Abstract

The role of Christian Religious Education is to understand how the teachings of the Christian faith can help young people comprehend their roles in society and align their lifestyles with Christian beliefs. The research method employed is qualitative, involving the review of books and journals from various perspectives. The research findings indicate that religious education within the Christian tradition is crucial in assisting 11th-grade high school students in developing a strong sense of responsibility toward their environment and way of life. Christian religious education should promptly fulfill its responsibilities within the church, nurturing adolescents and renewing their lives in accordance with Christian values. Once renewed by God, these young individuals will demonstrate lives that are close to God. It is hoped that a creative and contextual approach will be employed.

Abstract

The family plays an important role in Christian religious education for teenagers. Parents are responsible for teaching Christian teachings from an early age through activities such as reading the Bible, praying together, and attending church services. Apart from teaching, parents must set an example of living according to Christian values so that teenagers can see and apply them in their daily lives. Christian religious education in the family does not only focus on cognitive aspects, but also affective and psychomotor. A harmonious and mutually supportive family environment is very influential in this educational process. The success of Christian religious education in the family also requires cooperation between parents, churches and other educational institutions to ensure that children receive a complete and quality education.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the phenomenon of declining attendance among Generation Z congregants at GKPPD Jambu Mbellang by employing a qualitative research method. This method was chosen because it allows the researcher to explore the meanings and perspectives of the informants, thereby providing a more holistic understanding of the challenges faced by the church. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with Generation Z congregants and church leaders. The findings indicate that the spirituality of Generation Z reflects a need for a personal, flexible, and relevant faith experience. This generation seeks a deeper connection with God, independent of existing traditions, and is influenced by social interactions as well as digital technology. The study reveals that the current worship practices are perceived as less relevant by many young people, who desire a more interactive and meaningful experience. Therefore, the church needs to integrate modern elements into worship services and utilize technology as a means of reaching out to youth. Recommendations are addressed to the younger generation, church leadership, and the church community to foster an inclusive and supportive environment, enabling GKPPD Jambu Mbellang to become a relevant and meaningful place for Generation Z.

Abstract

Communication is a vital component in religious extension education, as it determines the success of delivering religious messages to society. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of communication assessment implementation for third-semester students of the Religious Extension Education Program at IAKN Tarutung. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the communication evaluation process and its impact on students’ mastery of communication theory and practice. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and field practice documentation. The findings reveal that communication evaluation—implemented through written assignments, group discussions, presentations, and religious counseling simulations—significantly improved students’ communication competencies. Students became more confident, skilled in message structuring, and adaptive to diverse audiences. However, challenges remain, including limited practical facilities and insufficient integration of digital technology in the evaluation process. Therefore, the study recommends strengthening technology-based approaches and providing intensive training in the use of digital media as tools for religious communication. A contextually designed and future-oriented communication evaluation will serve as a strategic foundation in shaping professional, communicative, and socially responsive religious counselors. The findings are also expected to inform curriculum development and teaching methods in similar academic programs.

Abstract

This study aims to reread the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 within the context of artificial intelligence and to examine its implications for the transformation of Christian education from a New Testament perspective. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research and theological hermeneutics. A rereading approach was applied to bring the theological message of Matthew 28:19-20 into dialogue with contemporary developments in artificial intelligence and digital education. Data were collected from the Greek New Testament, biblical commentaries, theological literature, and recent scholarly studies concerning artificial intelligence, digital culture, and Christian education. The analysis involved historical-exegetical interpretation, theological synthesis, and contextual reflection. The study reveals that the Great Commission primarily constitutes an educational mandate centered on disciple-making rather than mere information transmission. The imperatives of teaching and obedience emphasize spiritual formation, relational discipleship, and character development, dimensions that cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence. AI may function as a supportive pedagogical instrument by facilitating learning and expanding educational accessibility, but it remains subordinate to the Christ-centered mission of forming mature disciples. Furthermore, the command to “go” can be understood more broadly in the digital era, encompassing online and AI-mediated educational ministries while preserving authentic Christian community and human relationships. This study contributes to contemporary discussions on theology and technology by providing a New Testament framework for understanding educational transformation in the age of artificial intelligence. It demonstrates that technological innovation should serve, rather than redefine, the enduring mission of Christian discipleship.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the spiritual and educational experiences of Generation Z. As digital natives, Generation Z increasingly encounters religious ideas, spiritual practices, and faith communities through digital platforms, creating new forms of digital spirituality that influence how young Christians understand faith, identity, and religious commitment. This study aims to examine the challenges and opportunities presented by digital spirituality in the age of artificial intelligence and to explore the role of Christian Religious Education in fostering authentic spiritual formation among Generation Z. Employing a qualitative approach based on library research and theological reflection, the study analyzes relevant literature from the fields of Christian education, digital religion, artificial intelligence, and youth spirituality. Data were collected from books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and contemporary theological studies and analyzed thematically to identify major trends and implications for Christian education. The findings reveal that artificial intelligence and digital technologies provide significant opportunities for expanding access to biblical resources, facilitating personalized learning, and encouraging interactive faith communities. The study demonstrates that Christian Religious Education must move beyond doctrinal instruction toward a holistic model of spiritual formation that integrates biblical literacy, ethical discernment, digital wisdom, and relational discipleship. AI should be understood as a supportive instrument rather than a substitute for human mentoring and ecclesial community. Ultimately, Christian Religious Education is called to guide Generation Z toward a Christ-centered digital spirituality in which technological innovation serves spiritual maturity and faithful discipleship rather than replacing them.
