Abstract

Neuroblastoma is a type of neuroendocrine cancer that is very dangerous, but can be cured if earlydetected and appropriate therapy. Center for Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical Technology BATANSerpong has been succeeded in making labelled compounds131I-MIBG for early detection of neuroblastomacancer. Iodine-131 (I-131)-MIBG was prepared by reacting 127I-MIBG sulfate and Na131I using CuSO4catalyst and reducing agent as sodium bisulphite, pH = 3-4 with CH3COOH.The solution was refluxed at atemperature of 1600C so that the resulting of 131I-MIBG labelled compound. The radiochemical purity of theproduct was tested by chromatographic, using whatman paper number 1 asstationary phase and the mobilephase containing of n.butanol liquid mixture: acetic acid: water (5: 2: 1), and radionuclide purity test usinggamma spectrometer. Radiochemical and radionuclide purity131I-MIBG (diagnosis) was carried outof99.72% ± 0.32 and 99.99% ± 0.00 respectively. The labelled compound 131I-MIBG (therapy) withradioactivity dose of 25 mCi / vial was obtained of radiochemical purity = 98.33% ± 0.53 and radionuclidepurity = 99.99% ± 0.00, whereas radiochemical purity and radionuclide purity of131I-MIBG (therapy) withradioactivity dose of 50 mCi / vial was obtained 98.83% ± 0.32 and 99.99% ± 0.00 respectively.

Abstract

The perovskite compound SrTiO3 has the potential to be used in photocatalyst technology. The morphologyparticle was reported to affect its photocatalytic activity. The hydrothermal synthesis method is one of the methods which can produce the typical morphology. In this research, SrTiO3 was synthesized using the hydrothermal method with heating temperature variations of 150, 175, 200, and 225 °C at 24 hours. The XRD data showed that SrTiO3was successfully synthesized at a synthesis temperature of 150, 175, 200 and 225 °C, but there were found impurities (TiO2). The morphology of SrTiO3 which using temperature synthesized 225 oC is cubic shape and having the biggest size. The bandgap value of SrTiO3 product was obtained at range 3,14-3,20 eV.

Abstract

One of the natural potentials that can be used as traditional medicine and natural preservatives is theseeds of Atung which can be found in Ambon, Seram and Lease Islands. The purpose of this study was toidentify bioactive phytosterols in the chloroform extract of Atung fruit seeds. Five main compounds have beenidentified in the chloroform extract of Atung fruit seeds (Parinarium glaberimum Hassk) which are linoleicacid (8.88%); stearic acid (8.23%); stigmasta-5,22-dien-3-ol,(3β,22E) or stigmasterol (10.37%); stigmast-5-en-3-ol,(3β) or β-sitosterol (19.59%); and stigmast-5-en-3-ol, (3β, 24S) or γ-sitosterol ( 33.74%) through gaschromatography-mass spectroscopy by analyzing the similarity of molecular weight and positive ionmass/charge fragments and based on the comparison of the GC-MS retention time of phytosterols. This studyis the first to report the presence of stigmasterol, β-sitosterol and γ-sitosterol in the chloroform extract ofAtung fruit seeds (Parinarium glaberimum Hassk). γ -Sitosterol, the epimer of β-sitosterol, has the greatestabundance in the chloroform extract of Atung fruit seeds.

Abstract

Surfactants are the main components in detergents. Surfactants in detergents will form a layer that spreads on the surface of the water, which can reduce the surface tension of the water and will form an emulsion the foam formation that can repel dirt. Large amounts of surfactants in wastewater discharged into the environment can cause damage to aquatic life, water pollution and endanger human health. Therefor it is necessary to separate or change them into other harmless materials before being discharged into the environment. One of the methods used is electrocoagulation. The electrocoagulation method is an environmentally friendly method of treating liquid waste by combining the principles of coagulation, floatation and electrochemistry. In this study, the electrocoagulation method was carried out by varying pH and electrolyte concentrations in the simulated surfactant waste treatment. Surfactant levels were determined by extraction of ion pair surfactant-methylene blue with an organic solvent then measured using spectrophotometer. The optimization of the method is done by determining the maximum absorption length, optimum pH, and the effect of adding electrolytes with different concentrations. The results showed that the maximum absorption at a wavelength of 652 nm.

Abstract

Papaya seed waste in Indonesia is abundant and contains oil that has the potential to be transesterified into fatty acid methyl esters. This study aims to determine: (1) the optimum conditions for methylester synthesis with two stages of reaction, (2) the character of the transesterified methy-ester mixture (3)the potential as biodiesel and its constituent components. Several stages in this study were (1) isolation ofoil from papaya seeds, (2) making fatty acid methyl esters from papaya seeds, (3) characterization ofsynthesized compounds including physical properties: viscosity, refractive index, density, acid number test,(4) the determination of the methyl ester component was carried out by analyzing the results of GC-MS.The optimum conditions for the synthesis were obtained at a KOH concentration of 1% w/w, with a methylester yield of 75.82% w/w. The characteristics of the yield compound are density 0.85 g /mL, refractiveindex 1.44, viscosity 4.76 cSt and acid number 0.70 mg KOH / g which are included in the SNI biodieselrange, so they have the potential to be biodiesel.
