In his published M.A. thesis, Dakwah Sufistik Kang Jalal Menentramkan Jiwa, Mencerahkan Pikiran (Sufistic/Islamic-Mystical-Dimension Preaching of Mr. Jalal Pacifies the Soul and Enlightens the Mind), Rosyidi does not mention explicitly his key question, his argument, and his hypothesis. Abstract

How do radical religious groups recruit new members? Why do parking attendants want to be involved in radical religious study groups? This study aims to look at the role of religious study groups (pengajian) in one of the Religious Study Councils (Majelis Taklim) in Jakarta as a place for indoctrinating radicalism to people from a lower social class. The study also aims to identify the factors and approaches to radicalization. To see the phenomenon of radicalization in parking attendants, this study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The participants in this study are the wives of six former members of pengajian affiliated with ISIS as well as former parking attendants in Jakarta. The results of the study show that the parking attendants and their religious study groups have a significant role in attracting and recruiting new members through employment opportunities and facilities for studying the Qur'an, as well as exclusive Islamic teaching. The changes of attitude and thought that occurred in the parking attendants after attending the pengajian can be seen in their refusal to attend Friday prayers outside their group, their attendance to the weekly study group schedule, and the physical exercise performed such as self-defense.

This article outlines some important constructive remarks for future publication of the book. The remarks are as follow: 1) the naming consistency; 2) the consistency of the exegesis presentation structure; 3) the problem of verses’ translation writing format.

Abstract

Islam in Nusantara has a unique character, which is the result of a long-term interaction process between religion and culture. Such condensation is crystallized in idea, conduct, and path. This article tries to elucidate the mixture process underwent in the light of cultural anthropology by relying on data contained in historical, social, and cultural sources. This study concludes that Islam-Nusantara condensation appeared in the form of politics, education, and culture, which is the result of the Islamization process. The manifestation of political condensation takes form in Islamic-Javanese kingship produced by Islamization efforts using power authority and Islamic theocracy. The appearance of educational condensation can be mirrored in santri community with its orthopraxy trend brought about by the enlightenment of ‘ulemas with their stronger religious orientation. The last is the cultural condensation identified in kejawen society which is caused by the syncretic approach of Islamization that combines Islamic Sufism and Javanese mysticism.

Abstract

Currently, teachers' and students' relations were not ideally treated because of the rapid growth of information technology. The teacher's role was needed in improving students' cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills for facing the recent era. This study was aimed to analyze the teachers and students relation in appropriate models using Ibn Sina's multilevel reasoning and neuroscience perspective. The data were obtained through observing manual and digital scientific journals and research references focusing on this issue. This research was a literature study using a qualitative method. Findings proved that Ibn Sina's multilevel reasoning approach was relevant for improving the student's brain, emotional intelligence, and empathy to their teachers. Teachers should be creative to approach the pupils by providing appropriate advice and character education. Thus this research was expected to contribute to the Islamic education development in this millennial era.
