Abstract

The Indonesian economy is significantly driven by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which face challenges related to halal certification. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) plays a crucial role in providing halal fatwas through a self-declaration mechanism for MSMEs. This study explores the challenges MSMEs encounter in obtaining halal fatwas and their impact on consumer purchase decisions. From a self-declaration perspective, the MUI validates and issues halal fatwas for MSME products. Although self-declaration aims to ease the certification process, challenges such as high costs and difficulty meeting standards persist. However, the MUI's role in providing credible halal fatwas and maintaining public trust is vital. This research uses a library study method, analyzing data from primary legal materials, relevant literature, survey results, and other information. The findings indicate that self-declared halal fatwas can enhance consumer trust in MSME products, though concerns about the validity of such certifications remain due to the lack of audits and formal fatwa determinations.

Abstract

Almost all ulama and Muslim intellectuals in Indonesia accept the term “democracy” and support it as a system that must be implemented in Indonesia. The emergence of the “reform era” following the fall of authoritarian Soeharto’s government in 1998 was marked as the starting point of the transition to substantive democracy. The political reform took the form of conducting free elections, developing a multiparty system, and guaranteeing more freedom for the press and citizens to express their opinions and criticism, and the amendments to the 1945 Constitution. This ran well, so the democratic transition was considered successful. The political parties and civil society organizations, including those with an Islamic background, played an important role in this transition. To develop a civilized democracy in Indonesia, the government, political parties, and civil societies, especially religious organizations, made efforts to strengthen ethics and moral education as well as civic education, conveying values in a democratic system, such as tolerance, trust, responsibility, law consciousness, and others. This research was done through qualitative approach, based on library documents.

Abstract

The study highlights challenges faced by some Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at SMPN 3 Tangerang Selatan in integrating ICT media into learning. Commonly used tools include YouTube, PowerPoint, Google Classroom, and Google. This research analyzes the ICT literacy proficiency of PAI teachers using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Primary data were obtained from two PAI teachers, the vice-principal, and students, while secondary data included curriculum books, school archives, and related documents. Data collection involved non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews, with documents such as curriculum, syllabi, and lesson plans (RPP) analyzed. Following Tammy Moerer-Urdahl and John W. Creswell's phenomenological model, the steps included describing teachers’ experiences (epoche), identifying significant statements, grouping them into themes, and synthesizing themes into comprehensive descriptions. The findings offer insights into ICT literacy levels and reveal the ongoing struggles teachers face in effectively incorporating technology into PAI learning processes.

Abstract

Halal certification aims to meet specific standards and gain legal recognition for products as per Indonesia's 2014 Halal Product Assurance Law. It represents a social responsibility for producers. Despite administrative registration, violations of halal certification can disrupt public order and are considered criminal offenses. The study uses a normative-empirical method, combining literature reviews and Gustav Radbruch's legal theory. Results show that mandatory halal certification under the Job Creation Law has raised awareness about halal consumption, especially among entrepreneurs. However, procedural obstacles like insufficient review and delays persist. The law has provided legal certainty and consumer rights protection. To improve halal certification services, uniform education from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) is recommended, focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM).

Abstract

The increasing popularity of Korean food in Indonesia, driven by global trends and Muslim consumer interest, significantly impacts the non-oil and gas sector's GDP, particularly the food and beverage industry. Halal certification plays a vital role in ensuring that food production complies with Islamic law, enhancing product competitiveness and consumer trust in Indonesia's predominantly Muslim market. This study examines the influence of halal fatwas on purchasing decisions for Korean food, employing a normative legal method and a sociology of law approach through interviews with 20 respondents aged 20-30. The findings reveal that 86% of respondents prioritize halal labels, 63% feel more comfortable consuming halal-certified products, and most are hesitant to try uncertified products. Halal certification emerges as both a legal necessity and a marketing strategy to secure market share. Applying Hans Kelsen's legal certainty theory, the study highlights how clear, consistent halal norms build consumer trust, influencing purchasing behavior and boosting market competitiveness for Korean food products in Indonesia.
