Abstract

This article explains the concept of the ideal family contained in the interpretations of al-Azhar by Hamka and al-Misbah by Muhammad Quraish Shihab. These two interpretations show that the Qur'an contains instructions that can be used as a benchmark for humans to achieve the ideal family, namely humans must always present feelings of sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah in their family. Apart from that, they also have to protect each other from things that can lead them to the fires of hell, wishing each other well. The views of the two interpretations are very relevant to modern life, that the values of the Koran must exist in the family to achieve an ideal family. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative using the interpretations of al-Azhar and al-Mishbah as data sources by limiting them to surah al-Rūm 21, QS. al-Taḥrīm 6 and QS. al-Furqān 74. The views of the two interpretations are compared, then enriched by the views of other commentators and figures.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of love as a rare harmonization in conflicts between major world religions. The emergence of conflict is sometimes indicated by a certain ideology, power, and social-religious. The purpose of this research is to understand, respond to, and provide solutions to any conflicts that have occurred in the world’s major religions. In this study, using a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis style using literature review techniques and using a historical review approach to explain descriptive analysis in discussing conflicts between the world’s major religions. What’s interesting about this article is that it offers the concept of love as taught in every religion. If without being based on love in realizing peace, it will be difficult to meet in deliberations, and greet one another. By taking the path of love, humans can create a harmonious life, a peaceful life without any disputes between other religious communities. So that with the diversity of people’s colors, religions, races, ethnicities, and cultures, we should be able to react wisely. Tolerance and mutual respect between fellow citizens must be upheld.

Abstract

This article discusses how Protestant Christian theology responds to the strengthening of the secularization phenomenon. The positive response with various styles of theological reflection illustrates that the Protestant Christian theology figures above, starting from Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Paul Tillich, are the efforts of theologians to try to bridge the gap or gap in cultural rationality between the cultures of the classical era in where the texts of the scriptures were written with modern Western culture today. These theologians include those who give a positive response in dealing with the phenomenon of secularization in the West. However, their response actually has a style that is more or less different in their way of thinking. Although Karl Barth proposed an advanced mode of reflection, he was still bound by his orthodoxy, so that he was nicknamed "neo-orthodox". Rudolf Bultmann was more liberal with his "Demythologized" ideas. Dietrich Bonhoeffer had already begun to advocate a secular Christian interpretation, and Paul Tillich had further advocated a correlational theological approach to religion and culture. Next, Harvey Cox further tries to construct a more comprehensive reflection of Secularization theology, that the secular world is a world in which Christians are mature people. As a sign, Jesus' death on the cross is a symbol, that he has left his absoluteness, his supernatural being, to become a secular "God".

Abstract

The main concern of the author in this study is to examine the word khabīth which is found in various verses in the Qur’an. In studying the word, the author uses syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis contained in the semantic theory by Toshihiko Izutsu. This research uses the type of library research. The type of research in terms of the implementation perspective in this research is descriptive research. This is an attempt to describe the object of study that is studied in depth. The main question to be answered in this research is how is the world view of the Qur’an towards the word Khabīth from a semantic perspective? The findings in this study indicate that the word Khabīth has the basic meaning of an evil. But based on syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis, these basic meanings become various meanings, each of which has a relationship or relation. Another finding in this study is that the meaning of the word Khabīth has “shifted without losing basic meaning” since pre-Islam and after the revelation of Qur’an.

Abstract

This article aims to test the achievement of the requirements for mutawatir hadiths, which according to Juynboll’s view, in general, mutawatir transmissions will not be found in the Prophet's hadiths. He said that mutawatir hadith only occurred in a limited number of cases with non-standard and not clearly structured criteria, and if all hadith transmitters were presented individually, then they could not be included in the mutawatir criteria. This article uses a qualitative method with data sources throughout the canonical and pre-canonical hadith books. After an in-depth study of all the transmission lines, this article concludes that what Juynboll concluded was incorrect. This article found that the hadith about washing the khuffayn qualifies as a mutawatir hadith as required by Ibn Hajar.

Abstract

Although there are some incoming ethnicities in Borneo such as Malays, Chinese, Buginese, Javanese and Madurese, only with Madurese that the indigenous Dayaks conflicted with, despite being in the same faith that is Islam. This paper discusses ethnic conflict that occurred in Sambas District, West Borneo in 1999 between the indigenous Dayaks and the immigrant Madurese. Using Schmidt and Schroder’s (2001) framework of violent acts and social ramifications, this article looks into contributing factors of this conflict and how these factors interrelated. The study finds that Sambas outbreak was driven by an external factor such as central government’s transmigration policy that impacted on Dayak traditional lands and forests and economic deprivation. Additionally, there was also accumulating historical clash between Dayaks and Madurese, fueling the hatred toward the transmigrating group. An important finding to note is that Dayak Muslims and Malays also shared religious belief as do Dayak Muslims and Madurese, but they did not conflict with each other. This study suggests that ethnicity needs to be considered when dealing with conflicts in local areas, and state government should take into account the local political and economic constellation before enforcing transmigration policy.

Abstract

This article analyzes the transformation of paradigms in the literature of Ulumul Quran and Ulumul Hadis in Indonesia. The study employs historical, discourse analysis, and al-Jabiri’s reading theory to explore the construction and dynamics of these disciplines. The findings reveal that the study of Ulumul Quran and Ulumul Hadis in Indonesia experienced stagnation until the late 20th century, with most literature being reiterations of Middle Eastern scholars’ works. However, the post-1990s era marked a paradigm shift influenced by Western thought and modern approaches such as phenomenology and hermeneutics. This study recommends interdisciplinary methods to enhance the relevance of these fields in Indonesia's contemporary socio-cultural context. Additionally, Living Quran and Living Hadis studies are proposed as new research directions to explore the social and religious dimensions of Islamic texts.
