Abstract

Abstract⎯Molybdenum oxide (MoO3) have been introduced to titanium silicalite (TS-1) by impregnation methode and have been characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy, nitrogen and pyridine adsorption. The results show that TS-1 and XMoO3/TS-1 have orthorhombic structure and MFI framework structure type. 0,5% MoO3/TS-1, dan 1% MoO3/TS-1 catalyst have not been yet Brønsted acid site, while Brønsted acidity increased from 2% MoO3/TS-1 to 4% MoO3/TS-1 respectively.

Abstract

Estimation of regression curve usually conducted using three methods; parametric method, non-parametric method, and semi-parametric method. Non-parametric method has several techniques, which are histogram, kernel, and spline. From various types of spline techniques, weighted parsial spline is developed to solve heterokedasticity problem, this is due to the inability of original partial spline model in handling the heterokedasticity problem. Different techniques are used in choosing the weighted criteria, one of the technique is Generalized Moving Average (GMA). Study about the amount of electricity power loss in PT. PLN East Java Province, North Surabaya Region, resulted that there was a tendency of heterogeneous variance.Using weighted partial spline model with GMA method give better result than original partial spline model. This finding indicates the model of weighted partial spline using GMA method is better than original partial spline model in explaining the heterogeneity of variance.

Abstract

The integrated of activated carbon adsorbent and TiO2 photocatalyst (TiO2/AC) has been synthesized and evaluated to remove phenol in the continuous pilot scale system. TiO2/AC was prepared by mixing of AC into sol system consisting of TiO2 Degussa P-25, water, and tetraehtyl orthosilicate (TEOS) solution as a source of silica. The mixtures then evaporated at ±97oC and calcined at 400oC. Performance test of the material was conducted using Tubular-V-Collector (TVC) reactor that equipped with 14 UV black light lamps. The experimental results show that the phenol could effectively be removed through simultaneous adsorption and photocatalysis. Within the residence time of 6 minutes, TiO2/AC could continuously remove the 50 ppm of phenol by 100% phenol removal as long as 5 hours.

Abstract

The invention of new digital technology of images from video camera systems now can provide information of the shoreward propagation of wave using pixel intensity time series that collected at cross-shore array. From this video image of intensity data, we can measure the wave speed (or, equivalent to wave number). Then the local water depth is inferred from linear wave theory dispersion relation equation. This paper describes the cross-spectral correlation approach scheme for investigating wave speed or equivalent wave number from video image data sets. The approach based on a pixel array analysis that utilizes a nonlinear inverse method. The solution is tolerant to noise and other forms of sampling deficiency. The solution includes error predictions that can be used to evaluate sample designs (data gaps) and the signal coherence. The technique was tested using 30 days of hourly data collected at Egmond beach, Netherlands. The result showed that the method have capability to derive wave number prediction from pixel intensity time series to support bathymetry estimation in near shore area through inversion of an appropriate wave dispersion model.

Abstract

Extra High Voltage (EHV) 500 kV transmission lines has higher insulation strength against overvoltages produced by lightning strikes compare to lower transmission lines voltage such as 150 kV or 70 kV transmission lines. Observation was carried out at EHV 500 kV Paiton-Kediri line located at east Java island of Indonesia. This line has operated for more than five-years. In fact is there were many insulators were broken by lightning strikes, especially during rainy season. A large number of broken insulator at many towers deterioted performance of the lines, in which many line outages occured. This study presents the evaluation results of performance of the lines concerning its robustness agains lighting strikes. Investigation of the characteristics of lightning strikes in the area along the lines was carried out. From this observation and study it founds that some towers need to be improved to have better performance against overvoltage due to direct lightning strikes to the towers. By using Severity index methodology, local lightning data and innovation technology for lightning protection system significant results were derived.
