Abstract

AbstractThis article explained about the birth of historical-background of tobacco controlling policy and the effect for Jember society. Then, the policy influenced the response from Jember goverment and tobacco society in Jember. The method of this research used historical method including research manners and historical writings. Tobacco controlling policy was backed by the interest of foreign capitalist that threaten Jember economic society who their life was depend on tobacco for instances farmers, tobacco sellers, cigarette sellers, etc. Those problems influenced the reaction from Tobacco farmer Association of Indonesia (APTI) in Jember and tobacco society. APTI Jember prosecuted Jember government to protect the farmers that threathen because of tobacco controlling policy. Besides, The response was also given by the small businessman cigarette in Jember. The cigarette businessman in Jember did against by producing the cigarette without any tax as a way to oppose the policy of tax that was very high at that time. Jember goverment was very responsive to face the problem that made tobacco society worried about the tobacco policy. Then, the government did a cooperation with tobacco society to conserve tobacco. One of the ways to consrve tobacco was by running tobacco affair policy and by using DBHCHT that agreed with tobacco society requirement. The response that was given by tobacco society and Jember government could not be seperated from the importance of tobacco for the economy of Jember society.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was investigating about religion message visualization in film “Hijrah Cinta”. The goal of this study was to know about religion message visualization and it purposed in film “Hijrah Cinta”. This study used the descriptive-qualitiative method which explained the detail of the problem showed on this study. The data analysis in the object used the semiotics analiysis technic. The concept which used in this study was : religion message concept, then the theory whisch used was film semiotics Christian Metz theory and Gestalt cognitive psycology theory. The data analysis result shown the conclusion that the religion message in “Hijrah Cinta” shot series was sincere, patient, no surrender and godfearing. Those message was described to 7 syntagmas by Metz. The explanation of religion message was more complete with presence of gestalt psychological based analysis. 5 characteristic of insight in learning formed the comprehension about sincere, godfearing on religious proselytizing.

Abstract

AbstractThis article discusses the development of tourism sector in Banyuwangi regency 2002-2013. The problems in this thesis are (1) the conditions of tourism before the government issues policies; (2) the regional government’s efforts to develop tourism sector; (3) the impact of tourism towards economic, social, and cultural life in Banyuwangi regency. To discuss the problems, this study applies theory of modernization by using the sociology of tourism approach and historical method. Tourism is not merely an activity to find pleasure, but also the source of foreign exchange. One of regencies which can develop tourism industry is Banyuwangi. The development of tourism in this regency, in its early development, experienced fluctuation that was caused by the economic crisis and the tragedy of santet (the killings of many people who were issued having black magic in 1998-1999) that decreased Banyuwangi’s tourism image. Such condition still run until the issue of the 2102 regional government’s regulation as the legal standing of tourism development in Banyuwangi. This regulation has got positive response from the investors that has been showed by the construction of hotel industry, tourism destinations, and transportation which have made Banyuwangi as the centre of emergent economic department in East Java. The growth of tourism has brought new jobs for the society as the managers of tourism services and regrowing local cultures through carnival events conducted by the regional government and society.

Abstract

AbstractA novel entitled Air Mata Tuhan as a study of woman psychology was focused on the main character. This research aimed to know the forms of women’s personality, and to describe the linkage between structural elements and psychology aspect contained on the main character in the Novel entitled Air Mata Tuhan written by Aguk Irawan M.N. The used research method was qualitative by using literature study. The data contained in the Novel entitled Air Mata Tuhan were also analyzed. The research result indicated that structural elements included title, theme, characterization, character, and conflict has the linkage. The analysis of woman psychology showed that (1) the woman characteristic was beauty included beauty of inside and outside, tenderness, humility, nurturing, easily disappointed and rise up again; (2) woman and family, included woman as a wife, woman as a partner of life; and (3) woman and depression. Those characteristics were belonged to the main character in the Novel entitled Air MataTuhan named Fisha.

Abstract

AbstractAs social human, he has roles in society. In every interaction, humans create multiple languages and have a set of codes, which each code fits in a role relationship. In term of choosing the code, code mixing and code switching can be done as the types of choice. Code mixing blends other language fragments into a particular language and code switching is the transition of language from one code to another in conversation. This study aimed to describe the form of code mixing and code switching as well as the factors behind the use of code mixing and code switching occurred in buying and selling fish activities at fish auction Puger sub-district of Jember regency. This research used descriptive qualitative method, which was done based on the research in the field when the researcher observed the conversation on the activities of buying and selling fish. Based on the analysis results obtained, the seller was a multi-linguist who mastered more than one language, while the interlocutor causing code mixing often used Javanese languange. The insertion of other languages in code mixing conversation was in the form of word, phrase, and clause. There were two codes in this research; namely, translation and diversity e.g. Javanese language to the Madurese langauge was ngoko variety; Madurese language to the Javanese language was krama variety, and Madurese language to informal Indonesian language. Furthermore, there were several factors behind the use of code mixing and the code switching. Factors causing code mixing included: social role, limitation, and desire to explain something. While factors causing code switching included: speaker, interlocutor, topic / subject, seller’s annoyance to buyer, buyer's annoyance to seller, presence of third person, evoking sense of humor, easiness, and attracting buyer’s attention.

Abstract

AbstractThis television movie script "Pemuda Idaman #ngaca" romance comedy genre discusses about a set of problems faced by single man (single) in finding his ideal partner. The purpose of producing this work is to provide the moral message about the meaning of the mirroring (preparing ourselves) through television screenwriting "Pemuda Idaman #ngaca." This work describes the story of a single man looking for a woman of his dreams which packaged in a comedy. The reconstruction of the characters in this script uses physical constitution of the psychological theory of Ernst Kretschmern to describe the physical form of the characters in the script. The creator collecting data and facts (news) observation in making this work on the phenomenon of singles in Indonesia and based on personal experienced of the creator in the composing idea, so expected with the moral messages preparing ourselves can be delivered through the television movie script "Pemuda Idaman #ngaca." The result of this work is the screenplay television movie of romance comedy as the genre in the title "Pemuda Idaman #ngaca."

Abstract

Abstract This research discusses about bias and power in the four chosen news articles published by the Jakarta Post. Those four articles discuss the competition between two bickering factions inside Golkar Party, Bakrie’s group and Laksono’s group, to grab the position of new house speaker in early 2016. The main goal of this research is to reveal the power and bias applied implicitly through the linguistic features enacted in media. The revelation of bias is analyzed through its linguistic choice by using Appraisal theory proposed by Martin and White (2005). Since bias is one of the social inequalities phenomena, this research is revealed under Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) scope, especially using Firclough’s three dimensional frameworks, which deals with analyzing the relation between language and social context. The Jakarta Post needs to obey the principles of journalist that are being neutral, independent and objective in informing the news. However, the result of this research shows that the media is possible to do bias because of political interest.
