Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to describe: (1) seventh grade junior high school 1 Jelbuk students’ location of the misconception in solving word problem which involving fractions using Certainty of Response Index (CRI), (2) factors that cause seventh grade junior high school 1 Jelbuk students’ misconception in solving word problem which involving fractions. This research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Data collection methods which were used are test and interview. As data collection tool instrument was used in form of 2 essay questions which acompanied with CRI scale. CRI scale between 0-5, if the low-confidence scale (CRI 0-2), then illustrates that the process of plowing plays a significant role in determining the answer. If the high-confidence scale (CRI 3-5), then describes the students have a high degree of certainty in using the knowledge they have to arrive at the answer. Research’s subject were students of VII B in Junior High School 1 Jelbuk which consists of 36 students. The results showed that on the number 1 problem there are 18 students experiencing misconception and 18 students do not experience misconception, whereas in problem number 2 there are 20 students experiencing misconception and 16 students do not experience misconception. Misconceptions experienced by students are in understanding the symbols, the area of the rectangle, the operation of fractional numbers, the addition operation and the reduction of integers, the operation of the sum of the denominations and the operation of multiplication and division of integers. From the data obtained the most misconception experienced by students is misconception in understanding the symbol on the problem number 1 and misconception on the multiplication operation and the division of integers in question number 2. Keywords: Misconception, certainty of response index (CRI), fractions

Abstract

Abstract. High order thinking skill becomes a goal in the learning activities in Curriculum 2013. High order thinking skill is closely related to how students solve problems in mathematics. To measure students' level of problem solving skills requires an unusual test, which not only contains routine questions and low level questions. One of the mathematics lessons that can familiarize students to use their problem-solving power to measure students' high order thinking in the part of mathematics is the use of open-ended questions. A learning strategy that supports the use of open-ended questions is a collaborative learning strategy. The process of developing open-questions of high-level thinking through 4 stages, namely: (a) preliminary stage (preliminary); (B) the stage of self evaluation (analysis and design); (C) prototyping stage (validation, evaluation and revision); And (d) field test stage. The results of this study indicate that the developed instrument is worthy to be used to measure students' high-order thinking skill. It is based on the validity test with the value of Va generally reach 4.27 with valid interpretation. Reliability test obtained reliability tested in class VIII C and VIII D are 0.7999 and 0.8166 respectively with high interpretation. Based on the difficulty level test obtained the level of difficulty of open questions meet the criteria of a good degree of difficulty. Based on the result of the experiment, it is also known that overall students who have high order thinking skill with good category are 22 students (61,11%) from 36 students in class VIII C and 18 students (51,43%) from 35 students in class VIII D. Key Words: Open Ended Problem, Measuring High Order Thinking Skills, Collaborative Learning

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the application of STAD cooperative learning model computer-assisted with Cabri 3D software affect on the student’s geometry ability. The population of this research is the students of grade X Pakusari Senior High School. The sample of this research was determined by cluster random sampling technique. Class X4 was selected as control class and class X5 as experiment class. The result of this research showed that the students geometry ability whom taught by STAD cooperative learning model computer-assisted with Cabri 3D software has increased than students whom taught by expository methods group based. It also appears that student activity at the experiment class is better than control class when group learning process held. There is a positive influence between the use of Cabri 3D software on the student’s geometry ability as a result of the application of STAD cooperative learning model computer-assisted with Cabri 3D software on matter of angle in three-dimensional space. It can be concluded that the application of STAD cooperative learning model computer-assisted with Cabri 3D software has an effect on geometry capability on matter of angle in three-dimensional space students of X grade Pakusari Senior High School. Keywords: STAD cooperative learning model, cabri 3D software, geometry ability.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to describe process and development result of 4 C's indicators that aligned with curriculum 2013 on the first semester mathematics subject of eighth grade junior high school. 4 C's indicators are indicator of ability that exist in P21 which consist of critical thinking, creative, collaboration and communication. Research type which is used in modified Plomp's development model. Plomp's development phases consists of 4 phase which are, (1) initial investigation phase; (2) designing phase; (3) realisation/ construction phase; (4) test, evaluation, and revision phase. The developed learning materials consist of the number patterns; Cartesian field; Relations and functions; Equation of straight line and sisterm of two linear equations. The development is done by making the 4 C's indicator that aligned with the curriculum 2013. The data collection process is done through product validity test which has been developed by several lecturers and teachers. Validation results were analyzed to conclude that the 4 C's indicator developed was valid after a revision based on the suggestion of some experts with validity criteria greater than or equal to 3.00.
