Abstract

This research is a research of class action. The purposes of this research are 1) to know about the motivation increasing from student to learn mathematic after learning applied using recitation method with LKS on standart topic on Cube and Beam in grade VIII E SMPN 11 Jember year 2013/2014; 2) To know result learning about the increasing from student to learn mathematic after learning applied using recitation method with LKS on standart topic on Cube and Beam in grade VIII E SMPN 11 Jember year 2013/2014. The research subject is students of SMPN 11 grade VIII. This research consists of 2 cycles. The data collecting method is observation, questionnaire, interview and test for every end of cycle. Based on the analysis result from the motivation questionnaire students in studying mathematic, the average from cycle value and interview about motivation increasing by the students to learn mathematic after using recitation method. The result is shown by 1) The data from questionnaire students in learning mathematic is getting increasing from the first reflection to the cycle I and to the cycle II is 57,15% becomes 69,87% and in cycle II becomes 76,5% with the high cathegory; The average from the test result is getting increasing, the average in cylce I is 68,37 becomes 81,13 in cycle II. The interview result is the students get a motivation to study generally. Based on the questionnaire result.

Abstract

Ethnomatematics is the science of mathematics practiced by a cultural group where the society has unconsciously applied the concept of mathematics. The purpose of this study is to describe ethnomatemics in the activity of making tobacco motifs and to produce test packages. This type of research is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. There are three subjects in this study, S1 as the maker of patterns / designs, color locking, and "nglorod", S2 as a dyeing and coloring, and S3 as the maker of batik cap. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. This research is focused on the tobacco making batik activity. The results of this study indicate the existence of ethnomatematics which includes activities: counting, measuring, and designing. Ethnomatematics in this study was made as a test package in the form of descriptive questions for even ninth grade students.

Abstract

This research purpose to describe the mathematical representation abilities of students based on the Krulik and Rudnick stages in terms of students' AQ. This research type is qualitative descriptive research. The research location is in SMAN Darussholah Singojuruh with the subjects of class XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 7 as many as 30 students. The data collecting methods used test and interview methods, with research instruments, such as Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire, mathematics test questions on linear program material, interview guidelines, and validation sheets. The subjects selected as interview respondents were two students from each level of AQ who had significant differences in ARP scores (scores between AQ Climber, Camper, and Quiter), as well as based on the timeliness and accuracy of students' answers. Based on the test result data analysis and interview data analysis, the following results were obtained, such as 1) Climber students could solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages coherently, and be able to used forms of verbal representations, visual representations, and mathematical expressions properly and correctly; 2) Camper students could solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages coherently but had not been able to use forms of verbal representations, visual representations, and mathematical expressions properly and correctly; 3) Quitter students had not been able to solve linear program questions based on Krulik and Rudnick stages correctly and had not been able to use their verbal representation, visual representation, and mathematical expression skills properly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine what ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple and produce a test package related to ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple. This temple is a place of worship for the Tri Dharma people in Pasuruan City. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The subjects of this study were one religious leader and one handyman. Data collection methods used are observation and interviews. In this study focused on several objects of building and carving shapes. Mathematical concepts that emerged in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple building were geometric, congruent, similarity and geometric transformation. The product made is a test package related to ethnomatematics at the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple in Pasuruan. This test package is intended for junior high school grade VIII

Abstract

Abstract. The rainbow connection of the graph of G = (V, E) if for each pair of points u and v in G there is a path with points u and v as the end points on each side obtaining different colors, the path is called the rainbow path. The rainbow-connected number graph G is the smallest positive integer such that G has a rainbow connection staining denoted rc(G). While the graph is said to be a rainbow 2-connected staining on G if for each pair of points u and v on the sides there are 2 different paths, with u and v being the end points of each side obtaining different colors and 2 passages can not intersect each other, denoted rc2 (G). Let G be the graph connected with so that , with d is degrees. Let G be a rainbow so that where κ is the number of paths of rainbow connecting every two distinct points in G. Abstract

The goal of this research is to know the process and the result of developmental mathematic learning instrument base on cooperative and communicative skills using learning cycle 7E model on sub topic set operation 7th grade of junior high school. Developmental learning instruments refers to Thiagarajan, Semmel, dan Semmel models. The product of this research are lesson plan, worksheet, and student book. The products refers to the learning cycle 7E model base on cooperative and communicative skills. The trial subject of this research is student of grade VIIA Mts. Al Ma'arif Wuluhan. Data collection technique in this research is validation, observation, student project and self assessment. Mathematic learning instruments developed has met validity, practice, and effective criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' spatial-visual ability in solving PISA questions in shape and space content based on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. This type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. Subjects in the study were six students from Class X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Tanggul consisting of two students from each of the visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The data collection methods used were questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The instruments used in this study were learning style questionnaires, shape and space content PISA test questions, and interview guidelines. The results showed that the achievement of the characteristics of the sixth spatial-visual abilities of the subjects differed. Students with a visual learning style can meet the characteristics of pattern search, conceptualization, problem-solving, and imagination in full. Students with an auditory learning style can meet the characteristics of conceptualization, problem-solving, and imagination completely but are unable to meet the characteristics of pattern search. Students with kinesthetic learning styles meet the characteristics of problem solving and imagination but are unable to meet indicators on the characteristics of pattern search and conceptualization. This can be seen from the results of solving the questions given and interviews conducted on the research subjects. Abstract

Lack of students' skills in answering questions that require analysis, evaluation, and creativity so that in learning they cannot answer questions that require higher-order thinking skills. This results in the level of thinking of students in Indonesia is still low, as seen from Indonesia's ranking in the TIMSS in 2015. One of the efforts made to improve these higher thinking skills is by using the HOTS test package. This type of research is a development research with the Thiagrajan or Four D Model which aims to describe the process and results of developing HOTS-based test packages for eighth grade students on the Theorema Pythagoras material which is valid, practical, and effective in training students' higher order thinking skills. The method used in this research is the test method to determine the validity and effectiveness of the test package and the questionnaire method to determine practicality. The results of this study are in the form of students' achievements in analyzing, evaluating, and creating in accordance with higher-order thinking indicators with good interpretations. The HOTS-based test package, the subject of Pythagorean Theorema, produced in this study is valid, practical, and effective and can be used to improve students' higher order thinking skills. Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking ability of male and female students in solving jumping task problems on proportion. The jumping task question used is a question with level C4 in Taksonomi Bloom. This type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used consisted of the documentation mathematics students report in the first semester, critical thinking test, and interviews. The subjects used in this study are 32 students of class VII G on SMPN 4 Jember. consists of 16 male students and 16 female students. The students are divided into three groups based on the mathematics students report in the first semester. The groups are high, medium, and low category mathematics ability. The results showed that male students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), male students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical), male students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 0 (not critical). While female students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), female students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 2 (quite critical), female students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical).
