Abstract

The bronchial airways are an important part of the respiratory system, it is not uncommon for the bronchi to experience disturbances, one of the disorders due to coronavirus diseases (Covid-19). Coronavirus diseases (Covid-19) are what cause narrowing of the bronchial tubes so that they will interfere with the speed of air flow. This airflow speed will be modeled with mathematical language. The mathematical model of air flow velocity in this study is formed based on equations of momentum equations which are then solved by the finite element method. Speed analysis Air flow was simulated using MATLAB and FLUENT software. The problems studied are the effect of the narrowing diameter, initial velocity, and viscosity on the air flow velocity. Based on the research results show that the smaller the narrowing diameter and the viscosity of the incoming air, the greater the airflow velocity, while for the greater the initial velocity, the greater the resulting airflow velocity. Keywords: Coronavirus Diseases 2019 (Covid-19), bronchial, lungs, airways, finite element method.

Abstract

Curriculum is one of the essential requirements in the administration of education system. In the academic year 2013/2014, Indonesian government through the Ministry of Education implement a new curriculum called 2013 curriculum. For the successful implementation of 2013 curriculum, the government published a student book as an effort of supporting in learning activities. Analysis on the student book is needed for reviewing the suitability of student book by 2013 curriculum formulation. The analysis is based on four criteria consisting of competence, materials of math, learning approaches and assessment of learning. Research carried out by using the method of documentation and questionnaires. The results showed that the suitability of the student book with competence in the curriculum is 86.97% (very suitable), the materials of math is 87.27% (very suitable), the learning approaches is 87.50% (very suitable), and the suitability with the assessment of learning is 69.10% (suitable). Based on the research that has been done, the lowest number of suitability is the aspect of authentic assessment. Therefore, adding more tasks and activities that reflecting the authentic assessment in the student book such as portfolio and practice test would be highly recommended

Abstract

In learning activities, one of the efforts that can be done to improve students' learning abilities is to support learning styles that are following the objectives so that learning can be done effectively. This research was conducted at Junior High School 1 Kalisat, located at Jl. Diponegoro 52 Kalisat, Jember. This study aims to describe the students' critical thinking processes in solving fraction problems in terms of visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Data collection techniques used consisted of learning style questionnaires, critical thinking tests, and interview method. The subjects in this study were 6 students consisting of 2 students who represented visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. Based on data analysis, the results show that students with a visual and kinesthetic learning style meet five indicators of critical thinking, namely basic clarification, basic skills, concluding, further clarification, and strategies and tactics. Students with auditory learning styles meet the four indicators of critical thinking namely basic clarification, building basic skills, further clarification, and concluding. While students with auditory learning styles are less able to meet the indicators of strategies and tactics. Keywords: Critical Thinking, Learning Styles, Fraction Problems

Abstract

The research is about classroom action research in class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 3 Bondowoso in the 2019/2020 school year. Data collection methods in this research are observation, documentation, and tests. The data obtained are student interest in learning, teacher activities and student learning activities during the learning process and learning outcomes in cycle I and cycle II. Student learning activity data obtained from observations. Student learning activities were analyzed descriptively. While the completeness of students' mathematics learning outcomes was obtained from the postest results. Classical student learning activities have increased in each activity indicator observed from cycle I to cycle II. This can be seen from students who do activity indicators, the percentage increases from cycle I and cycle II, from 73% to 93%. The increase in completeness of student learning outcomes occurred in each cycle, namely 31.5% in cycle I to 89.6% in cycle II. Based on the results above, it shows that the Reciprocal Teaching Strategy with Audiovisual Media can be used as an alternative to learning that can make students more active and can understand mathematical concepts in order to improve learning activities and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Single ventricle is a heart defect in which one of the ventricle does not developed and bother the blood flow. One of the solutions is fontan surgery. The result of Fontan surgery allows the blood flowing in veins that initially lead to the heart change into the arteries. Because of these changes, there are possibility of swelling and velocity change of blood flowing. This research constructed a mathematical model of blood flowing velocity in arteries and veins due to a single ventricle heart defect that was formed from the momentum and mass equation, which was influenced by the diameter of venous vessel and blood viscosity. The analysis of the blood flow velocity in arteries and veins due to single ventricle heart defect was simulated by MATLAB and FLUENT software. The factors observed were the effect of venous diameter and blood viscosity on the velocity of blood flow in the veins. The result indicated that the greater diameter of the vein, the smaller the flow velocity in the vein. The greater blood viscosity resulted the smaller flow velocity in arteries and veins.

Abstract

Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) was a learning method in which the auditory skill was used. The students had to be able to listen, speak, present, give argument, and give response. Intellectually was that the students had to be able to use their mind set well to find and apply some problem solving related to their difficulties. Repetition was that the students had to do repetition or make an overview of their understanding and knowledge through quiz and final test. This training was aimed to solve the studens' problem in comprehending some questions aftes finished the lesson by using AIR method. This study used two sickles, in which, in every sickle consisted of planning, conducting, observation, and reflection. The method of collecting data was gotten through some attentive activities. These were observation, documdntation, interview, and test. Then, the data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative an quantitative method. The result of this study shown the students' improvement, namely in the first sickle was 72,50% and the second sicle was 90%. The students' mistake mostly found in taking conckusion. The effective of AIR method in the fist sickle was 32,48% include in effective enough. Whereas in the second sickle, the effective achieved 26,92% include in effective. Thus, AIR learning method was mostly effective to reduce the students' mistake in answering mathematics questions in the lesson of function relation in SMP Islam Al-Mu'ien.

Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics is learning to communicate (mathematical communication). Mathematical communication skills are useful in gaining a better understanding of mathematics and a longer memory of learning mathematics. There are differences in communicating ideas, one of which is caused by differences in personality types. The personality types referred to in this study are extrovert and introvert personality types. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to describe the profile of the extrovert and introvert students’ mathematical communication skills in solving the Three-Variable Linear Equation System question. This research was conducted in MAN 2 Jember and the research subject were all students of class X IPA 1. The data collection method used questionnaires and tests. The instruments used were personality type questionnaires, written test question, oral test question, and assessment rubrics. Based on the result of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that in general extrovert students and introvert students have similiarities and differences in written mathematical communication skills, namely extrovert students and introvert students alike can write down the information known from the questions, the type of methods to be used to solve the question, and use mathematical symbols. The differences is that introvert students can written down the steps for completion and conclusions, but not for extrovert students, this is because extrovert students end a job even though they have not found a solution. In analyzing a job, introvert students tend to take a long time, are more thorough, rushed, and give up easily in completing work. In general, it can be concluded that extrovert and introvert students can explain mathematical models from known information, state the type of methods to be used to solve problems, and used mathematical symbols. The difference is that extrovert students can explain the completion steps but not introvert students, this is because introvert students are hesitant and pessimistic, so they say cannot explain the completion steps even they not tried it.
