Abstract

Ganoderma boninense Pat. is one of the pathogens that infects young, immature and mature palm oil plants. Theinfection of the fungus can cause the death of palm oil plants, causing a decrease in the production of the plants.Alternative control of the disease is biological control using granular biofungicide containing Trichoderma harzianum.One factor that determines the success of the biofungicide is the dosage used. This study aims to determine the effect ofvarious dosages of T. harzianum granular biofungicide to control G. boninense and to study its effect on the growth ofyoung palm oil plants at pre nursery stage and obtain the best dosage in controlling G. boninense and to increasegrowth of young palm oil plants. This study was performed experimentally using completely randomized design consistingof 5 treatments and 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 2 young palm oil plants in medium of 4 kg soil/polybag.The treatment is dosage of granular biofungicide T. harzianum: 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 g/polybag. The data were analyzedstatistically using analysis of variance and the means of treatment were tested with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test(DNMRT) at level 5%. The results showed that dosage of granular biofungicide was significantly affected to control theG. boninense and to increase the height of the young plants and the volume of root of the young plant in the pre nurserystage. Dosage of granular biofungicide 10 g/polybag gave a better control to G. boninense (lowest diseases intensity:15,63 %) and to increase growth of young of palm oil plants than other dosages.

Abstract

The quality of seedling determines the growth and the productivity of plants in the field seedling. Optimum growthof seedling can be obtained through good nursery system. The physical, chemical and biological properties of nurserymedium can be improved by application of organic fertilizer, such as compost. This study aims to the effect of severaltypes of compost and get best compost dosage in inducing seedlings of Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora Pierre).Research has been conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 seedlings where 2 seedlings taken as sample. Data were analyzedstatistically using analysis of variance and means were tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level.Parameters observed were the increase of plant height (cm), the leaf number, leaf area, stem circle (cm) and the ratio ofthe root crown. The results indicated that the application of some compost affected the increase of seedling height, theleaf number and leaf area. Trichokompos gave the better seedling height and leaf number comparing to other compost.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was determine how the effect of lands use change from natural forest to plantationforest Acacia crassicarpa on some physical properties and chemical properties of peat soil. The research conducted inthe PT. BBHA, Bukit Batu Subdistrict, Bengkalis Regency, and Laboratory of Soil Science Agriculture Faculty, RiauUniversity. The research was conducted by survey method, with purposive sampling. Data was analysed by descriptiveand graphics model. The parameters were particle size distribution, bulk density, particle density, porosity, pH, organiccarbon, total nitrogen, total phosphor and base cations (K, Ca, Mg and Na). The result of research show that land usechange from natural forest to plantation forest Acacia crassicarpa was increasing total of smalles particle, bulk density,and particle density, while the porosity decreases. Then the increasing were pH, total nitrogen, total phosphor, and basecations K, Ca, Mg, Na is fluctuative, whereas for organic carbon was linierly. The longer time of land use change wasincreasing the decomposition of peat soil, which improves the physical properties and chemical properties of peat soil.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the effect of controlled release fertilizer application, soil conditioner and theinteraction of these two treatments on vegetative growth and nutrient uptake nitrogen and phosphorus of oil palmseedlings. The experiment was conducted in Research Department of First Resources Ltd, Riau in April 2013 untilJanuary 2014. Research design of the study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) two factors with 3replications. The first factor was the controlled release fertilizer application/CRF (P) as follows: P1: SR NPKMg 15-15-6-4, P2: CRF NPKMg 17-8-9-3, P3: CRF NPKMg 18-8-8-2, P4: CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3. The second factor was theapplication of soil conditioner (H) is H0 : Control, H: Liquid formulations of Bacillus sp, H2: Humic acid granularformulations, H3: Liquid formulations endopalma. The results showed that fertilization treatment CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3 is treatment that gives the higher all vegetative growth parameters and all nutrient uptake parameters. Soil conditionertreatment granular humic acid gives the higher for crown dry weight, root dry, root volume and plant height. Interactionof CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3 with control gives the higher for seed quality index, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf areaand nutrient uptake parameters include nitrogen and phosphorus.
