Abstract

Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is a crop plantation were a high economic value because it is a vegetable oil plant. In Indonesia, oil palm is important to increasing the country's income and able to improve people's fare well, especially in Riau Province. The study aimed to examine the effect of formulations liquid organic fertilizer contain active Bacillus sp. and get the best formulations on the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq). The research was conducted in Quarantine Laboratory, Pekanbaru and in the technical implementation unit of agriculture faculty of Riau University, in April until to October 2013. The methods of research is experimentally with using randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The data were analyzed statistically with using analysis of variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level α = 5%. The parameters measured were increase of seedling height, increase of the number of midrib, increase of circle stem, seedling root volume, root crown ratio and dry weight of plants. The results of the research showing that all treatment of formulations Bacillus sp. were tested has non significant effect on all parameters of observation. Formulations of Bacillus sp. with coconut water is the best formulation in increasing of palm oil seedling height and the tendency towards in increase of number of the midrib and plant dry weight. Abstract

This research aimed to observe the effect of deposited effluent application on land application in the peat medium on growth of palm oil seedlings in the main nursery. The research was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Jl. Bina Widya km 12.5 Simpang Baru Villae, Tampan District, Municipality of Pekanbaru. The experiment was conducted for 3  months, starts from February to April 2013. The research was conducted as experiments using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non-factorial that consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. To see the differences between treatments tested Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. Parameters  were observed are increased seedling height, increased leaf number, increased diameter stump, root volume, dry weight ratio of roots and canopies of palm oil seedlings. Result of research  have shown that effluent application with various doses significantly affected all parameters.   Keywords: mixed media, Effluent, palm oil seedlings.

Abstract

Organic fertilizers can be used for a cacao nursery is vermicompost, whereas inorganic fertilizer that can be used are urea. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vermicompost fertilizer and urea as well as getting the best combination treatment for the growth of cocoa seedlings. This research used experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the dose of vermicompost fertilizer (K) which consists of 4 levels and the second factor is the dose of urea (U), which consists of 4 levels. The parameters measured were seedlings height (cm), number of leaves (leaf), girth (cm), leaf area (cm2), ratio feature roots and dry weight (g). The data analysis results were significant statistical test followed by Duncan's test New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The conclusion of this analysis is that combination treatment of vermicompost fertilizer at a dose 75 g/polybag and urea 0.750 g/polybag affect leaf area and ratio feature roots. Vermicompost fertilizer factor at a dose of 75 g/polybag on cocoa seedlings affect seedlings height, girth, leaf area, ratio feature roots and dry weight, but had no effect on the number of leaves. Urea fertilizer factor at a dose of 0.750 g/polybag on cocoa seedlings affect seedlings height, leaf area and ratio feature roots, but did not affect the number of leaves, girth and dry weight. Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine influence of water volume and chicken manure on the growth and crop production of sweet corn and see the best treatment. Research was carried out in gauze house, experimental garden Faculty Agriculture University of Riau. The research carried out by using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two factors and three replications is the first faktor is the volume of water: water volume 1400 ml, 1050 ml of water, volume and water volume  of 700 ml. the secand faktor of chicken manure that is: with second commission of chicken manure 75 g/polybag, chicken manure 150 g/polybag, chicken manure and 225 g/polybag. Parameter is the height of the plants, the emergence of the male flowers, the riset of female flowers, hervisting, weight percob, cob length, cob diameter, cob weight without cornhusk. Treatment volume of 1400 ml of  water and 225 g of chicken manure/polybag give the best effecton weight cob without cornhusk is 439,8 9/polybag. Abstract

The research purpose tounderstandingthe weedcontrol anddominant weeds of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) plantation. The research was carried out in the village of Bangko Pusako Kabupaten Rokan Hilir from May until July 2014 with method survey, analyzed by quantitative statistics and were present in deskriptive.The sample collection by purposively sampling based on land area and age of plant. The total sample taken were 42 samples or 10 percent of 416 farmers palm oil and for the type of dominant weed done in vegetation with analysis quadrantmethod.Parameters that observed wereorigin of seed, cropping pattern distance, distance cropping, the population of plants , weeds dominant type , weed management techniques, rotation management, kind of a herbicide and dose of herbicide.The research results show farmers sample used weeds management technique with chemically and mechanically 76,2 % rate and 47.7 % farmers usedrotation management for 6 times a year, 52,38 % farmers used herbicide with active compoud  paraquat-dimethylamine, 52,3 % farmers used3l / hadose while K2I farm also do the same thing, but the management carry out twice a year. The  weeds dominant type in K2I and people farmisSpotaneum saccharum L. (shaken) 56,25 %. Keywords : weed control, dominant weed type, palm oil

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine as well as to get the best treatment on the growth of the cocoa plant. The research was conducted in August until November 2014 at the experimental garden of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya road 12.5 km Simpang Baru , Tampan, Pekanbaru.      This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and three repetition. The first factor is bokashi (B) consisting of 4 levels,                    were: 0 g / polybag (B0), 50 g / polybag (B1), 75 g / polybag (B2), 100 g / polybag (B3) and the second factor is Urine (U) which Consist 4 levels, were: 0 ml / L of water (U0), 300 ml / L of water (U1), 400 ml / L of water (U2) and 500 ml / L of water (U3). Parameters measured were: seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, stem circumference, seedling dry weight, and root crown ratio. Research results show that the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine with the dose of 75 g / polybag and        400 ml / L of water, is the best dose to increase seedling height, leaf area, dry weight and root crown ratio. Bokashi fertilizer with 75 g / polybag is the best dose for increasing seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, girth and dry weight. Cow urine application at the dose of 400 ml / L of water is the best dose for enhancing seedling height, leaf area and dry weight.   keyword: Cacao seedling, bokashi fertilizer, cow urine

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influences of extending compost dosage of Azolla microphylla for Cocoa seedlings and determine the Azolla microphylla compost dosage which produces growth is the best nursery cocoa seedlings compost. This research was conducted in the experiment stationthe Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru startied from November 2014 through April 2015. The research was conducted experimentally usingcompletely randomized design (CRD). The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. Parameters observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (pieces), leaf area (cm²), seeds dry weight (g) and the ratio of crown roots (g). The results showed that application of Azolla microphylla compost on cocoa seedlings significantly affected stem diameter and has no significant effect against high seedling, number of leaves, leaf area,seed dry weight and root crown ratio, however there was an increasing trend in growth of high seedling, number of leaves, leaf area, the weight of dry seed and root crown ratio without the application of Azolla. microphylla compost. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the storage material and the volume of irrigation water on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the Main Nursery and have been implemented in the Technical Implementation Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from June to October 2014. The study used completely randomized design (CRD) with two factorial factors and three replications. The first factor is the use of water-storage material (A), which consists of 4 levels: A0: Without the use of water-retaining material A1: Hydrogel 25 g / 10 kg soil, A2: Cocopeat 500 g / 10 kg soil, A3: Trunk bananas 50 g / 10 kg of the ground and the second factor is the volume of irrigation (V), which consists of three levels, namely: V1: 1 liter / day / bib it V2: 1.5 liters / day / seed V3: 2 liters / day / seed. The results showed the use of water storage material and the volume of water giving no real effect on seedling height increase, in the number of leaves, wrap accretion hump, dry weight of seed and seedling quality indices but significant effect on the ratio of the root crown. Hydrogel combination of 25 g / 10 kg soil and water provision volume 1 liters / day / seed tends to further increase in the number of leaves, wrap accretion hump seed, seedling dry weight, and seed quality index, while the combination of cocopeat 500 g / 10 kg soil and volume the provision of water 2 liters / day / seed tends to further increase the high accretion canopy ratios of seed and seedling roots. The growth of oil palm seedlings tend to be better with the use of water storage hydrogel material and cocopeat. The growth of oil palm seedlings tend to be better than the entire treatment volume of water provision.   Keywords: Palm oil, water-retaining materials, water

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of sludge palm oil waste on the growth of cocoa seedling (Theobroma cacao L.) on medium subsoil Dystrudepts and get the best dose. This research was conducted in October 2014 until January 2015 in the experimental station on the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya Campus Km 12.5 Simpang Baru Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted by using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments sludge palm oil waste are: S0 = 0 g/polybag, S1 = 50 g/polybag, S2 = 100 g/polybag, S3 = 150 g/polybag, S4 = 200 g/polybag and S5 = 250 g/polybag. Parameters measured were seedling height, stum circle, number of leaves, leaf area widest, root volume, the shoot root ratio and seedling dry weight. The results of research that using of sludge palm oil waste dose of 200 g/polybag to 250 g/polybag on medium subsoil Dystrudepts showed growth of cocoa seedling is best that indicated of increase the seedling height, stum circle, number of leaves, leaf area widest, root volume, the shoot root ratio and seedling dry weight. Abstract

The quality of seedling determines the growth and the productivity of plants in the field seedling. Optimum growthof seedling can be obtained through good nursery system. The physical, chemical and biological properties of nurserymedium can be improved by application of organic fertilizer, such as compost. This study aims to the effect of severaltypes of compost and get best compost dosage in inducing seedlings of Robusta coffee (Coffea canephora Pierre).Research has been conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 seedlings where 2 seedlings taken as sample. Data were analyzedstatistically using analysis of variance and means were tested by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level.Parameters observed were the increase of plant height (cm), the leaf number, leaf area, stem circle (cm) and the ratio ofthe root crown. The results indicated that the application of some compost affected the increase of seedling height, theleaf number and leaf area. Trichokompos gave the better seedling height and leaf number comparing to other compost.
