Abstract

Chili is one commodity that is widely consumed vegetable Indonesian society. Assembling a variety with a specificpurpose requires genetic information about the characters wanted. One way to obtain genetic information is throughthe estimation of variance components and heritability. The purpose of this study was to estimate the variance andheritability of quantitative characters in chili. This research was conducted at the experimental Leuwikopo, Departmentof Agronomy and Horticulture IPB, Bogor Darmaga from April to September 2009. The population used a total of 17genotypes Collection Genetics and Plant Breeding Laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. Genotypesused were IPB C2, IPB C4a, C5a IPB, IPB C10, C14 IPB, IPB C15, C19 IPB, IPB C20, C105 IPB, IPB C110, C126 IPB, IPBC128, C129 IPB, IPB IPBC131 C130, C132 IPB, and IPB C133. The experiment was arranged in a randomized completeblock design (RCBD) single factor with 2 replications. The results showed that the characters have a value of broadgenetic diversity are high dichotomous, plant height, crown width, stem diameter, flowering time, the time of harvest, fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter of the center, and the number of fruits per plant forquantitative and all characters have broad sense heritability values are high. This suggests that the genetic influenceis greater than the influence of the environment on the genotype.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the value of general combining ability, and specific combining abilityhybrids of parental crosses by half-dialel scheme on the peat land. The experiment was carried out on the peatlandRimbo Panjang Faculty of Agriculture Riau University. The genotypes consisting of 15 crosses from IPB half dialelcrosses chili in three replicates. To analyze general combining ability (GCA) or specific combining ability (SCA)influence of the variable, analysis of variance for diallel cross according to Griffing’s method 2 was used. The resultshows, the highest value of general combining ability of stem diameter, fruit diameter, fruit weight and total weight perfruit were obtained from genotype C5. Genotype C159 has high value of general combining ability of plant height, stemdichotomous and crown width, and Genotype C 120 has high value of general combining ability of length fruit.Meanwhile the highest specific combining ability based on yield component is genotype C5xC120

Abstract

Rubber plants (Hevea brasiliensis) is a important crop plantations in Indonesia and because contributor offoreign exchange after oil palm. The study aimed to examine the effect of bio-fertilizer formulations powder containactive Bacillus sp. and get the best formulations on the growth of rubber seedlings (Hevea brasiliensis) mini stumb. Theresearch was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology Faculty of Agriculture and the technical implementationunit of agriculture faculty of Riau University, in December 2014 until May 2015. The methods of research is experimentallywith using completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The data were analyzed statisticallywith using analysis of variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level á = 5%. The parametersmeasured were increase of seedling height increment, stem circumference, in the number of leaves, the ratio of crownroots and dry weight. The results of the research showing aplication formulations of Bacillus sp. were tested hassignificant effect on seedling height increment and the number of leaves but not real effect on stem circumference, theratio of crown roots and dry weight. Formulations Bacillus sp. with material peat is the best formulation to influenceseedling height increment and the number of leaves seed rubber mini stumb.

Abstract

Growth regulators such as gibberellic acid (GA3) is expected to remove and prevent barriers imposed by geneticand enviromnental effect on plant growth and supposed to increase crop production. In this study, we intended todetermine the effect of GA3 on agronomic and yield components of four soybean varieties. The field experiment wasarranged in a split plot design with three replications. Three levels of GA3 concentrations such as 0 ppm as control, 125ppm and 250 ppm were assigned as main plot and sprayed over the plant at 21 days after planting. Four varietiesincluding Kaba, Grobogan, Wilis and Anjasmoro were used as subplots and the seed of each variety was sown in a plotsize of 3,2 m x 3 m. Several growth parameters and yield components were observed from each plot. The results showedthat GA3 effect was inconsistent for the four varieties. It appeared from this study that GA3 did not affect leaf area index, time to flower, time to harvest, number of filled pods per plant, seed number per plant, and harvest index for all varieties.Application of GA3 at levels of 125 and 250 ppm increased crop growth rate, plant height and internode length of mainstem in all genotypes except Anjasmoro. The main impact of different levels of GA 3 application was an increase in seedweight per plant and grain yield. The highest grain yield was achieved with application of 125 ppm GA 3 for Kaba andGrobogan and of 250 ppm for Wilis and Anjasmoro. This imply that application of GA 3 to soybeans genotypes has to betaken care with cautiously according to the genotypes.

Abstract

One of the much-needed agricultural commodities in Indonesia is soybeans after maize and rice, both as a humanfood, animal feed and industrial raw materials. However, in the development of soybean plants some issues related toagro-ecosystem for planting must be overcome, one of which is not optimal weed management. Competition betweencrops and weeds can be overcome one of which is to provide soil cover (mulch) that can suppress the growth of weeds. The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of multiple doses of organic mulch reeds to its ability to suppressweed growth and yield of soybean plants. Under these conditions, the specific target of this research is to get a dose oforganic mulch reeds effective in suppressing weeds in soybean. In addition, to obtain soybean plants were healthy andfree of synthetic herbicides towards organic farming. The results of this study are expected to provide information tofarmers in the use of organic waste can be used as a ground cover or mulch to suppress weeds in soybean plants. Underthese conditions, the specific target of this research is to get a dose of organic mulch reeds effective in suppressing weedsin soybean. In addition, to obtain soybean plants were healthy and free of synthetic herbicides towards organic farming. The results of this study are expected to provide information to farmers in the use of organic waste can be used as aground cover or mulch to suppress weeds in soybean plants. In this experiment to test the effectiveness of various dosesof Reed mulch to suppress weed growth. Besides, community coefficient test, analysis of vegetation (SDR value of early, middle and SDR SDR end), weight broadleaf weeds, narrow leaves and type of puzzle-tekian. Plant growth (plantheight, shoot dry weight, number of pods containing, weight of 100 seeds, and soybean crops). The experiment wasconducted by using a randomized block design. Through this study it was found that the dose of mulch reeds that can beapplied as a soil cover (mulch) on soybean planting is at a dosage of 15 tons ha -1 (D3) and 20 tons ha -1 (D4).
