Abstract

CNC Programming (Computer Numerical Control Programming) is the art of programming CNC machines to make parts. An NC Program consists of a sequence of instructions that control the motion and automatic sequences of an NC Machine. In general sense, the term NC programming refers to the creation of control data for machining work-pieces on NC and CNC machines. The development of CNC systems has progressed as a result of the rapidly improving capabilities, coupled with falling prices, of small computers, a combination that makes the standard computer an attractive component of NC systems. NC programming has a decisive influence on the cost effectiveness and profitability of NC manufacturing. The selection of a programming system is essentially guided by the need for software that is suitable for the application at hand, readily available, and as universally applicable as possible.

Abstract

Conventional liquids and lubricants are widely used in machining processes throughout the world. However, this cutting liquid is the source of many environmental pollution problems. In order to reduce or eliminate the effect produced by cutting fluids, it is necessary to switch to a continuous machining technique such as using small amounts of cutting fluid, liquid nitrogen, vegetable oil or compressed air as a cooling lubrication medium. Cryogenic coolant is found to be more efficient, economical, cost-effective and environmentally friendly when compared to the conventional coolant, especially in mass production. In machining difficult-to-cut materials such as thin walled materials for the aerospace industry, cooling applications are needed. Ni-based superalloy, Inconel is a material for aerospace applications because of its high durability to wear and material that is resistant to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. This paper presents a review and explanation of thin wall machining using cryogenic cooling systems on inconel or aerospace materials.

Abstract

A configuration system for a product and model requires a parametric design. Where the system is made first, the first thing that needs to be done is the determination of the model. In this journal will discuss the configuration model that is the application of parametric design methods in the MTO environment. CNC program, the result is a variant of a product with good quality so that it can increase the production quantity. High potential short production time costs incurred a little and increase profits. CNC programs are made with various parameters then proceed with a product configuration system that will automatically run in the CNC program.

Abstract

Abstract

Manufacturing can be defined as applying physical and/or chemical processes to modify the structure, properties and/or appearance of a given starting material to produce parts or products. Manufacturing often entails combining multiple parts for the creation of assembled products. This study aimed to establish a general understanding of development production planning and control and typical production such as just in time and lean production. Method of this study through literature review. This study described activities related to production planning and production control, the difference between lean production and traditional production (push system), and the structure of lean production as known as Toyota system manufacturing.

Abstract

The breastshot waterwheels are suitable for low head condition because it offers a stable efficiency compared to other types of turbine. In some cases, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was utilized to predict the performance, geometry optimization or physical phenomena of a breastshot waterwheel, CFD offers easiness in terms of energy, time and cost than doing experimental test. Turbulence modeling is a mathematical method to approach the evolution of turbulence. The aim of this study is to identify the suitable turbulence model for a breatshot waterwheel. These three turbulence models were utilized: k-? standard, k-? scalable near wall function and SST k-?. The braking preloads in simulation was varied, which were 75 N m, 150 Nm, 225 N m and 300 N m. Based on grid convergence index (GCI), the 123k elements of mesh and timestep size of 0.002 s were used and when compared to the exact value, an error below 2% was found. Moreover, the k-? scalable near wall function model and the turbulent SST k-? model give the similar result in torque. Therefore, the simulation test to find torque will be more efficient if using the standard k-? turbulent model because it has computational time which is lower than the turbulent SST k-? model. For the eddy viscosity and turbulence intensity contour k-? standard turbulent model and k-? near wall scalable gives no significant differences, but SST k-? model doe. The simulation test to find eddy viscosity and turbulence intensity contour will be more accurate if using SST k-? model, because this model has the mean rate-of-rotation tensor function, ? , and the blending functions, that makes SST k-? model have better accuracy on the near wall calculation.

Abstract

Direct numerical control (DNC), also known as distributed numerical control (also DNC), is a common manufacturing term for networking CNC machine tools. On some CNC machine controllers, the available memory is too small to contain the machining program (for example machining complex surfaces), so in this case the program is stored in a separate computer and sent directly to the machine, one block at a time. If the computer is connected to a number of machines it can distribute programs to different machines as required. Usually, the manufacturer of the control provides suitable DNC software. However, if this provision is not possible, some software companies provide DNC applications that fulfill the purpose. DNC networking or DNC communication is always required when CAM programs are to run on some CNC machine control. Wireless DNC is also used in place of hard-wired versions. Controls of this type are very widely used in industries with significant sheet metal fabrication, such as the automotive, appliance, and aerospace industries. A DNC system has to fulfill two basic tasks such as first guaranteeing secure, timely data transfer from and to the CNC controllers, secondly administering many thousands of NC programs.
