Abstract

A number of studies have addressed the predictors that influence green purchasing, but none have specifically provided confirmation of which predictors are most influential. This study was conducted to determine the effective contribution and relative contribution of the predictors that influence the purchasing decision of environmentally friendly hotels. An incendetal survey was carried out on 87 tourists who stayed in environmentally friendly hotels, the result were statistically tested. Five predictors that are considered to influence green purchasing decisions are green experiences, environmental concern, hotel image, price, and reference groups. Effectively the five predictors contribute 84% to green purchases. Relatively all predictors have a contribution of up to 100% meaning that all five are correct predictors. Environmentally concern is the most influential predictor in green purchasing decisions. Overall, all predictors are strategies for green hotel businesses to increase the number of guests, in terms of green experience, environmentally concern, price, image, and reference groups.

Abstract

Advertising acts as a medium that will introduce a product or service provide an explanation of the benefits and attract someone to consume it. Nowadays advertisements can be displayed in print and electronic media. Businesses, non-profit organizations and even government agencies use almost all types of media to advertise. Padang City Tourism Office as a government agency that deals with Padang City tourism uses electronic media in promoting the attractions of Padang City. Promotional media used are Instagram, advertising media based on social media applications. This article aims to investigate whether the advertisements or information provided by Instagram has been effective. The effectiveness evaluation of the Instagram uses the EPIC Model approach which consists of four variable dimensions: (1) Empathy, (2) Persuasion, (3) Impact and (4) Communication. The four dimensions were analyzed through answers obtained through a survey of 120 respondents. From the analysis done, it can be seen that Instagram in general can be categorized as an effective promotional media. But there are still a few things that need to be considered so that the effectiveness of this media achieves maximum quality, namely: (1) The completeness and updating of the information presented must be maintained in order to attract empathy from the connoisseurs of advertising; (2) creativity in compiling ad content needs to be developed in order to appear happy feelings and desires to become followers of the Instagram account; (3) Instagram should have its own communication style such as creating an interesting narration to accompany a photo or video so as to create a deep impression for ad lovers.

Abstract

This study is intended to provide an overview of the position of countries in the world based on Gross Travel Propensity (GTP) and the Country Generation Potential Index (CPGI), which are expected to become one of the considerations in determining the potential market for tourism development. This study uses a formula developed by Hurdman. Using this formula, the results as follows: 58 from 89 countries with CPGI of more than 1.0 were obtained, indicating that this country produced more international tourists than expected from their population; Of these 58 countries, 23 countries have higher GTP than their country's population, meaning that these countries have a population with a tendency to travel abroad high, so that it will be very potential to put them as the main market; A total of 17 countries have more than half the GTP population, allowing these countries to be considered as secondary markets; While 18 other countries have GTP less than ½ of the population, so it has a low potential to be considered as a market. This study provides recommendations to the government in determining the country to be a target market for international tourists, from the perspectives aspect of the population and the number of tourist trips abroad produced in the country.
