Abstract

Fracture fixation in the bone require a stable, so that the bones in the recovery period did not experience an excessive burden and changing positions, for it takes a fixation device. This fixation device consists of two types that are planted within or outside the body. To keep bones and weight-bearing position, needed a material that has properties of a lightweight rustproof, and have stiffness. This study used a method developed by Asbhy and M. Farag in selecting materials to suit the required operating conditions, and a relatively cheap price. Candidate material composed of Aluminum alloy (Al 2014), 304 Stainless steel, Brass, Titanium alloy (Ti 6AL4V). Beryllium. Abstract

Palm oil is a potential resource in Banten. The document by General Directory of Plantation Jakarta (201) showed that Lebak and Pandeglang produce 25.249 of palm oil with area 3,888 ha dan 2,907 ha, respectively.The other matter is production capacity of palm oil increase with environment problem. This research will discuss about using fiber from oil palm’s empty fruit bunch as reinforce material for composite. The preparation of particle board used cold press single punch method in compaction pressure 3 bars.The Sengon wood particle is used for filler and epoxy resin and PVAc as a matrix. Volume fraction of fiber is 5%, 10% and 15%, respectively. The characteristics of particle board are showed by density, thickness extending, hardness, impact and flexural strength. The result showed that particle board with 15% fiber is the best characteristic of the composite. The density, thickness extending, surface hardness, flexural strength and impact is0.973 g/cm3, 1.025%, 26 N/mm2, 14.484 N/mm2, and8,247 kJ/m2, respectively.Keyword: particle board, oil palm’s empty fruit bunch, mechanical properties, volume fraction

Abstract

Electricity became the main support in the Steel Industry. Transformer as one tool to change the power supply voltage. Transformer uses transformer oil as the fluid insulation. Transformer oil must have good insulating properties. To determine the feasibility condition of transformer oil, one of the ways used is a test quantity of oil.  In this study used transformer oils; Korean products (sample 1), the new transformer oil domestic product (sample 2), as well as transformer oil mix with the existing transformer oil transformer oil in the country by volume mixing ratio in percent 40 and 60 (sample 3). Methods of tests performed, among others; testing Gas Chromatography Mass - Spectrometry (GCMS), testing Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), the test car Gas Chromatography (GC) and frosted tester. standard used to validate the test results refers to the testing standard ANSI / IEEE C57.104. Results of the test results obtained some part of them; GCMS resulted transformer oil has a compound that is either present in the sample 2 because it has no sulfur compounds, on TGA shows the sample who have weight loss that small is sample 1 and GC resulted sample 2 results were excellent because the oil in new condition, and also Diffuse test results shows good breakdown voltage tester contained in samples 2 and

Abstract

Machining of hard materials is an advanced machining technology. It can provide financial benefits of being able to reduce production costs. One of the limitations that the main problems is the formation of a white layer on the surface of product, formed during the machining process at high cutting temperatures. White layer is the layer structure has mechanical properties that hard and can to improve the wear resistance but also has a negative effect on the surface finish and fatigue strength of products. Because of its hard, white layer potential to cause failure cracks that ultimately lead to failure of the product. In this study aim to determine the effect of high cutting speeds on formation of white layer of AISI-01 alloy tool hardened steel 59.06 HRC using polycrystalline cubic boron nitride and CNGA-120 408 indexable cutting tool geometri. The methode of machining is variable speed machining, 80 m / min and 120 m / min. Scaning electron microscopes (SEM) was used to predict the surface topography which can explain the phenomenon of the white layer, while the composition was examined by EDX Ray. SEM observations showed that the application of higher cutting speeds can reduce the thickness of the white layer.Chemical composition of the material did not change significantly. Whereas the hardness test results show that this process does not lead to a decrease in material hardness values significantly.Keywords: white layer, hard machining, variable speed machinin

Abstract

Pulsator is one tool driving jig used PT. Timah Tbk in the process of separation of tin ores and minerals Downstream based differences in specific gravity (SG). Damage that occurs in the pulsator especially in the legs, can be caused by high vibration caused jig continuously during operation so as to make the bolt fastener will eventually become worn. Process improvements made PT. Timah (Persero) Tbk to damage pulsator foot is by means of welding, the connecting leg pulsator damaged (broken) with cast or plate material. Given the importance of the pulsator for tin ore separation process, we conducted a study of the results of the pulsator legs welded using electrodes AWS A5.15 cin-1, cin-cin-2 and 3 used PT. Timah (Persero) Tbk. The aim of this study is to find the right electrode is used for welding process that results weld toe pulsator can provide optimum strength welded construction. The research method is by way of experiment by comparing the electrode cin-1, cin-2 and cin-3 brand Nikko Steel against the welding process using the foot pulsator pulsator and plate material as the connection. After welding is done then analyze the results of the pulsator weld toe with the review of test results toughness, hardness and microstructure of welds. The test results obtained material cin-3 has a value of hardness and toughness that is higher than the material cin-1 and cin-2, with a value of 109 HRB hardness and toughness value of 6.53 joules/mm². The high hardness and toughtness of cin-3 compared with cin1 and cin-2 when showed from the microstructure of the material is cin-3 contained a very hard.Key words : Pulsator, cast iron, welding, Elektrode AWS A5.15
