Abstract

Nowadays high performance computing devices are more common than ever before. The capacity of main memories becomes very huge, CPUs get more cores and computing units that have greater performance. There are more and more machines get accelerators such as GPUs, too. Take full advantages of modern machines that use heterogeneous architectures to get higher performance solutions is a real challenge. There are so much literatures on only use CPUs or GPUs, however, research on algorithms that utilize heterogeneous architectures is comparatively few. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid sorting algorithm that let CPU cooperate with GPU. To fully utilize computing capability of both CPU and GPU, we used SIMD intrinsic instructions to implement sorting kernels that run on CPU, and adopted radix sort kernels that implemented by CUDA(Compute Unified Device Architecture) that run on GPU. Performance evaluation is promising that our algorithm can sort one billion 32-bit float data in no more than 5 seconds.

Abstract

The improved LDPC code decoding algorithm mainly refereed to improving decoding performance or reducing the decoding computation complexity. No matter hard decision or soft decision LDPC code decoding algorithm, we can get all ring number by one test, instead of testing each long ring number, after optimizing ring detection algorithm. We putted forward the application of Gaussian Markov Random Field model to realize the source parameter estimation, and make logarithmic likelihood ratio correction of bit sequence received by the channel decoding end. Joining source residual redundancy information to increase the decoder error correction ability. Source estimation adaptive variable can correct coefficient, and it was regulated by error rate. Under the condition that computational complexity increasedlittlely, the LDPC code decoding algorithm based on MRF effectively improved the decoding performance and implemented the improvement of LDPC code decoding algorithm .In the end, we realized the decoding algorithm by using FPGA.

Abstract

To verify whether the annual mosaic image of MTB model is acceptable for further digital analysis, it is necessary to evaluate the visual interpretability. The MTB model is an effort to integrate multi-scene and multi-temporal data, to obtain a minimum cloud cover mosaic image in locations that are often covered by clouds and haze. This study is to evaluate the interpretability of the annual mosaic image for analysis of the land cover changes. The data used are the images of 2015, 2016, and 2017 covers a part of central Sumatra. Visual interpretations with a series of steps are used, starting with identification of the objects using interpretation keys, followed by spectral band correlations, scattergram analysis, and ended by consistency assessment. The consistency assessment step is performed to determine the level of clearness and easiness of the object recognition in the annual mosaic images. The results showed that the most optimal spectral bands used for RGB combinations for visual interpretation were Band SWIR-1, Band NIR, and Band Red. Based on the evaluation results, the annual mosaic image of MTB model performed the consistent results of the clearness objects and the easiness of the object recognition. Thus the annual mosaic image of MTB model of 0.02x0.02 degree tile is acceptable for further digital processing as well as digital land cover analysis.

Abstract

IPv6 is the successor of IPv4, the current Internet Protocol that runs out its address. It offers some improvements including simpler header format and extension header resulting in faster transmission of IP packets. However, IPv6 is a network layer protocol that requires lower layer services. IP packets from the network layer pass to data link layer to be encapsulated by layer 2 headers and trailer to become frames. Ethernet is the most widely used data link layer protocol in the current network devices. The technology is always improved to support high speed transmission. However, from standard Ethernet until ten gigabit Ethernet, the size of MTU remains unchanged at 1500 Bytes. This prevents the network from gaining an optimum performance on transmitting IP packets and operating systems cannot take full advantage of the high-speed performance of Gigabit Ethernet. This research aims to implement the transmission of IPv6 packets using jumbo frame on a test-bed environment. The implementation can be used to justify the impact of jumbo frame on the network as well as operating systems performance. The results prove that the OS used on implementation of jumbo frame affects on the network performance. The highest percentage of increasing throughput is 33.6% when both sender and receiver are running Windows. The decreasing delay by 54.36% was happened when using Linux in sender and Windows in receiver.

Abstract

On Internet of Things network (IoT), connections established among every device that connected to the Internet. An IoT uses different communication method instead to that, the Internet uses. Internet of Things (IoT) applications, use a light weight protocol Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT). In this article an Internet of Things (IoT) system is presented, an advanced solution of monitoring the temperature and luminosity at different locations in a data centre of MQTT Server, measuring power consumption in 2 types of time of capturing data (every 0,5 min and every 1 min) making temperature and luminosity data visible over internet through cloud based dashboard. The quality of service (QoS) in some application is very crucial because the data collection is essential. This research focus on QoS in terms of power consumption as well as the battery life of the system. The results show that the battery life span is proportional to the QoS and the longevity of the battery and respectively the IoT network life depends on it.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of mental disorder that affects the mind, feeling, and behavior. Its treatment is usually permanent and quite complicated; therefore, early detection is important. Kernel KC-means and support vector machines are the methods known as a good classifier. This research, therefore, aims to compare kernel KC-means and support vector machines, using data obtained from Northwestern University, which consists of 171 schizophrenia and 221 non-schizophrenia samples. The performance accuracy, F1-score, and running time were examined using the 10-fold cross-validation method. From the experiments, kernel KC-means with the sixth-order polynomial kernel gives 87.18 percent accuracy and 93.15 percent F1-score at the faster running time than support vector machines. However, with the same kernel, it was further deduced from the results that support vector machines provides better performance with an accuracy of 88.78 percent and F1-score of 94.05 percent.

Abstract

There are many kinds of robots and among them the wheeled mobile robots (WMR) stand out, because they are relatively cheap and easy to build. These features make WMRs the test prototypes for control strategies or motion generation. In general, the controllers developed are based on sensory schemes that give an WMR the ability to travel through flat or obstructed environments. However, these strategies are highly reactive, i.e. they are based on the control-action scheme and are not adaptive; or, they are motion schemes built from simulations that assume the environmental conditions to determine the robot's path. In both cases, WMRs do not adapt perfectly to the change of environment, since the controller does not find appropriate movements for the  robot to move from one point to another. Therefore, this article proposesapartial solution to this problem, with a controller that generates sets of adaptive movements for an WMR to travel around its environment from the sensory perception information.

Abstract

In general, visual sensors are applied to build virtual view images. When number of visual sensors increases then quantity and quality of  the information improves. However, the view images generation is a challenging task in Wireless Visual Sensor Network environment due to energy restriction, computation complexity, and bandwidth limitation. Hence this paper presents a new method of virtual view images generation from selected cameras on Wireless Visual Sensor Network. The aim of the paper is to meet  bandwidth and energy limitations without reducing information quality. The experiment results showed that this method could minimize number of transmitted imageries with sufficient information..

Abstract

This paper presents the implementation of Web-SCADA on the hybrid wind-PV power system. Both the electrical paramaters such as current, voltage, power and the environment parameters such as wind speed, solar irradiation, and PV temperature are monitored remotely via Internet using a web browser. The SCADA system allows the user to control the hybrid power system remotely. The low cost sensor systems, RTUs and PLC are developed for implementing the SCADA system. The IntegraXor SCADA is employed as the Web-SCADA software. It provides the easy way for developing the Web-based SCADA application. The experimental results show that the Web-SCADA works properly in the monitoring and controlling the hybrid power system. The developed sensor systems provides the average error of 2.87%. The developed RTUs are able to acquire the sensor data and communicate with the SCADA server in real-time.
