Abstract

A new methodology for the design of adaptive sliding mode control (ASMC) for Asynchronous motor control will be presented in this paper. The sliding mode control (SMC) has become one of the most active branches of control theory that has found successful applications in a variety of engineering systems, such an the electrical motors. The new Adaptive sliding mode control method is compared to other existing techniques. The pros and cons of ASMC controller will be demonstrated by intensive simulation results. It will be shown that the presented controller is with fast tracking capability, less steady state error, and robust to load disturbance.

Abstract

Various research activities have been carried out, individually, in the fields of MOSFET design andanalysis, and magnetoresistance; however, ourresearch focused on the design and analysis of a magnetically switchable MOSFET with the application of magnetoresistive elements. Theoretical study, calculations and simulations were used in order to design and analyze the magnetically switchable MOSFET. It was observed that the magnetoresistance values of 42%, 81% and 95%, respectively, for giant magnetoresistive element, tunneling magnetoresistive element and colossal magnetoresistive element resulted in reduced resistance values of 139.2Ω, 45.6Ω and 12Ω across the MOSFET in presence of magnetic field; as compared to a higher value of 240Ω in its absence. As a consequence, the gate-source voltage increased beyond the threshold value (1.5V), and the MOSFET switched ON. Accordingly, a magnetically switchable MOSFET was designed and its behavioural characteristics were analyzed.

Abstract

This paper presents the influence of top-gate dielectric material for graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) using TCAD simulation. Apart from silicon-based dielectric that is typically used for top-gate structure, other high-dielectric constant (high-k) dielectric materials namely aluminum oxide and hafnium oxide are also involved in the analysis deliberately to improve the electrical properties of the GFET. The unique GFET current-voltage characteristics against several top-gate dielectric thicknesses are also investigated to guide the wafer fabrication engineers during the process optimization stage. The improvement to critical electrical parameters of GFET in terms of higher saturation drain current and greater on/off current ratio shows that the use of high-k dielectric material with very thin oxide layer is absolutely necessary.

Abstract

This paper presents a reduced size microstrip five poles hairpin band-pass filter using three-layers structure for Ku-band satellites application. The three-layers structure shows a substantially reduced filter size and enlarged bandwidth. The filter has been designed based on five-pole resonators at 12.475 GHz and bandwidth of 550 MHz. This filter is designed on Rogers RO3003 substrate having relative permittivity (εr) of 3. The proposed band-pass filter has been designed with the help of Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. Comparison analyses between the simulated insertion loss and reflection coefficient of RO3003 and FR4 substrates have been carried out in order to show the efficiency of the proposed filter design. Based on the obtained results, the proposed filter design achieves significant filter size reduction compared to other band-pass filters.

Abstract

The stroke patient will be having difficulty to control their upper limb, which causes their handling to become weak and unorganized. Conventional therapy designed to retrain the subject ability when it's losses due to stroke. As previous study concern that a subject with strong motivation and concentration of treatment tends to recover better than people who don't follow the program. This research focused on intensifying the training by providing user with Wheel robotic arm to train their upper limb. User will be asked to do exercising on moving particular objects to another position repetitively during a specific period. The robot will help the user to assist and relearn their motoric skill and improve muscle strength and coordination. The result of training is quite convincing when the user gives a positive response toward the practice. Around 86 percent of subject likely prefer the proposed system as their home-based rehabilitation system. The Anova testing with alpha 0.05 shows that there is no significant difference between trained subject and untrained subject on operating the wheeled robotic arm. It's mean the proposed system is reliable and user friendly to be used without an assistant so user can have more flexibility and improve their accomplishment on regaining their motoric skills. The future work will focus on stroke patient testing with more challenge and obstacle in enhancing the effectiveness of the stroke rehabilitation system.

Abstract

The deep learning approach of supervised recurrent network classifiers model, i.e., recurrent neural networks (RNNs), long short-term memory (LSTM), and gated recurrent units (GRUs) are used in this study. The unidirectional and bidirectional for each cardiac disorder (CDs) class is also compared. Comparing both phases is needed to figure out the optimum phase and the best model performance for ECG using the Physionet dataset to classify five classes of CDs with 15 leads ECG signals. The result shows that the bidirectional RNNs method produces better results than the unidirectional method. In contrast to RNNs, the unidirectional LSTM and GRU outperformed the bidirectional phase. The best recurrent network classifier performance is unidirectional GRU with average accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1-score of 98.50%, 95.54%, 98.42%, 89.93% 92.31%, respectively. Overall, deep learning is a promising improved method for ECG classification.

Abstract

Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) that has the advantages of high performance, high fuel efficiency, low emission, and long operating range is focused on nowadays. A new hybrid power configuration used in HEV is presented with different control strategies and HEV performances when equipping different weight of fuel power and battery one. In order to realize the new hybrid power configuration especially in the refitted HEV, fractional-slot concentrated-winding BLDC with higher rated spinning speed is given and the prototyped one is developed and fabricated which satisfies successfully the requirements of high performance and demission restriction for the refitted HEV.

Abstract

Study of multi-robot system has been popular in recent years. This system is able to reduce processing time of some processes, the cost and complexity of the system. However, multi-robot system also has some problems. One of the problems faced by these systems is how to control robots in a certain formation when carrying out its functions. Several methods have been offered to resolve the existing problems. This study tries to offer a method to solve the problem, by modeling the multi-robot systems and implement a control system in order to maintain a specific formation. The study attempted to use a controller based on knowledge base system. Model is developed using MATLAB software and simulated to determine the performance. Several experiments are conducted to determine the movement of the robot and its ability to maintain a specific formation. From the experiments it can be said that the modeling of multiple-robot system has been reliable. In addition, formation control actions have also been running well, although there should be further development.

Abstract

Pricing scheme in wireless networks were developed to provide maximum benefit to the internet service provider (ISP), where the given scheme can guarantee customer satisfaction and service providers who use such services. So that the proposed model should be able to attract consumer interest in applying such services. In this research we established wireless pricing model that involve QoS attributes then the model will be transformed into a model of optimization. Pricing models in wireless networks will be studied by looking at existing models as a nonlinear programming problem that can be solved optimally using LINGO 11.0. The solution is to maximize the total price for the connection based on the QoS parameters. Optimal results in the maximizing of pricing scheme is achieved when providers set the increase of price changes due to QoS changes and number of QoS value.
