Abstract

Applications of microcantileversas biosensors have been explored by many researchers for the applications in medicine, biological, chemistry, and environmental monitoring. This research discusses a design of measurement method and simuations forpiezoresistivemicrocantileveras a biosensor, which consist of designing Wheatstone bridge circuit as object detector, simulation of resonance frequency shift based on Euler Bernoulli Beam equation, and microcantilever vibration simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics 3.5. The piezoresistivemicrocantilever used here is Seiko Instrument Technology (Japan) product with length of 110 μm, width of 50 μm, and thickness of 1 μm. Microcantilever mass is 12.815 ng, including the mass receptor. The sample object in this research is bacteria EColi. One bacteria mass is assumed to 0.3 pg. Simulation results show that the mass of one bacterium will cause the deflection of 0.03053 nm and resonance frequency value of 118.90 kHz. Moreover, four bacterium will cause the deflection of 0.03054 nm and resonance frequency value of 118.68 kHz. These data indicate that the increasing of the bacteria mass increases the deflection value and reduces the value of resonance frequency.

Abstract

Queue management system is designed in organizing queues at service sectors like banks and post offices, which expected to have a large number of customers daily. Conventional ways of managing queues like issuing paper tickets printed with queue number, leads to several problems such as paper tickets littering and also long queueing or waiting time. Therefore, this paper presents the development of a system to manage queues more efficiently and eco-friendly. The proposed system consists of a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which is used to obtain customers’ mobile phone numbers and the processing unit, which generates the queue number and initiate the ticket to be sent to customers’ mobile phones via SMS, thus replacing the utilization of papers. Moreover, this system additional features allow customers to remotely obtain their queue number just by sending request to the system through SMS, and also reminding the upcoming customers that their turns are nearly arriving, a feature which is very useful especially for those who are waiting outside the premise. Simulations and experimental tests were conducted to ensure the reliability and the efficiency of the proposed system. The proposed system is supporting the development of sustainable green technology, and the expected increase of system efficiency may contribute in improving customers’ satisfaction.

Abstract

Vietnam is located in the tropical monsoon climate, so there are many storms affecting the marine environment each year. However, Vietnam’s sea also has distinct characteristics due to the continental shelf factors, salinity, sea currents and viscosity water. In this paper, the sea weather effects to the ship in the sea area from BinhThuan province to Ca Mau province are analyzed. Specifically, wave, wind and current which are the three main factors affecting the safety of ship are thoroughly examined. Importantly, the survey parameters have been built from the actual operating environment. In addition, maintaining the stability of dynamic positioning system in Vietnam weather conditions is the main point of this study.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) trail of star seeing over ITERA Astronomical Observatory (IAO) using surface meteorological parameter during site selection to develop observatory. The one-day surface meteorological observation such as Pressure (P), Temperature (T), and Humidity (H) and trail of Albireo (β Cyg) star seeing value was taken from Mt. Betung, Lampung, Indonesia. The surface meteorological data are analyzed to obtain Albireo (β Cyg) star seeing value in 3 to 4 August 2017. By using statistical method obtained the seeing value in daily variation of Albireo (β Cyg) star trail with surface meteorological as a predictor parameter. The standard error of estimate (S-Value) between predictor parameter (pressure and humidity) with Albireo star seeing are reached 0.0027543 in two days variation. Based on the result, the three Membership Functions (MFs) with Gaussian function was proposed in this study to develop FIS trail of star. The result shows that the configuration analysis from input parameter FIS with 15 role bases from surface meteorological parameter has successful to targeted with Albireo (β Cyg) star trail. The 15 role bases from FIS was used to estimate seeing value from meteorological parameter in near future.

Abstract

This paper represents design of a wideband Rectangular Dielectric Resonator antenna fed by an aperture coupled technique. A bandwidth of 2.2 GHz has been achieved using a cross slot aperture in a ground plane for Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA). The simulated gain value achieved is 6.5dBi. The Rectangular Dielectric Resonator which has been designed in this paper can be used in 5G application frequency band of 24.25-27.5 GHz. The calculated percentage bandwidth is 15.38 %. An optimization of slot dimensions has also mentioned which can help to select a desired impedance match. The measured gain and bandwidth are efficient to use this design for various 5G applications. This unit cell wideband DRA can be used for millimeter wave frequencies of 5G.

Abstract

A robust, low cost, open-source, and low power consumption in the research of prosthetics hand is essential. The purpose of this study is to develop a low-cost, open-source anthropomorphic prosthetics hand using linear actuator based on electromyography (EMG) signal control. The main advantages of this proposed method are the low-cost, lightweight and simplicity of controlling the prosthetic hand using only single channel. This is achieved by evaluating the DC motor and exploring number of locations of the EMG signal. The development of prosthetics hand consists of 3D anthropomorphic hand design, active electrodes, microcontroller, and linear actuator. The active electrodes recorded the EMG signal from extensor carpi radialis longus. The built-in EMG amplifier on the electrode amplified the EMG signal. Further, the A/D converter in the Arduino microcontroller converted the analog signal into digital. A filtering process consisted of bandpass and notch filter was performed before it used as a control signal. The linear actuator controlled each finger for flexion and extension motion. In the assessment of the design, the prosthetic hand capable of grasping ten objects. In this study, the cost and weight of the prosthetics hand are 471.99 US$ and 0.531 kg, respectively. This study has demonstrated the design of low cost and open-source of prosthetics hand with reasonable cost and lightweight. Furthermore, this development could be applied to amputee subjects.

Abstract

One of the most important problems of clustering algorithms in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is the relatively low stability in generated clusters which are resulted by rapid clusters destruction and high energy consumption in performing the re-clustering processes. Many algorithms have been provided to increase the clusters stability of which the most significant are weight-based algorithms. In weight-based algorithms, only limited information of each node is used to determine its weight and it causes that the best possible option for cluster-head is not selected. The purpose of this paper is providing one weight-based algorithm in which each node's weight determination is performed not only by using its node information but also its neighbor’s nodes information and this work is performed by determining the links' weight between nodes that provide connections between nodes. Via this method, the best possible options can be selected as cluster-head. In simulations and performed experiments, it is revealed that the generated clusters by our proposed algorithms have very high stability.
