Abstract

As FPGA dynamic partial reconfiguration getting into mainstream, design of reconfiguration controller becomes an active research. Most of the existing reconfiguration controllers support only the loading of partial bitstream into configuration memory without allowing user to access ICAP directly, which can provide user higher controllability over the reconfigurable device. This paper presents the architecture of a customized reconfiguration controller with remote direct ICAP access. Remote direct ICAP access allows user to configure or readback device internal registers, which offer user higher controllability over the reconfigurable device. Additionally, the proposed reconfiguration controller achieved at least 3.19 Gbps of reconfiguration throughput, which reduces the platform service downtime during dynamic partial reconfiguration. In order to reduce the latency and transmission overhead of remote functional update, partial bitstream is compressed with run-length encoding before transmission.

Abstract

E-shops are among the most conventional applications of Electronic Commerce. In these shops, the buyers search for their goods through key words or classifications and read the product description provided by the sellers. Though, when the number of items is high, this gets to be difficult for the users. On the one hand, there are too many e-shops, and browsing in these shops to find the best and most appropriate goods is a difficult and time-consuming process. On the other hand, product descriptions are not the same in different websites, and there are different product forms. This study investigates about products and sellers in various websites based on the conditions and user requirements through software agents which present the extracted information in the form of a table to the users which enables them to compare prices and each seller’s conditions without spending too much time for browsing. Using this method increases precision and recall indices comparing to a conventional user browsing.

Abstract

Measuring organizational performance is pivotal for a comprehensive understanding of strengths, weaknesses and to improve the quality of any organization’s performance. Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is the strategic evolution tool that is widely used to measure the organizational performances, and achievements from various aspects, both financial and non-financial. In this research, BSC was not only a straight jacket concept but also a high potential tool for measuring and managing tangible and accurate data through the application of several methods. This research weighted the variables of BSC based on significance values of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Optimization of Measurement with Objective Matrix (OMAX). Moreover, a recommendation analysis was given based on the cause and effect analysis of variables and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The flow of information, data, and performance measurement processes were designed into Business Intelligence (BI) software development i.e. BI-MonevDash. The framework and software BI-MonevDash proposed can be used as a new chosen tool for measuring and monitoring organizational performance. Recommendations could facilitate the leaders in decision making to improve the organizational performance and reduce risks.

Abstract

Load flow analysis has always been used in determining the steady-state operation of an electric power or distribution system. For conventional power system without wind turbine generator, the method for load flow analysis has been well established. However, for modern system embedded with wind turbine generator, the investigation of analysis method is still an active research area. This paper proposed a new method to integrate fixed-speed wind turbine generator into distribution system load flow analysis. The proposed method is derived based on two-port network theory where the parameters of induction generator of the wind turbine generator are embedded in general constants of the two-port network. The proposed method has been tested and verified using a representative electric distribution system.

Reasonable effort should be made to remove references to this paper.-----------------------------------------------------------------------This study describes the use of the TB6600 motor driver for the stepper motor on CNC machine. Based on the analysis of the performance of the TB6600 motor driver, in order to produce an optimal stepper motor of Nema23 on CNC machine, three stepper motors are needed as the CNC engine drives for the X, Y and Z axeo be connected to the TB6600 motor driver. The motor is then controlled by Raspberry Pi via Mach3 Interface Board of Breakout Board. The softness of motion and safe working temperature for the stepper motor of Nema23 on CNC machine are obtained by varying the control of the micro-step switches and controlling current switches. The results show that 32 steps of micro-step control produce smoother resonance and movement than smaller micro-steps. In addition, the current control of 1 A generates the best motor driver output with a lower temperature for all three stepper motors.

Abstract

There are three types of paddy leaf diseases that have similar symptoms, making it difficult for farmers to identify them, namely blast, brown-spot, and narrow brown-spot. This study aims to identification paddy plant diseases based on texture analysis of Blobs and color segmentation. Blobs analysis is used to get the number of objects, area and perimeter. Color segmentation is used to find out some color parameters of paddy leaf disease such as the color of the lesion boundary, the color of the spot of the lesion, and the color of the paddy leaf lesion. To get the best results, four methods have been chosen to obtained the threshold value, Otsu threshold value, variable threshold value, local threshold value and global threshold value. The best accuracy of the four methods using threshold variables is 90.7%. The results of this study indicate that the method used has been very satisfactory in identifying paddy plant disease.

Abstract

The rapid development in communications and sensors technologies make wireless sensor networks (WSNs) as essential key in several advanced applications such as internet of things (IoT). The increasing demands on using WSNs required high quality of services (QoS) because most WSNs applications have critical requirements. This work aims to offer a routing protocol to improve the QoS in WSNs, taking in consideration its ability to prolong the lifetime of the network, optimize the utilization of the limited bandwidth available, and decrease the latency that accompanies the packets transmitted to the gateway. The proposed protocol is called overlapped hierarchical cluster routing protocol (OHCRP). OHCRP is compared with the traditional routing protocols such as SPEED, and THVR. The results show that OHCRP reduces latency effectively and achieve high energy conservation, which lead to increase the network lifetime and insure network availability.

Abstract

The pairwise alignment (PA) algorithm is widely used in bioinformatics to analyze biological sequence. With the advance of sequencer technology, a massive amount of DNA fragments are sequenced much quicker and cheaper. The alignment algorithm needs to be parallelized to be able to align them in a shorter time. Many previous researches have parallelize PA algorithm using various data partitioning schema, but it is unclear which one is the best. The data partitioning schema is important for parallel PA performance, because this algorithm use dynamic programming technique that needs intense inter-thread communication. In this paper, we compared four partitioning schemas to find the best performing one on shared memory system. Those schemas are: blocked columnwise, rowwise, antidiagonal, and blocked columnwise with manual scheduling and loop unrolling. The last schema gave the best performance of 89% efficiency on 4 threads. This result provided fine-grain parallelism that can be used further to develop parallel multiple sequence alignment (MSA).

Abstract

At most, motion generation on robot is usually done through complex computation in off-line mode and straightforward method. In straightforward method, the operator drives robot to certain pose either with moving manipulator tool-tip with hand or remotely. Once the desired pose achieved, the current pose is saved to memory. However, these methods are time consuming. An easy and quick approach is by imitating an object motion to robot with sensing devices. There have been numerous efforts for motion imitation either by using position sensitive detector (PSD) or by using stereo camera. However, a calibrated pre-condition should be done initially, which is not possible for natural movement. Here, this paper proposed motion preservation by capturing human motion naturally through Kinect and then reproduced human motion on humanoid robot simultaneously. In addition, the motions are also preserved in database for later used on robot motion generation and teaching as well. Furthermore, the robot motions are developed to run smoothly and close to human eye ability. The proposed method has been validated in experimental results by capturing and reproducing human motion on robot in rate of 20Hz with340us computation cost for each process.

Abstract

This paper describes simulation result of two methods in current controlling for carrier based VSI-PWM inverter: hysteresis and ramp comparison control.  The simulation useful in selection of ASDs and generally–converter, from power quality point of view. Simulation result show that both ramp comparison and hysteresis control methods  gives difference characteristic on line voltage and line current. A ramp comparison method is better in form of lower effect on line current distortion compare with hysteresis control method. Meanwhile, for line voltage distortion, hysteresis control seen better.
