Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify the effectiveness of metacognition regulation training to increase the ability of math problem solving. The research subjects were 20 high school students at XI grade in science major. They were randomly divided into two groups, experiment group and control group. Mann Whitney-U Test was used to analyze change in ability of math problem solving through gained score. The result shows there is no difference between experiment group and control group after training (Z=-0.189, p=0.850, p>0.05). The research result shows that metacognition regulation training is not effective to increase the ability of math problem solving.

Abstract

Performance appraisal is a crucial aspect to effective human resource management. However there are evidences that current processes are not very effective. Employees will accept the appraisal system if they perceive that the procedure on appraisal system is fair. This study reports the experience with relatively new appraisal system. The system of 360 degree performance appraisal, utilizes ratings from peers, supervisor, and employee. This experiment used 26 of college students from one of university in Yogyakarta as subjects that were divided randomly in to experiment group and control group. Perceive of procedural fairness scale was used to measure perceive of performance appraisal procedural fairness. Result supported the hypotheses that 360 degree performance appraisal was effective to increase perceive of performance appraisal procedural fairness (F=89.229; p= 0.000; p<0.05) and gave 78.8 % to perceive of performance appraisal procedural fairness. The result also indicated that there was a significant difference between experiment group and control group after the intervention was given to experiment group (F=18.416; p=0.000 p>0.05). Perceive of performance appraisal procedural fairness on experiment group significantly increased after 360 degree performance appraisal simulation was given (F=91.460; p=0.000; p<0.05).

Abstract

This research was the quantitative research aimed at knowing how far relations between intelligence and perfectionism on the gifted students in the acceleration class. The method of the data collection in this research was the document of the Intelligence Quotient score data (IQ) from the CFIT intelligence test the scale 2 forms ofA & B to be intelligence variable, whereas the scale of perfectionism with the reliability coefficient 0.803 to be the perfectionism variable. Data processing was carried out with the SPSS computation system 13.0 for Wmdows. Try out for the scales were done before. The data analysis, using product moment to examine the correlation between intelligence variable and perfectionism variable, obtained p=0.097 (p>0.05). This showed that there was no correlation between intelligence variable and perfectionism variable on the gifted child in the acceleration class.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine empirically the relationship between positive thinking and self acceptance. Subjects were adolescences, aged 18-24 years old who have physical defect caused by accident. Data collecting by self-acceptance scale and positive thinking scale. Data analysis used product moment correlation from Pearson. Data analysis showed the coefficient correlation between positive thinking and self acceptance, r =0.696 and p = 0.000 (p<0.01). It means there is significantly positive relationship between positive thinking and self-acceptance on the adolescences that have physical defect caused by accident. The higher positive thinking, the higher self-acceptance of the adolescences that have physical defect caused by accident will be. The lower positive thinking, the lower self-acceptance of the adolescences that have physical defect caused by accident will be. Positive thinking gives effective contribution to self-acceptance as well as 48.4 %. The rest 51.6% are from other variables that influence self-acceptance.
