Abstract

Among the most severe crash scenarios are those caused by driver’s decisions to manoeuvre the vehicle to the adjacent lanes. In most scenarios, drivers’ intentionally change lanes to take over another slower vehicle and preserving the current vehicle speed especially on highway road. The decision may be fatal for drivers of incoming or approaching vehicles which are not aware of the intention and fail to reduce their vehicle speed to avoid lane change collision. Hence, this study proposes a lane change decision aid and warning system which aims to support the driver’s decision prior to performing the lane change on highway road where vehicles are travelling in a single direction. The system implements vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) via long-range (LoRa) communication technology to alert the host vehicle of approaching vehicles and warns the approaching vehicle when a host vehicle intends to change lane. Visual and audible warning will be triggered as precaution mechanism for both host and approaching vehicle drivers. Experiments shows that V2V using LoRa can provide contextual information which are useful to assist drivers in deciding whether to change lane or not on highway use case settings.

Abstract

The economic power dispatch (ED) is considered a critical optimization issue in the power system and microgrid. There are several objectives through the economic load dispatch issues such as reducing the operating cost, total emission, or start-up operations. This paper presents a Chameleon swarm algorithm (CSA) for determining the optimal ED of distributed energy resources (DER) in the microgrid. The proposed technique numerically mimics and executes chameleons' behavioral processes to their quest for food, such as their action for rotating their eyes to identify and grab prey using the speed of their sticky tongues. In this study, the CSA has been applied to obtain the optimal power dispatch from DER using the photovoltaic (PV) plants, combined heat power (CHP) systems, and traditional diesel generators. The obtained results from the simulation are compared with the conventional metaheuristic algorithms which have been used in previous studies, such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), genetic algorithm (GA), and artificial bee colony (ABC). Experimentally, the proposed algorithm for solving the ED problem determined the best value of the power dispatch and high performance compared to other metaheuristics methods.

Abstract

Power quality (PQ) problems for renewable energy system (RES) is major challenge for using these systems. Amplitude, frequency, and waveform is important PQ parameters especially for standalone or isolated systems. In this paper we propose RES with wind turbine (WT) and permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) to feed different loads (liner, non-liner) through AC-DC-AC converter. The PMSG operate with fuzzy logic inertia controller, to convert turbine torque form PU to Nm. The inverter stage in the converter operate according to proportional integral derivative (PID) controller with 3rd harmonic injection pulse width modulation (PWM) to regulate the AC voltage in load side. For the same case study and operating condition, we compared the result for system parameters when using ordinary PWM and using PID with 3rd harmonic injection. Voltages total harmonics distortion (THD) was less than 2% with liner loads, and 3.5% with non-liner load and the same was for current load, the voltage amplitude was between (1-1.03) PU under different wind speed by using the proposed controller.

Abstract

Lung disease can be diagnosed with the image-based medical devices, including radiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The devices are very expensive and have negative effects. An alternative device is electrical impedance tomography (EIT). The advantages of EIT arelow cost, fast, real-time, and free radiation, so it is very appropriate to be used as a monitoring device. The relative reconstruction method has succeeded in producing functional images of lung anomalies by simulation. In this study, the relative reconstruction method was used to obtain functional images of four lungs conditions, namely a healthy person, patient with left lung tumor with organized left pleural effusion, one with pulmonary tuberculosis with right pneumothorax and one with pulmonary tuberculosis with left pleural effusion. The relative reconstruction method can be used to obtain functional images of an individual’s lung conditions by using expiratory-respiratory potential data with results that can distinguish between the lungs of a healthy person and a diseased patient, but the position of the lung disease may have less details. The potential data from comparison between the data of a patient and a healthy person can be used as a reference to obtain more accurate functional image information of lung disease.

Abstract

An abstract is often presented separately from the article, so it must be able to in the following article the use of the mobile application is recommended as a tool that serves public safety because currently crimes of extortion and fraud are committed by making false calls to people's mobile devices. Therefore, the objective of this research is to help families with their welfare and safety and motivate the use of mobile applications. In the present work the situation, task, action, dan result (STAR) methodology was applied to elaborate the present work, this technique will allow improving the difficulties of the people. This methodology is very important because it is used to evaluate the circumstances in which people find themselves, a sequence must be followed to achieve the proposed objectives. The result obtained is an average of 84.5% on the design of the mobile prototype; being approved by the experts. The beneficiaries of the research are citizens through the mobile application.
