The extensive use of non-linear loads in domestic, industrialand commercial services origin harmonic complications.Harmonics make malfunctions in profound equipment, voltage drop across the network, conductor heat increases and overvoltage through resonance. All these problems can be remunerated by using Unified Power Quality Controller (UPQC) and the operation of UPQC depends upon the available voltage across capacitor present in dc link. If the capacitor voltage is maintained constant then it gives satisfactory performance. The proposed research is basically on designing of Wind energy fed to the dc link capacitor of UPQCso as to maintain propervoltageacross it and operate the UPQC for power quality analysis. The proposed technique is the grouping of shunt and series Active Power Filter (APF) to form UPQC which is fed wind energy system and connected to grid for better response in the output. In this paper, the simulation model of series APF, shunt APF, UPQC and Wind energy with UPQC are design in Matlab. The proposed Wind energy-UPQC is design in Matlab simulation for reduction of voltage sag, swell, harmonics in load current and compensation of active and reactive power.

A video-based fall detection system was presented; which consists of data acquisition, image processing, feature extraction, feature selection, classification and finite state machine. A two-dimensional human posture image was represented by 12 features extracted from the generalisation of a silhouette shape to a quadrilateral. The corresponding feature vectors for three groups of human pose were statistically analysed by using a non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test to assess the different significance level between them. From the statistical test, non-significant features were discarded. Four selected kernel-based Support Vector Machine: linear, quadratics, cubic and Radial Basis Function classifiers were trained to classify three human posture groups. Among four classifiers, the last one performed the best in terms of performance matric on testing set. The classifier outperformed others with high achievement ofaverage sensitivity, precision and F-score of 99.19%, 99.25% and 99.22%, respectively. Such pose classification model output was further used in a simple finite state machine to trigger the falling event alarms. The fall detection system was tested on different fall video sets and able to detect the presence offalling events in a frame sequence of videos with accuracy of 97.32% and low computional time.

The adoption of e-learning in developing countries like Indonesian Universities have been focused in urban areas like the big cities, especially in Java island. There is a lack of development of e-learning in a remote city like Kupang East Nusa Tenggara Indonesia which is located far away from the capital city. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of e-learning by analyzing three factors in one of the higher institution in Kupang city, i.e. Sekolah Tinggi Kesehatan Citra Mandiri Husada Kupang (STIKes CHMK). The factors include culture, technology and infrastructure, and content satisfaction. The data were collected using questionnaires. Research shows that with proper preparation for e-learning, the acceptance of e-learning in rural areas is significantly high. This finding suggests that e-learning can greatly benefit the students like Kupang city in developing countries.

This paper presents the assessment of stability domains for the angle stability condition of the power system using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. An efficient optimization method using PSO for synchronizing torque coefficients Ks and damping torque coefficients Kd to identify the angle stability condition on multi-machine system. In order to accelerate the determination of angle stability, PSO is proposed to be implemented in this study. The application of the proposed algorithm has been justified as the most accurate with lower computation time as compared to other optimization techniques such as Evolutionary Programming (EP) and Artificial Immune System (AIS). Validation with respect to eigenvalues determination, Least Square (LS) method and minimum damping ratio ξmin confirmed that the proposed technique is feasible to solve the angle stability problems.

Digital color images are now one of the most popular data types used in the digital processing environment. Color image recognition plays an important role in many vital applications, which makes the enhancement of image recognition or retrieval system an important issue. Using color image pixels to recognize or retrieve the image, but the issue of the huge color image size that requires accordingly more time and memory space to perform color image recognition and/or retrieval. In the current study, image local contrast was used to create local contrast victor, which was then used as a key to recognize or retrieve the image. The proposed local contrast method was properly implemented and tested. The obtained results proved its efficiency as compared with other methods.

In recent years, cross spectral matching has been gaining attention in various biometric systems for identification and verification purposes. Cross spectral matching allows images taken under different electromagnetic spectrums to match each other. In cross spectral matching, one of the keys for successful matching is determined by the features used for representing an image. Therefore, the feature extraction step becomes an essential task. Researchers have improved matching accuracy by developing robust features. This paper presents most commonly selected features used in cross spectral matching. This survey covers basic concepts of cross spectral matching, visual and thermal features extraction, and state of the art descriptors. In the end, this paper provides a description of better feature selection methods in cross spectral matching.

This research paper presents two different types of multiband patch antenna. The first design is a dual-band antenna and the second design is a quad-band antenna. Both the antennas have a compact size of , and is designed on FR4 substrate with loss tangent (=0.02, height (h)=1.6 mm, with dielectric constant of 4.4. The dual-band antenna operates at frequencies 3.9 and 5.71 GHz. These dual band operations are accomplished by utilizing L-shaped slot in the ground part and T-shaped slot in the radiating part of the patch antenna. The gain corresponding to the two frequency bands are 1.27 and 1.35 dB, respectively. The quad band antenna operates at frequencies 3.6, 4.9, 7.4 and 8 GHz. The gain corresponding to these frequencies are 0.18, 1.69, 2.25 and 3.99 dB. For achieving quad band operation from the dual band antenna the back plane L-shaped slot is modified by cutting a rectangular strip in the middle, hence dividing it into two different slots. The front plane is also modified by introducing two rectangular strips to the T-shaped patch. The proposed antenna shows multiband and has the advantage of simple structure compact size and good impedance matching. All the simulations of the proposed design are carried out in HFSS v.13.0.

Robots can be mathematically modeled with computer programs where the results can be displayed visually, so it can be used to determine the input, gain, attenuate and error parameters of the control system. In addition to the robot motion control system, to achieve the target points should need a research to get the best trajectory, so the movement of robots can be more efficient. One method that can be used to get the best path is the SOM (Self Organizing Maps) neural network. This research proposes the usage of SOM in combination with PID and Fuzzy-PD control for finding an optimal path between source and destination. SOM Neural network process is able to guide the robot manipulator through the target points. The results presented emphasize that a satisfactory trajectory tracking precision and stability could be achieved using SOM Neural networking combination with PID and Fuzzy-PD controller. The obtained average error to reach the target point when using Fuzzy-PD=2.225% and when using PID=1.965%.

Power losses and voltage drop are existing problems in radial distribution networks. This power losses and voltage drop affect the voltage stability level. Reconfiguring the network is a form of approach to improve the quality of electrical power. The network reconfiguration aims to minimize power losses and voltage drop as well as decreasing the Voltage Stability Index (VSI). In this research, network reconfiguration uses binary particle swarm optimization algorithm and Bus Injection to Branch Current-Branch Current to Bus Voltage (BIBC-BCBV) method to analyze the radial system power flow. This scheme was tested on the 33-bus IEEE radial distribution system 12.66 kV. The simulation results show that before reconfiguration, the active power loss is 202.7126 kW and the VSI is 0.20012. After reconfiguration, the active power loss and VSI decreased to 139.5697 kW and 0.14662, respectively. It has decreased the power loss for 31.3136% significantly while the VSI value is closer to zero.
