Abstract

If the Subset ARMA models fitted to real data, then the true value of the order and model parameters are often unknown. The purpose of this paper is to find an estimator-estimator for the order and parameters of the model based on the data. In this paper, the identification of order and subset ARMA model parameter estimation is done in a hierarchical Bayesian framework. Within this framework, the order and model parameters are assumed distributed priors. All order information about the characteristics and parameters of the model then expressed in the posterior distribution. Determination of the probability of the order and parameters of the posterior models requires the integration of the resulting posterior distribution, is an operation which is very difficult to do analytically. Here the algorithm Reversible Jump MCMC Simulated Annealing developed to perform the necessary integration through simulated posterior distribution.

Abstract

In this paper, it’s discussed about the construction of regular semigroup, orthodox semigroup, including inverse semigroup and band. A natural order in S for the regular semigrup is given by  with . Semigroup S is called pure if for  and , then . The purpose of this research is to determine the condition of the natural order on some regular semigrup construction and its relationship with E-unitary and pure semigrup. Pure semigroup and and E-unitary is a special condition of the natural order. There is a natural order that is not a partial order. Natural order can be defined in some semigroup construction. In a mapping, there is a purity that influence each other, and also by inverse semigrup.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the differences in mathematics learning outcomes of students who use the method of recitation by using the drill method in class XI student IPS MAN Gandekan Bantul in second Semester Academic Year 2010/2011. The populations in this study are all students class XI IPS MAN Gandekan Bantul in second Semester Academic Year 2010/2011 which consists of 3 classes. The sampling technique used random cluster sampling technique and the sample in this study was taken two classes, namely class XI IPS 2 as the experimental class and class XI IPS 1 as the control class. Data collecting technique is documentation method to determine the ability of students, the test method to determine mathematics student learning outcomes. To test the validity of test instruments used, distinguishing features and reliability. Data analysis used the t-test two parties and one party t-test. Results showed no differences between the results of learning mathematics using method of recitation and drill method in class XI student of  second Semester  MAN IPS Gandekan Bantul School Year 2010/2011, is shown from the results of the t-test with the two parties t_count (5.59139)> t_tabel (2.40155) at 53 degrees of freedom significant level of 5%. The results also showed that the use of the recitation method is more effective than the use of the drill method in improving students mathematics learning outcomes, shown in the t-test results of one party with t_count (5.59139)> t_tabel (0.16055) at 53 degrees of freedom significant level 5 %.

Abstract

In daily life, people are always having problems. The problem has many solutions or a solution only to solve it. In learning mathematics, there is open-ended problem that is also a problem that has many ways of solving. Polya (1973) argues that there are four steps in solving the problem. They are: (1) understand the problem (understanding the problem), (2) make a plan (devising a plan), (3) implementation (carrying out the plan), (4) re-examine (looking back). By seeing the results of several studies suggest that the ability level of students affect the process of solving math problems. Based on this background then, the problem that also the focus of this research was "How the profiles of the problem solving mathematical junior open class VIII student based on his mathematical abilities?."

Abstract

This paper focuses on a Grade 4 mathematics intervention that has been developed and implemented in grade four of primary school in Surabaya, Indonesia. The theory of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) has been applied in a sequence of instructional activities, which aims to assist low attaining learners in supporting students’ thinking in the addition of fractions. Based on the premise that eliciting and addressing learners’ alternative conceptions in mathematics is beneficial in assisting them to improve their understanding, the paper seeks to explore the role that RME plays pertaining to this particular supposition. The paper presents and discusses examples of learners’ responses to contextual problems given to them during the course of the instructional activities.

Abstract

Suppose X Poisson distributed with parameter ?. This journal aims to determine the confidence interval for the average Bayesian Poisson distribution with parameter ?. The research method used in this discussion is a method of literary study. Prior distributions are used to determine the posterior distribution is the distribution of Jeffrey. To facilitate the calculation of confidence intervals of the Bayesian 100 (1 - ?)% for the parameter ? used MATLAB program. The performance of the confidence interval for the average Bayesian Poisson distribution in a test using simulated data. As an example of the application was applied to stop the Trans Jogja Kusuma Negara 3.

Abstract

One of topics in quantitative research which students in Islamic Education Faculty, Walisongo State Institute of Islamic Studie handle for their theses is about implementation of inovatif teaching learning methods and then compare it with convensional methods to see the result of the implementation. For this study, students often unsure about the title because there are two opinion on it. First, the title should be “Effectivity of Inovatif Method....”, or the stitle should be “The Influence of Inovative Method....”. And both of these titles use the same statsitics test,  i.e. Independent sample t test. Statistically, this study shows that influence is more appropriate for the case because the word of “inluence” refers to t-test definition. Otherwise independent sample t test will allowed to the word “effective” if there is assumption that an inovatif method is effective only if only the means of inovatif method’s achievement is higher than convensional’s achievement. Different assumtion about effectivity will bring different statistical test.

Abstract

The problems studied in this article  is the selection of model formed from all possible subsets of independent random variables in multiple linear regression equation. The purpose of this study is to determine the multiple linear regression parameter estimation and choose the best regression equation which will be used to predict the random variables which are bound. In this Thesis, The method used is the the smallest Squares method  and Bootstrap Methods. The smallest Squares method is used to determine the regression parameter estimation which  the results of  residual resampling used to obtain regression parameter estimation using the Bootstrap method.  The Criteria of  model selection uses Statistics . The equation regression with the smallest Statistics is the best equation model. Comparison between the estimation parameter and the parameter sought by Vector Norm. To be easy in calculating of  determining parameter estimation and Statistics use Matlab  program. The performance of the proposed method is viewed by simulation method. From the simulation result and comparison between the parameter estimation and the parameters, it can indicate that the Bootstrap method can estimate the parameter accurately. As the example of application, those both methods are applied in Indonesion Bank data relating to the amount of circulating money and the factors that influence it.

Abstract

This study aims to improve Mathematics learning motivation through a contextual approach to students of MTs Ibnul Qoyyim son’s boarding school Yogyakarta. This research is an action research. Setting of this research is 22 students of class Ia. Research planning is done for three cycles and completed in the second cycle. The first cycle consists of two meetings and the second cycle consists of two meetings. The data collected by the technique of diagnostic testing, observation sheet, questionnaire, interviews and documentation. The results of diagnostic tests on each cycle increased the average of learning results, which is from 78.48 in the cycle I to 84.02 in the cycle II. The results of student learning motivation questionnaire at the beginning of the meeting 65.22% included as the middle category. After done the learning by using the contextual approach, students learning motivation on cycle I are 74.44% and 75.56% in cycle II included as the high category. Based on questionnaire responses of students are 91.96% categorized as very interested. From observations and interviews result, it can be deduced that students respond positively to learning through contextual approach. So that, it can be concluded overall that learning through contextual approach can enhance students learning motivation MTs Ibnul Qoyyim son’s boarding school Yogyakarta class Ia odd semester in academic year 2011/2012 with the subject of integers.
