Abstract

Kwangkay is one of the most recent death ceremonies of all the processes of death ritual that found in the Dayak Benuaq, East Kalimantan. This ceremony is doing by digging back the ancestral bones of the deceased and has been buried for 4 years or more. The bones are led by pengewara (traditional leader). Wara Mopoy is a vocal art form of a mantra recited by the rulers during the routine ritual of giving food to the spirits of the ancestors in every day and it is believed to be the medium to deliver the soul to the highest cosmos (Lamut Paradise). During the ritual process, there is also a musical opposition that serves as a dance accompaniment Ngerangkaw( the dance that carried bones in the back).Death becomes something that passes by certain rules and ritual levels because they believe that the nature of the paradise has different levels according to the level of ceremony performed by the living (family and relatives). This kwangkay ceremony is closely related to the origins and mythology of the Dayak tribe of Benuaq that has shaped and bound them in a Benuaq customary and customary order. Implementation was through a variety of requirements, stages, and complicated process to take 21 days. Keywords: kwangkay, wara mopoy, kelentangan.

Abstract

The charismatic movement is an embryo of  the birth of  charismatic church in the world. The movement was began before the World War where the situation was marked by the economical decadence, particularly in the United States of America that caused uneasiness in several live of young community. The church model based on the power of Holly Spirit in the comprehension of Christian traditional faith. It is differenced from another church that grows in Europe.  The church has been developing and finally, it is taking root on Western culture tradition, and then it appeared gospel music tradition. Unfortunately the members of this religious community are disposed another musical tradition that lives around them whereas they are something important to the success of progress of cultural dialog, so the charismatic chruch seem exclusive.  By mean of historical studies, the writer try to critise on the prospect dialog between charismatic church and local tradition. The dialog will open the posibility of cultural spirit to furnish, support, and appreciate one to another. Keywords: charismatic, local music tradition, dialog, religious.

Abstract

Composition called nyanggem or in terms of another nyarios in language Sunda which means talk is a form of music resulting from logat, using a way that is at jangka and wirahma, then logat the conversation someone will be able as melody.Composition is expected to to be an early stage to make logat as one of objects could become work better. But based on logat in west java, composition it also took the story the author personal about mom have a struggle to become the backbone of family.

Abstract

Values are meanings, messages either implicitly-exemplified in the form of ideas or theories that work in community activities, one of the material objects that describe the phenomenon is a traditional musical instrument. Speaking of traditional musical instruments, there is one that is valuable, namely Polopalo. Polopalo is a percussion instrument, a Gorontalo icon with a unique organology that is similar to a crocodile's mouth and produces a distinctive acoustic sound character. The unique and interesting aspect of Polopalo's acoustic organology makes its value function continue to experience development and transformation in the activities of society and the world of science.Nattiez about the meaning process at three levels: decomposition of acoustic components, historical or cultural background and physio-acoustic response and supported by the Alperson-Bordieu theory so that the research method uses quantitative-qualitative.The results showed that the value of Polopalo's acoustic organology is the embodiment of the character and philosophy of the Gorontalo people in everyday life where the existence of the sign is represented by the unique sound frequency and interval

Abstract

This writing is in the background of the phenomenon of existing phenomena of some composers making works of musical composition. Dominate the idea of story-based musical creation (ektramusikal) in the academic environment, resulting in an imbalance of explanations of the work. The purpose of the author is to create a concept of formation of hybrid tone, to participate as part of a musical discussion such as conceptualization before the embodiment of the work. Then to know that the many background ideas of the creation problem from the intramusical aspect of the creation dominance of the extramusical element. Combining elements of music from two different types of classification ladder. The process of making these hybrid tones is the result of developing the concept of a pre-existing hybrid scale, beginning with an experiment of tone interval combinations. Hybridity-related because it uses two elements of music combined, to underlie the exposure of concepts such as systematic flow of two elements of music mixed from two musical cultures. So with this intention as a trigger for writers and composers who want to do concept development also strengthen the intramusikal argument in the creation that is done, thus enriching the discourse in the field of musical composition. Keywords: Scale, Hybrid, Creative Idea

Abstract

Gambang Semarang is one of the original art Gambang Semarang are adopting Kromong Betawi arts. Gambang Semarang was born in 1930 on the initiative of Lie Soen Hoo who is a member Volkstraad (House of Representatives during the reign of the Netherlands). At present Gambang Semarang has created a form that has a factor in creativity. Creativity is an aspect of human qualities which currently play an important role in supporting the development of the nation Indonesian who are experiencing problems are complex, because creativity will have the ability, the creative adaptation and expertise imaginative, so that people will be able to find a resolution problems in a new way in follow the changes that occur that will continue to move towards progress for not float and sink in competition between nations and countries, especially in this era of globalization.               Gambang Semarang Art Company is a community of young people who are active in preserving the arts Gambang Semarang with attractive feature, which will follow the tastes of the market in contemporary times, a rendition of the popular and also add some western instruments in the ensemble. Their communities Gambang Semarang Art Company is very important to introduce art Gambang Semarang are increasingly recognized by the people of Semarang.               Research Gambang Semarang Art Company uses the description of the analysis method with the approach of ethnomusicology. Abstract

Raego is traditional song in Kulawi etnis, Central Sulawesi. Reago song is used at traditional wedding maradika people. This study using kualitatif method with ethnomusicologists approach. Raego song at wedding's maradika people have distinct function, there are primer and secundary. All of those functions address to support society and society which have its culture. Raego song have their own way to show. Start from the way they perfom their song which dont have direct connection with the song and how they perform it. Keyword : music, function, raego song.

Abstract

This study discusses the function and meaning of lyric singing in the ceremony of sarimatua death in Batak Toba society in Samosir. In general, there are problems identified in this study. The main problem is hata andung is rarely used by the Toba Batak community. Batak Toba community more often use the Batak Toba language because not many people Toba Batak who understand about the meaning of andung the truth. For that language andung should be used with hata andung no longer used, so it does not have the value of the tradition attached to the Batak Toba community in Samosir. study conducted during the period of four months, from the beginning of February 2017 to May 2017.To discuss the problem then used the theory of Abdul Chaer in assessing the function and meaning, cultural values contained in andung sarimatua Ompu Juan Boru. The results of this study resulted in some conclusions such as singing andung lacks existence in the Batak community because, the speakers at the ceremony andung Toba batak community dead at the present time is very difficult to find. This andung tradition is considered no longer suitable for today. Some of the factors that result in shifts and changes in the current andung sarimatua traditions are religion, language, and the use of musical instruments.The function of the andung tradition at present in the Toba Batak community death ceremony include: the function of expression of sadness and the closeness of relationships and respect for the deceased family. The meaning contained in andung sarimatua reveals all the feelings and tells the contents of his heart to his deceased mother, tells many things, the longing of sipangandung to uncle and grandfather who have long died also participated expressed and send greetings to them, and expect her mother still can protect his descendants. Cultural values contained in the tradition andung in the ceremony of death sarimatua Batak Toba community today is the value of hasangapon, hagabeon, and hamoraon.

Abstract

Odrot music is the art of music featured in Ponorogo, existing end centuries of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia, but its development was started in 1958. From then on stand several music groups Odrot, but that survive today are a group of music Odrot Kelana Ria. Although there are other groups who also manages Music Odrot, but the players invited players in Kelana group Ria. Music Odrot is a musical ensemble consisting of instruments trumpet, Euphonium 1, Euphonium 2, flugel, sousaphone (which by the player music Odrot called a piston, tenor 1, tenor 2, kaltu, bass), drums, kendang ciblon, ketipung dangdut, jidor and cer, keyboard and electric bass.Odrot Music initially brought the songs of preaching Islamic nuance. Furthermore, Odrot music was developed in accordance with the times so that the songs were not limited to propaganda songs where tailored to the needs of supporters. This study aimed to describe a way of presenting Odrot music and explain its function in society in detail. Odrot Music ensemble distinguished by traditional and modern terms: so-called traditional because of the instruments used is a piston, tenor 1, tenor 2, kaltu, bass, drums, kendang ciblon, ketipung dangdut, jidor and cer; called modern because coupled with keyboard instruments and electric bass. If the ensemble Odrot Music brings the songs styles (langgam), the instruments which are used namely kendang ciblon, while dangdut songs accompanied by ketipung dangdut.There is a basic song which (if not in special circumstances) is always played the name of that song is Ponoragan Kebo Giro. In addition, this song further characterize Odrot. Ponoragan songs Kebo Giro consists of 8 (eight) bars are played repeatedly in accordance with the cue trumpet. The song is sung to the rhythm of the Odrot's mars and traditional. Therefore, the ordot main function is as an entertainment in addition to other functions as an aesthetic presentation, the physical response, local cultural identity, informal educational facilities, media propaganda, cultural continuity, communication, and community integration.

Abstract

Jatung Debang is a traditional musical instrument of Dayak Kenyah tribe in Kalimantan archipelago. Made of elliptical wood and included in the category of Xylophone instrument. How to play Jatung debt is quite simple: hit with 2 separate logs for each slab of wood, each slab of wood tied to a rope that is mounted on a wooden block that is structured and will issue a key different tone. Jatung Debt itself is usually used as a ritual and dance accompanist Dayak Kenyah tribe.This study aims to determine the structure of the music jatung Debt as accompaniment Hudoq Community Dayak Kenyah tribe in the village of River Payang District of Loa Kulu Kutai regency and to determine the function of music jatung Debt accompaniment Hudoq Community Dayak Kenyah tribe in the village of River Payang District of Loa Kulu Regency of Kutai Kartanegara, using qualitative method. Music jatung debt as a dance accompanist hudog in lamin lung anai payang river village used to an expression of gratitude to the creator which is held after every harvest and to start growing rice again.
