Abstract

A costless vaccination program had been implemented in Badung Regency, but there were parents of elementary schoolgirls who did not give written consents to their daughters for joining the program. The research intended to determine the factors of HPV vaccination program acceptability comprised of age, education level, knowledge, perception, and doctor recommendation. The research design was quantitative-based cross-sectional from January – May 2020. The population study was elementary schoolgirls’ parents in Badung Regency. The respondents were 92 parents who were selected based on two strata and using simple random sampling. The source of primary data was collected through interviews and online questionnaires. It was analyzed with descriptive and analytical techniques with a logistic regression test. The result showed that 64,13% of respondents accepted the HPV vaccination program. The multivariate analysis showed that the perceived barrier was the most influential factor towards the acceptability of the HPV vaccination program (AOR = 6,056; 95%CI 1,754-20,906). Education would be needed to decrease the barriers to the HPV vaccination program.

Abstract

Indonesian government, through BKKBN, has joined to promote healthy life in the elderly in the community. Bina Keluarga Lansia (BKL) programme was established to fulfil elderly need through a family-based approach. This study is aimed to evaluate the programme with the examination of the quality of life of its members, including the elderly and their family member. We used a cross-sectional method using WHO-QOL BREF questionnaire to assess the quality of life and another questionnaire to enlist the involvement on the BKL activities. This study was conducted in 2018, at four BKL groups across Sleman Regency. Further analysis was conducted with gaussian mix models to adjust for the cluster effect from sampling method. Our 103 respondents with 68 family members and 35 elderly generally have a good quality of life on four dimensions of WHO-QOL BREF. We found that BKL activities statistically significant associated with better QoL, especially in Social Domain and Psychological Domain. Activities that were specifically associated with better QoL was health education on elderly resilience and art/music activities. Other activities that show borderline association was business activities. BKL programme has shown an association with better QoL, thus any successful activities should be maintained or improved, and other less influential activities should be reviewed and customised with local needs.

Abstract

Poultry dust exposure may increase workers’ health risks, particularly in the form of respiratory allergic reactions. This study aimed to identify mold content of the dust and to analyze the association between dust exposure, IgE level, history of allergy, and symptoms of allergy. This study used cross sectional design with total samples of 33 workers. The data were analyzed using chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. This study found 93.33% growth of Aspergillus sp., 69.7% work duration 3 years, 84.8% high IgE levels, 18.2% history of allergy, and 69.7% symptoms of allergy. Dust exposure and history of allergy did not show significant correlation with symptoms of allergy while IgE levels had significant correlation with p-value of 0.036. Workers with high IgE-level were 15.986 times more likely to have symptoms of allergy (p-value 0.028). Aspergillus sp. as dust allergen potentially increased IgE levels and might become the base for facilitation of early and independent preventive and promotive efforts of workers’ health.

Abstract

Fatigue is a normal phenomenon that can be reduced by rest and sleep. The aims of this study was to uncover the relationship between lecturers’ sleep duration and their job burnout. This research was conducted at 2013. Abstract

Anemia is still a public health problem in the world and in Indonesia. WHO (2008) reported more than 75% of anemia in Asia is iron deficiency and 63.5% anemia in Indonesia is caused by lack of nutrition. Previous studies described that lead (Plumbum /Pb) can decrease hemoglobin levels. Sriwedari markets’ book sellers and Solo Wholesale Center’s street vendors are susceptible populations exposed to Pb as a result of motor vehicle exhaust. Approximately 70% of Pb in vehicle exhausts emissions are emitted into the air. This study aimed to analyze the effects of Pb exposure on blood Pb concentration and hemoglobin levels. This study was a quantitative observational analytic study with cross sectional design conducted in 2015-2016 at Sriwedari Market. Samples were 97 respondents obtained through random sampling and Spearman correlation was used for data analysis. Result showed that there were association between Pb exposure in the air and blood Pb levels (p=0,000; r=0,606) and blood Pb levels and hemoglobin levels (p=0,000; r=-0,623)
