Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine whether learning models prompting probing-based active learning can improve students' achievement of the competence of the hydrocarbon material in class X at MAN Magelang 1 academic year 2013/2014. The design used in this study is the one-group pretest-posttest design. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling technique. Collecting data in this research is using the method of documentation, testing, and observation. Tests were used to analyze the data is the data completeness test learning outcomes and test learning outcome. Test mastery learning outcomes data demonstrate the value of t-test 3.994 while the critical t of 2.03 which means that the results of the experimental study class after treatment greater than 75 or have attained mastery learning. Test results of study showed an increase in the value of t count 36.6783 while the t-critical of 2.03 which means that there is an increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class after being given treatment. Based on the results of research it can be concluded that probing-prompting learning model based active learning can improve students' achievement of the competence of the hydrocarbon material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the reduce of student misconception by applying collaborative learning strategy type of Predict, Discuss, Explain, Observe, Discuss, Explain (PDEODE) in discourse solubility equilibrium in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. Instrument that used is three tier multiple choice test by using Certainty of Response Index (CRI). The study was an experiment with randomized control group pretest-posttest. The sample in this research is class XI MIA 9 as experiment class and class X1 MIA 7 as control class which is determined randomly after normality test and a homogeneity test. The experimental class is treated with the application of collaborative learning strategy type of Predict, Discuss, Explain, Observe, Discuss, Explain (PDEODE), while the control class without the application of collaborative learning strategy type of Predict, Discuss, Explain, Observe, Discuss, Explain (PDEODE). Data analysis for hypothesis testing is done using right-t test. Based on the results of data analysis obtained tct = 3,13 and ttable = 1,67 with α = 0,05, dk = 56. tcount ttable is 3,13 1,67 means the application of collaborative learning strategy type of Predict, Discuss, Explain, Observe, Discuss, Explain (PDEODE) can improve student achievement on hydrocarbon subject in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. The percentage reduction of misconception in the experimental class is 52,42%.

Abstract

In this 21st century, the world is undergoing rapid changes. This change concerns all aspects of life, namely the fields of economics, transportation, technology, communication, information, and others. This change needs to be anticipated by mastering the 21st century skills. The 21st century skills include critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication, and collaboration. The development of the 21st century skills can be carried out in all disciplines. Chemistry as one of the science disciplines is very appropriate to develop the 21st century skills. The development of the 21st century skills must be done intentionally by chemistry teachers in order to achieve the learning objectives effectively and efficiently. To develop the 21st century skills in chemistry learning, the teachers can choose learning models with scientific approaches, such as discovery learning model, problem-based learning model, project-based learning model, or design-based learning. The application of the learning model must be carried out optimally in accordance with the nature of the scientific approach so that students can develop the 21st century skills. In addition, the apllication of blended learning and an assessment of the 21st century skills is also important.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the effect of Team Games Tournament teaching model using Tournament-Question Cards, toward the learning outcomes of a Senior High School (SHS) in Semarang on hydrocarbon and crude oil subjects. The initial observation result showed that their learning outcomes was still low as 55,78%. The population was X grader of a SHS in Semarang for the academic years 2011/2012. The sample was X-3 grader students as the control and X-4 grader as the experimental, which were selected using cluster random sampling method. Team Games Tournament teaching model using Tournament-Question Cards were applied in the  experimental class, while the conventional teaching model were used in the control class. Based on the facts, the average of post test result from the experiment class was 83,96 and the control class was 75,56. The experiment class and the control class post test grades were distributed normally and had the same variants, whereas on the one-sample t-test result was t count (3,61)  t table (2,02)  which mean the average grade of experiment was better than the control class. Hypothesis testing used were biserial correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination obtained rb =0,618 and the influence 38,15%. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between Team Games Tournament teaching model using Tournament-Question Cards toward the learning outcomes of X grader of SHS in Semarang on hydrocarbon and crude oil subjects, with influence 38,15%.Key Words: Tournament-Question Cards media
