Abstract

This study aims to examine the values contained in Siger as a symbol of the people of Lampung Province and the effectiveness of these values in the concept of religious moderation. This research method is descriptive qualitative with the type of literature review. The analysis of this study uses Pierce's semiotic analysis and the concept of Quraish Shihab's moderation. The results of the research as a whole, Siger has the values contained in it in the form of the philosophy of the Lampung people or Piil Pesenggiri which is supported by 4 solid pillars including Juluk Beadek, Nemui Nyimah, Nengah Nyappur and Sakai Sambaian. This Lampung people's philosophy of life also refers to the Quraish Shihab's concept of Religious Moderation by presenting several pillars including Tawazun (Balance), Is (Justice), Tasamuh (Tolerance), Tawassuth (middle attitude) and Shura (deliberation). So, in religious moderation, it can be said that the visualization of Siger is a complete “package” that will enrich social life and also serve as a unifying tool for the plurality of Lampung society.

Abstract

The content of Surah al-Nisāʼ in the Qur'an is full of messages regarding the importance of empowering women. However, many Muslim communities still underestimate and marginalize women, rendering them less empowered. This research describes women's empowerment in Islam and moderate interpretations of Qur'anic verses related to women. It analyzes the verses about women empowerment in Surah al-Nisāʼof the Quran, referring to several fair interpretations and linking them to field phenomena. The results show that the Qur'an is a holy book that supports women's empowerment, an aspect perceived to have social, economic, health, spiritual, and legal dimensions in Surah al-Nisāʼ. It is urgent to empower women to live worthy and equal to men. This research is expected to help understand the verses on moderate women’s empowerment equally and justly as men in building a civilization on earth.

Abstract

This research discusses the dialectics of Islam and culture in the syara mangato adat mamakai tradition in forming the social structure of the Rencong Telang community in Kerinci Jambi. The existence of the culture of Rencong Telang Indigenous People is increasingly disappearing with the arrival of the Synchretic Islamic and Puritan Islamic civilizations. This research employed qualitative research with a phenomenological approach and multiple cases. Data was collected through documentary research, secondary data collection, participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The results of the research find that the tradition of syara mangato adat mamakai shows the dialectics of Islam and culture in forming the social structure of the Rencong Telang indigenous community. In this case, Islam is one of the sources of applicable norms and customary law. The social life of the Rencong Telang community is regulated through traditional institutions which are manifested in the formulation of four customs and four laws. The four customs contain traditional principles. Meanwhile, Law Four is in the form of technical and applied regulations.
