Abstract

As built environment, development in Kemiren Village as traditional tourism village, community feels benefits. Those developments dynamically encourage changes, especially in characteristics and environmental quality, this cause of community space growth and some areas function. There is control to maintain characteristics of threat to change It is necessary to conduct study to identify settlement characteristics from cultural significance and environmental quality influence, which results can be utilize to make more appropriate directtion for traditional settlements preservation in Kemiren Village, which makes potential characteristics and environment feasibility as purpose to preserving community areas.Research conducted with rationalistic-qualitative, descriptive and exploratory methods, data collection techniques by field observations, interviews and documentation. Furthermore, data obtained will be map into tables, including mapping environmental conditions, characteristics, cultural meanings, and environmental quality.Based on evaluation analysis, settlements cultural significance reaches an average of 60%, with aesthetic, scarcity, and exceptional variables being elements that have high value of unique characteristics, caused by presence factor of Kemiren House, which has historical value and has potential to become cultural heritage building. Then the value of environmental quality, which is below an average of 50%, poses threat to physical formations, which can visually reduce aesthetic value and unusual environment of settlement.

Abstract

The Republic of Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world. In this country the development of shari’a housing is rapidly increasing, this is due to the demand of the shari’a housing market. To meet the needs of consumers having a house with an ideal Islamic residential concept, some criteria can be applied in developing shari'a housing. Many developers have raised the concept of Islamic housing as a branding of developed housing products, but many housings with that concept have not met all the ideal criteria of the concept of Islamic housing. The ideal Islamic residential concept must meet the ideal criteria including there are two entrances, the separation between the service room and the main room, the separation between the family room and living room for the privacy of the occupants, there are parks and open spaces on the residential lots, there are Islamic-style ornaments or plants, there are shading devices, there are ornaments on the main entrance which are the focal points of the entrance design, natural light and ventilation must be able to reach the entire space, carry the concept of climate response, and meet all applicable housing standards. Based on the evaluation results according to investors and in-depth analysis qualitatively and quantitatively about the application of the concept of Islamic housing in the sharia housing case study shows that in the case of Medina Residence 1 it is sufficiently representative to show the application of the ideal Islamic residential concept criteria. Medina Residence 1 received an evaluation response with an average mean score of 5.381on a scale of 6 or it can be said that 89.68% of the criteria for the concept of Islamic housing have been applied well.

Abstract

Government policy in moving economic activities to spaces outside of settlements results in changes in the territory of the space used. This requires further regulation of territorial mechanisms that occur in research studies. The purpose of this research is to identify the characteristics of outer space territories and determine the mechanism of these outer territories. The strategy in this study used a qualitative strategy with observational research techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Miles Huberman model analysis used in this research. The results obtained are 1) secondary territorial use of outer space by involving local and external users, 2) secondary mechanisms are used with limited time and activity control, cooperative ownership, and access to places that are open to outdoor users.

Abstract

Surabaya as one of the cities in Indonesia that is developing towards a smart city. One of the supporting parts in sustainable urban development is settlement, both formal and informal. Kampung Hijau Keputih Tegal Timur, is used as the object of a case study to discuss the sustainable development of residential cities in Surabaya. This kampung was chosen because it has implemented several aspects of sustainability. This research was conducted to identify and assess the condition of Kampung Hijau Keputih Tegal Timur based on the sustainable development goals (SDG), and environmental & urban settlement concerns which are used as indicator. The results showed that Kampung Hijau Keputih Tegal Timur has fulfilled almost all aspects of the indicators of sustainable development goals and environmental concern & urban settlements. However, there are some unfulfilled indicators between "no poverty" and "life on land". So that a follow-up is needed to Kampung Hijau Keputih Tegal Timur in order to create a green kampung.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is to understand the current condition of Density, population, and growth concentration in the city of Palembang. As one of the oldest cities in Indonesia, Palembang has been one of the twelve fastest growing cities in Indonesia, with more than one point six million people in 2018. According to the 2018 United Nations booklet (Nations, 2018) the Indonesian cities will grow with the annual rate of 2.4% to 6%, and undoubtedly this growth will impact the city’s urban fabric. This paper uses the Landsat images, and OpenStreetMap (OSM) data sets combined from the 2018 Population statistics in Palembang by overlaying the data to examine the statistical growth and urban density in the city of Palembang. The maps will also use the space syntax method and natural street analysis to determine the human behavior and traffic movement pattern and how the current urban layout should be examined. This street network's potential will serve as a narrative for further development to the city of Palembang. Keywords: density, population growth, natural street, space syntax, Palembang.

Abstract

As the awareness of climate change increased, more sustainable designs are available for not only domestic building but also non domestic building. Focusing on integration with the environmental condition of the site, Senedd (The National Assembly of Wales) is designed to embrace nurture the potential of its site. The utilisation of environmental approach on management, energy, water, materials, pollution, health and wellbeing, waste and innovation leads to an excellent BREEAM rating for the building. This paper aims to study the integration of each environmental consideration utilised in the building. The investigation illustrates how the building perform in three aspects: daylight, natural ventilation and thermal comfort. The study represents that a balance of environmental design approach is demonstrated in the building to achieve its best performance by maximising passive strategies instead of active system.
