Abstract

A system consists of input, process, and output. User interface is a place for users to interact in the system where one of the functions is as input facility of the system. One of the input tools is keyboard. With the development of touchscreen, then virtual keyboard is required. A good interface must be able to be used easily especially for novice users. The usability testing is required to know the usability level of the interface. A good usability has characteristics of effective to use (effectiveness), efficient to use (efficiency), safe to use (safety), having good utility (utility), easy to learn (learnability) and easy to remember how to use (memorability). Usability testing is an evaluation approach involving users. With usability testing, it is expected that it can give positive inputs in designing an interface especially virtual keyboard interface mainly with the characteristics of easy to learn (learnability), and easy to remember how to use (memorability) so that the resulted design can have good usability level

Abstract

Along with the development of information technology in recent era, a number of new applications emerge, especially on mobile phones. The use of mobile phones, besides as communication media, is also as media of learning, such as translator application. Translator application can be a tool to learn a language, such as English to Bahasa Indonesia translator application. The purpose of this research is to allow user to be able to translate English to Bahasa Indonesia on mobile phone easily. Translator application on this research was developed using Java programming language (especially J2ME) because of its advantage that can run on various operating systems and its open source that can be easily developed and distributed. In this research, data collection was done through literature study, observation, and browsing similar application. Development of the system used object-oriented analysis and design that can be described by using case diagrams, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams. The translation process used rule-based method. Result of this research is the application of Java-based translator which can translate English sentence into Indonesian sentence. The application can be accessed using a mobile phone with Internet connection. The application has spelling check feature that is able to check the wrong word and provide alternative word that approaches the word input. Conclusion of this research is the application can translate sentence in daily conversation quite well with the sentence structure corresponds and is close to its original meaning.

Abstract

Online learning is a learning method that doesn’t close any possibility can be run with collaboration between learning asynchronous and synchronous model. This research is to find out whether lecturer’s professionalism and student’s interest and study motivation give significant effect to academic achievement of bachelor degree online learning in BINUS university either concurrent or partial. Sampling technique that is used is random sampling, and used sample is about 99 samples of active student. Hypothesis testing that is done using one lane analysis model, where analysis is done using regression analysis test and corelation analysis test either concurrent or partial. The result of this research can be concluded that there is significant effect between lecturer’s professionalism, student’s interest and motivation with student’s academic achievement either partial or concurrent. This research result is hoped to be able to give benefit to BINUS University, so it can be suggestion in developing teaching and learning system in BINUS online learning by paying attention to external and internal factors that affect and increase student’s academic achievement.

Abstract

The main goal of this research is to analyze and design a database configuration of migration and replication in PT Metro Batavia. Research methodologies used in this research are data collecting, analysis and design model. Data collecting method is conducted with library research and direct survey in the company. Analysis method is conducted by analyzing hangar system, migration and reflection process and the available problems. Design method is conducted by designing a prototype for migration process with the implementation of Oracle SQL Developer and replication process with implementation of Oracle Golden Gate. The result of this research is a prototype for configuration of migration and replication process by using Oracle Golden Gate, which can produce two sets of identical data for the purpose of backup and recovery, and also design a simple tool that is expected to help active-active or active-passive replication process. The conclusion of this research is migration process of MySQL database to Oracle database by using Oracle Golden Gate hasn’t been conducted, because Oracle Golden Gate still has bug related to binary log, so database of migration is conducted by using Oracle Golden Gate. However, replication of bi-directional in between database of Oracle by using Oracle SQL Developer can guarantee data availability and reduce work burden from primary database.

Abstract

Customer Relationship Management System (CRMS) Development in order to improve service quality in PT. AJ. Manulife Indonesia is done by comprehending the performance model of the company and the factors that are affecting the company performance improvement and the quality of the decision to be taken by top management. System Dynamic is a method that can be used to stimulate complex systems. System Dynamics approach is expected to build a model of corporate performance that can be used to evaluate the quality of service to customers so that they can make decisions quickly and accurately. This study proves that the model is built with standard models used as changing targets and it can simulate a target quality of service to customers by delivering current and future achievement. Achievement in the future is influenced by the value of achievement of SLA, Response Time, and Defect, where the greater value of control, the greater value of the correction rate so that the GAP will be smaller. Correction rate which is determined in this study was 10%, 20%, and 30% of GAP (CB)

Abstract

This article discusses a method within the area of brain-computer interface. The proposed method is to use the features extracted from the Electroencephalograph signal and a three hidden-layer artificial neural network to map the brain signal features to the computer cursor movement. The evaluated features are the root mean square and the average power spectrum. The empirical evaluation using 200 records taken from 2003 BCI Competition dataset shows that the current approach can accurately classify a simple cursor movement within 92.5% accuracy in a short computation time.
