Abstract

Game Pokémon is a RPG game which has advantages in terms of postmodern culture meanings and symbols available in each element of the characters; morever, the gameplay is built ininside the Pokémon game series. These postmodern culture meanings stem from childhood experiences, traditions and simplification of information and knowledge about the nature of the phenomenon that becomes the initial concept of designing Pokémon game characters. The effort of Pokémon game and animation is to lift up and introduce the culture and characteristics of a system of social values in Japan: the culture of respect for parents or elders, the culture of shame and apology at every mistake, cultural groups, cultural hierarchy of seniority (nenkoujoretsu), optimism, selfreliance, obligation to bear any responsibilities, and so on, are not obviously or semiotically displayed.Keywords: meanings, symbols, game, characters, semiotic, popular culture

Abstract

In the era of globalization, traditional or local foods are regarded as ”second hand products” by our society. The existence of regional foods is not appreciated. Even in culinary business, they are not considered significant at all. In this case, the advertisement (ad) jargons promoting regional foods are not creative, boring, and outdated; consequently, their existence is ignored. Progressive ad jargons play an important role as a creative industry to support local products. In the omnipresent of foreign products, jargons as on of the tools can be used to improve the popularity and image of localproducts. This research will discuss creative, unique, and marketable jargons; for instance, chocolates products in Garut have the following brands: Cokelat Antigalau (Anti-stress Chocolate), Cokelat Enteng Jodoh (Easy-to-get-soulmate Chocolate), Cokelat Cegah Alay (Foolish-avoidance Chocolate),Cokelat High Quality Jomblo (Unmarried High Quality Chocolate), Cokelat Antikorupsi (Anticorruption Chocolate), and so on, and all of which have positive images. It is high time that Indonesian regional foods made use of ad jargons for local cuisines. Regional foods represented by ad jargons as creative industry are supposed to show their existence in the market. Local consumers must also have the confidence that our regional foods also have high quality, competetiveness, and poistive images compared to foreign food products. Therefore, both local producers and ad designers must work hand in hand to enhance the product positive images while creating consumers’ interests to buy.Keywords: ad jargons, language strength, creative industry, local products, positive images

Abstract

Dental caries is a dental and oral health problem that is dominant in our country regardless of age, race, or the state of the economy. Therefore, we need to have a preventive measure to reduce the caries index that aims to enhance the standard of living by extending the usefulness of the teeth in the mouth.One of the actions to prevent the formation of dental caries is consuming yoghurt that contains probiotics and has the ability to improve the overall body health and oral health, such as dental caries, periodontitis, and halitosis.Probiotics can prevent and reduce the occurance of dental caries that works directly on the Streptococcus mutans as cariogenic bacteria to prevent its growth through several mechanisms that produce antimicrobial substances, bound in the oral cavity, immunomodulatory, and modify the conditions of the oral cavity. With a preventive action against dental caries,it is expected that in the future the classical problems of oral health such as dental caries is just a history.Keywords: dental caries, preventif, yoghurt

Abstract

Most of the student identification cards (KTM) are not used optimally, and many of them are only used for identification. In fact, KTM is a smart card which has several advantages over barcode card. A smart card has a unique id number that cannot be duplicated since the process of identification makes use of radio frequency. In addition, the smart card has EEPROM, which can perform the function of storing data. In this research, it is realized in the form of simulations and prototype system of E-KTM, which use smart card-based database applications that will be applied to the library, food court, parking access, and room access. Based on the test results, the E-KTM multifunction systems have been successfully realized in the form of simulations and prototypes for both software and hardware.Keywords : smart cards, systems, databases, E-KTM

Abstract

Singing can be done either individually or together in a choir. However, they ways to sing individually and in a choir are not the same. In a choir, singers are divided into four groups, nemely sopran, alto, tenor, and bass. Sopran singers are females, and they are expected to be able to reachC” note. There are several physical movements that can be used to make singers reach notes above A’. This research intends to find out which movements can help the singers to be able to reach high notes without feeling tired. Five movements were used for this purpose. The heart beats of sopran singers are measured while singing C-C” notes, accompanied by the piano and used five movements alternately. The energy consumption and the highest note to reach when using the movements will be analyzed. The energy consumption of each movement was calculated by referring to to the heart beatsand the ranks by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). This research will conclude that there are efficient movements to use for singing several songs, and reaching the highest note.Keywords: choir, sopran singers, energy consumption, ergonomy

Abstract

This study aims to get an overview of The Degree of Altruism of psychology students in University “X” Bandung. This study uses descriptive design and stratified sampling technique. Aquestionnaire is made and administered to a total of 325 psychology students. The measuring instrument used in this study is constructed by the researcher, based on Altruism theory by Smith (2011). Validity is measured by using Construct Validity technique with Spearman formula, while reliability is tested by using Split Half technique. Validity calculation discovers 43 valid items with validity coefficient ranging from 0.340 to 0.692. Reliability is measured and it is discovered that the coefficient reliability is 0.957, which means that the measuring instrument is reliable.The data are calculated by using frequency distribution method and it is concluded that a total of 55.4% psychology students has a low degree of altruism, and a total of 44.6% psychology students has a high degree of altruism. Based on its aspects, psychology students whose degree in altruism is low, have a high degree of concern,a high degree of empathy, but a low degree of cost, a low degree of benefit to recipient, and a low degree of ease of escape. Psychology students whose degree in altruism is highalso have a high degree of concern, cost, benefit to recipient, empathy, and ease of escape. For further study, it is suggested conducting a research regarding the correlation betweenaltruism and the factors that influence it, particularly the type of parenting that psychology students experience.Keywords: altruism, psychology students, concern, cost, benefit to recipent, ease of escape.

Abstract

In Genaral, financial statements are made to record and report all financial data. The financial statements are useful in providing information that can be used by various stakeholders to ensure their interests or needs. Although the financial statements have been proven to deliver tangible benefits, it is still not as much as it should be. In Indonesia, the use of financial statements as resources is limited. Many businesses in Indonesia base their decisions on a variety of other aspectsthat are not well targeted to the root causes of the business. In addition, many investors are unable to understand and utilize the financial statements as a way to ensure the investment success. This article uses a qualitative method to illustrate the benefits of a financial statement analysis and the fact of itsuse in Indonesia. Additionally, it will discuss personal financial statement and analysis and its benefits for individuals. The financial analysis that is easy to understand would be a valuable source of information that can be one of the appropriate bases for decision making and accuracy.Keywords: Financial Statements, Financial Management, Accounting

Abstract

Migrasi diaspora Tiong Hoa memiliki sejarah yang panjang. Dalam upaya bertahan hidup, orang-orang Tiong Hoa beradaptasi dengan situasi lokal sebagai suatu proses pembauran budaya. Penelitian ini bermaksud menemukan bukti pembauran budaya dari artifak yang ditemukan di wihara-wihara Tiong Hoa. Proses penelitian ini dimulai dari melakukan survei lapangan yang ekstensif,penjelasan simbol-simbol tersebut dengan mengacu pada latar belakang antropologis kultus Tiong Hoa, sampai kepada Interpretasi simbol-simbol lokal yang telah diadopsi, yaitu berupa patung-patung pribumi, dan patung-patung diaspora Tiong Hoa lokal.Kata kunci: akulturisasi, wihara-wihara Tiong Hoa, kultus, dewa dewi, Indonesia

Abstract

Merupakan suatu hal yang tidak dapat dimungkiri bahwa Budaya Korea sudah menyebar luas di Asia, bahkan di dunia. Masyarakat Indonesia sangat tertarik dan berminat kepada studi tentang Korea. Hal ini menandakan bahwa kebudayaan Korea telah memberikan pengaruh penting dalam kehidupan bangsa Indonesia dan khususnya memberikan pengaruh pada perilaku, gaya hidup, dan pendidikan masyarakat Indonesia. Dari studi Korea, dapat diketahui keunikan, kekhasan,keberagaman, etos kerja, perilaku, dan kekayaan budaya Korea yang dapat dipelajari dan boleh jadi dipraktikkan oleh masyarakat Indonesia dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas kehidupan dan untuk menjadi SDM siap pakai di perusahaan atau industri Korea di Indonesia. Berkaitan dengan haltersebut, dalam makalah ini akan dibahas tentang tingkat keberminatan terhadap studi Korea pada pelajar dan mahasiswa di Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data mempergunakan teknik kuesioner, wawancara, dan observasi. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan dasar untuk membuka program studi ilmu pengetahuan dan budaya Korea di satuan pendidikan tinggi sebagai jawaban terhadap peluang untuk menyediakan SDM yang mengenal budaya Korea.Kata kunci: budaya Korea, studi Korea, keberminatan pelajar dan mahasiswa
