Abstract

The use of smart cards and supporting devices to support the reform of urban public transportation does not stop at the ticket machine alone, as it has been successfully developed for the bus transit system Trans Jogja. The development is also aimed for the use of Prambanan Express train and Trans Batik Solo bus services, resulting in the integration of the three modes using a single smart card ticket. The smart card system needs to be improved so that the Student Identity Card of Gadjah Mada University is accepted and can be used as a smart card for the bus and train services. For short-term period, this study aimed to estimate the number of students who will use the Student Identity Card to buy Trans Jogja bus tickets, while for long-term period the results of this study can be used to provide direction for the development of Trans Jogja bus routes in the future. Survey was conducted through interviews with 500 students of Gadjah Mada University. The results indicate that there is a significant number of students who will use the bus service of Trans Jogja system, amounting to 890 people. For long-term period, the results suggest that the bus route development, based on the potential demand, should reach the north area of the Gadjah Mada University campus. Keywords: smart cards, urban public transport, bus tickets

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of re-routing bus lane corridor on some performance indicators. The Tangerang Bus Lane is taken as a case study. The discussion is focused on comparison of service planning performance indicators such ridership, passenger-km, and bus-km. A primary survey on bus operational characteristics and user attitude is conducted. Prior to the analysis, some basic formula is derivedand modified and, then, performance indicators for both route option are estimated. The analysis is conducted by comparing the estimated indicators. The result shows that the alternative route gives better performance and yields to a need of re-evaluating the originally proposed route. Keywords: Bus lane, performance indicator, ridership, service productivity

Abstract

In ASEAN, Indonesia has largest area and population, longest road infrastructure, and largest number of motor vehicles, but road victims’ fatality is low. This indicates under-reporting. Existing model of road victims’ fatality is Andreassen models which use population numbers and motor vehicles numbers asvariables to prediction numbers of fatality. This study aimed to obtaining the best predictive model of road victims’ fatality which suits Indonesia’s conditions. Three models were compared are Andreassen model, Artificial Neural Network with two variables (ANN2) and four variables (ANN4), with driving license holderand road length as two additional variables. Model validation was performed on three cities in West Java with different categories population densities. The results reveal that ANN4 is the best fatality prediction model. In addition, predictions of road victim numbers in Indonesia are not only influenced by populationand vehicles number, but also by driving license holder numbers and road length. Keywords: fatality, model comparison, Andreassen model, Artificial Neural Network model

Abstract

An evaluation of fatigue resistance for foamed asphalt mixture is very demanding since the binder is not continuously distributed on the aggregate surface and this mixtures contains water, the content of which dramatically affects the mechanical properties. This paper discusses the results of laboratory fatigue testingon the foamed asphalt mixtures in which the specimens are generated using three different foamed bitumen properties. Foamed bitumen as the binder was produced at three different foaming water content (FWC) at a temperature of 180oC using a 70/100 pen. The aggregates were mechanically mixed with foamed bitumen using a Hobart mixer. The resulting mixtures were then compacted using a gyratory compactor to generatespecimen with diameter of 100 mm. The specimens were fatigue tested at various stress levels at a temperature of 20oC following a curing period of 3 days at 40oC. Overall, fatigue performance of foamed asphalt can be identified based upon both stress and strain for mixtures produced at FWC 1%, 5%, and 10%.Keywords: fatigue performance, foamed asphalt, binder, foaming water content.

Abstract

Congestion that occurred in the vicinity of Petra Christian University campus tends to increasing on the peak hours. One of the possible solutions to reduce congestion is to revamp the geometric design of campus access, as proposed in the final report of PCU Master Plan. The study was conducted to determine differences in the intersection performance indicator between the existing conditions compared with the proposed access design. The data was collected through survey of road inventory, origin-destination, and turning movement. The traffic assignment process carried using Trafikplan software, and analysis of the access performed by using software KAJI. Based on the result, it can be inferred if the proposed design ofgeometric access implemented, the intersection capacity estimated to be increase up to 46.6%, degree of saturation reduce up to 31.9%, intersection delay reduce up to 57%, and queue probability reduce up to 50.9%; compared with the existing access conditions till the year 2020. The demand management program should also be considered as an option to reduce congestion. Keywords: unsignalised intersection, reversible lane

Abstract

Traffic congestion is part of the transportation problems which are always resolved using indicators and transportation modeling without considering the spatial or land use development sectors. Land use affects the development and attract the use of urban road network and, thereby, increases the traffic volume. Besides the traffic circulation will create traffic conflicts, congestion, delay, and reduce the traffic speed. Transportation problems can be anticipated by implementing an integrated transportation management system, using a computer program that is able to detect the problem as early as possible. Dynamic modeling can be used to model complex problems of urban transportation. The results of this study indicate that the dynamic systemmodeling can be used as a tool to estimate the space requirement, with modeling variables must be first determined, making it clear what to be assessed and how the data to be structured. Keywords: traffic congestion, transportation management, dynamic modelling

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the availability and level of service of the infrastructure for pedestrians at Jalan Somba Opu and Jalan Penghubung, in the city of Makassar. The method used is qualitative interpretation based on the interpretation of actual conditions in the field. Investigations were made at three observation points, i.e point A, point B, and point C. The results showed that the maximum level of service for pedestrianinfrastructure was found in the observation point B. The availability of pedestrian infrastructure in all three observation points A, B, and C are still meeting the needs of road users. Pavement surface condition is still good with continuous connectivity. Keywords: pedestrian infrastructure, level of service, continuous connectivity.
