Abstract

The Sulawesi Island is a region which has been growing and the development related to the economicdevelopment - era and the global trade. The potency of natural resource and the geographic location ofSulawesi are very prospective to be promoted to the National and International Market. For the reason, theexistence of efficient and effective transportation network system can support the wheel of economy inSulawesi. The integrated infrastructure and service networks are therefor demanded to reduce travel time sothat transportation cost can also be minimized. This paper gives a description about the development ofinfrastructure network and the transportation service and how to develop integrated transportation networkthat makes transportation in Sulawesi will be more effective and efficient. Keywords: infrastructure, integrated transport, intermodes

Abstract

The location of high school is a place where traffic jam frequently occurs. Therefore, the selection of school locations should consider the trips generated by the school activities. The purpose of this study is to develop trip generation models for the school areas. Surveys were conducted at five state high school locations inMakassar city. The results show that the amount of trips to bring students to school is affected by the total school area, the number of class rooms, and the area of class rooms. Meanwhile, the amount of trips to pickup student is influenced by upon the total school area and the area of class roomsKeywords: trip generation, school activity, school area, and area of class rooms.

Abstract

An Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system can be used to reduce vehicle queues in toll gates. This study aims to determine the most effective combination of conventional and ETC booths in a toll gate. The Pondok Gede Timur toll gate was selected as a case study for this research. The results show that vehicle flow did not linearly affect the vehicle lost time since the fluctuations of vehicle flows were significantly different from one day to another. The application of ETC system could reduce the queue length, both in conventional and ETC booths located in a toll gate. Keywords: conventional toll booth, ETC booth, lost time, and queue length.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the elasticity of factors which influence the demand of public transport in London and Yogyakarta, based on the study of Paulley et al (2006) and the study of Sugiyanto (2007). The mode choice model between private cars and public transport (city bus) was developed based on users preferences as indicated by travel attributes. Five travel attributes were assumed to have high influences toward mode choice behavior, i.e; travel cost, congestion charge, travel time, headway of public transport (city bus), and walking time to the bus stop. The logit binomial model was used to formulate the individual behavior based on the stated preference data obtained from private car users in the Malioboro corridor. Themode choice model between private cars and city bus was developed based on 520 options from 65 respondents who used private cars to go to Malioboro to be as through traffic. Based on the direct and cross elasticity, the travel cost attribute has the highest elasticity value. Travel cost is the most sensitive attributewhich influences the election probability of private cars and city bus. The factors which influence the demand of public transport in London are fares, quality of service, income, and car ownership. Keywords: mode choice, stated preference, and elasticity

Abstract

More than 90% of freight movement in Indonesia is carried out by land transportation (mostly highway mode). Meanwhile most nation land is surrounded by water, in which the movement could have been carried out by sea transportation. There are rail network in Java Island and some parts of Sumatera Island where multimodal/inter-modality system can be applied. However, lack of sea and rail transportation infrastructure and management makes highway mode the main choice among other transportation modes. This study investigated the impact of overloading trucks in the freight transportation system in Indonesia, because the government still allows trucks to carry up to 50% of the normal maximum load. This policy has greatinfluence on road deterioration, creating the vehicle damage factor approximately 5 times higher than that of the normal one. This overloading has a big impact on the maintenance of the road and will increase themaintenance budget.

Abstract

The growth of Semarang City created residential areas in the pheriperal of the city. The objectives of this study is to analyze the development of public transport based on the geographic information system. The method used is a descriptive method, using isoprice and mobility models. The results show that mobility to the central city is influenced by transportation expenses and potensial amount of people transported. Keywords: Public trasport development, isoprice, and mobility model.

Abstract

The identification of transportation cost structure could help public transportation managers to determine the minimum tariff that can provide the maximum service for peoples. The tariff should be acceptable by the users and still gives fair profit for the operators. This study investigated the public transport Rute number 011(Sub Terminal Pancasila – Pasirangin) in Tasikmalaya City, to find the ability and the willingness to of the users. It was found that the current fare of public transport for Kota Tasikmalaya is higher than the ability to pay of the users. Keywords: tariff, fare, public transportation, and ability to pay.

Abstract

The provision of bus rapid transit (busway) in Jakarta aims to provide a high service quality of publictransportation, to reduce congestion, and to improve the transportation system. In fact, the success of publictransportation depends on the acceptance and loyalty of the user. The image and experience of the userregarding the service quality also has a significant influence. Thus, the aim of this study is to explore therelations among constructs, i.e. user loyalty, image, and experience regarding the service quality of BRT.Responses from the user in the first corridor of BRT system was analyzed using structural equationmodeling. The results show that high image owned by the users regarding the service does not necessarilymean a high loyalty shown by the users. Analyses confirm the support of perceived service quality on theloyalty of the user in the future. Keywords: loyalty, image, fact, quality of service, busway
