Abstract

This research was based on the results of students’ ability to analyze the elements of legend stories among fifth-grade students at SDN 034 Sukajadi Pekanbaru in the second semester of the 2010/2011 academic year. Of the 30 students, only 40% achieved classical completeness, whereas the required standard was 80% of students meeting the minimum mastery criterion set by the school, which was 65.00. The research problem was formulated as whether the application of the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type could improve students’ ability to analyze the elements of legend stories. The purpose of this research was to improve students’ ability to analyze legend story elements through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type. This study employed classroom action research using the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type with 30 fifth-grade students at SDN 034 Sukajadi Pekanbaru. The action was conducted in May 2011. The initial results showed that the average score of students’ ability to analyze legend story elements was 60, with only 40% or 12 students achieving scores above the minimum mastery criterion. After the implementation of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) model in the first daily test (UH I) of Cycle I, the average score increased to 68.33, with 60% or 18 students achieving mastery. In the second daily test (UH II) of Cycle II, the average score further increased to 78, with 89.91% or 27 students achieving mastery. Therefore, the research hypothesis stating that the application of the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type can improve the ability to analyze the elements of legend stories among fifth-grade students at SDN 034 Sukajadi Pekanbaru was accepted

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create equal distribution and understanding of life area education for primary school students, so that students can develop appropriate attitudes and actions in accordance with the concept of life area education. In addition, this research aims to provide an alternative model for the development of life area education in Pekanbaru based on the national curriculum or local curriculum, so that it can contribute concretely to curriculum development within the framework of life area education. The data used in this research consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through surveys in the form of direct observations in schools and interviews with relevant stakeholders, including the Head of the Education Department, school principals, and teachers. Primary data were also collected through questionnaires distributed to principals, teachers, and students, focusing on cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of life area education. Secondary data were obtained from school-related documents, such as records of environmental education (PLH) activities conducted in schools, as well as documents from relevant stakeholders. Based on the analysis of the school curriculum, life area education can be integrated into five subjects: religion, civics, science and technology, arts, and physical education. Furthermore, the analysis of educational stakeholders indicates strong support for the inclusion of life area education in the local curriculum and its implementation in daily school activities. Based on the analysis of students’ knowledge and attitudes, primary school students demonstrate a good understanding of life area education and have shown positive behaviors in caring for their school environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze student teachers at Primary School Teacher Education of Riau University in understanding the concepts of measurement of perimeter and area. The reason for conducting this research is that many student teachers usually use formal formulas in solving problems of perimeter and area measurement, and they tend to apply the same approach when teaching primary school students, causing students to not understand how the formulas work. Design research was chosen as the method for collecting data. The data were collected from 48 student teachers of the Primary School Teacher Education program at Riau University. The results showed that six out of ten groups of student teachers did not use partitioning at the beginning of the lesson and also made mistakes in measuring the perimeter of unstructured shapes. After classroom discussion, 96% of student teachers came to the idea of partitioning, which means they realized the importance of partitioning in measuring the area of unstructured shapes.

Abstract

Problems in this research originated from field observations showing that volleyball players often failed to serve accurately to the intended target, which was presumed to be influenced by explosive arm muscle power and hand–eye coordination. This study aimed to determine the magnitude of the contribution of explosive arm muscle power and hand–eye coordination to service accuracy among students of Sports Coaching Education at Universitas Riau. The research employed a correlational design. The population consisted of 52 Sports Coaching Education students, and through purposive sampling, 25 students who were able to perform overhead serves were selected as samples. Data were collected using a medicine ball test to measure explosive arm muscle power, the Ballwerfen und Fangen test to assess hand–eye coordination, and a service accuracy test. Data analysis was conducted using simple and multiple product-moment correlation as well as coefficient of determination to identify the level of contribution. The results showed a significant relationship between explosive arm muscle power and service accuracy with an r-count of 0.428 greater than r-table 0.396 and a contribution of 18.28%. A significant relationship was also found between hand–eye coordination and service accuracy with an r-count of 0.411 greater than r-table 0.396 and a contribution of 16.91%. Furthermore, there was a significant combined relationship between explosive arm muscle power and hand–eye coordination with service accuracy, indicated by an R-count of 0.533 greater than R-table 0.396, with a total contribution of 28.44%.

Abstract

Problems in this research originated from field observations indicating that students’ performance in the 100-meter sprint was relatively low, which was presumed to be influenced by acceleration ability and reaction time. This study aimed to determine the relationship between reaction time and acceleration with 100-meter running achievement of male students in the second semester of Penjaskesrek FKIP Universitas Riau. The research employed a correlational design. The population consisted of 76 male students, and using purposive sampling, 35 students were selected as the sample. Data were collected using the Whole Body Reaction Test, a 30-meter sprint test, and a 100-meter sprint test. The data were analyzed using simple and multiple product moment correlation techniques. The results showed a significant relationship between reaction time and 100-meter running performance, indicated by r_count = 0.465 > r_table = 0.334. There was also a significant relationship between acceleration and 100-meter running performance, with r_count = 0.434 > r_table = 0.334. Furthermore, a significant simultaneous relationship was found between reaction time and acceleration with 100-meter running achievement, as indicated by R_count = 0.562 > R_table = 0.334.

Abstract

One of the purposes of this research is to preserve texts from physical deterioration. The primary text examined is housed in the Jakarta National Library, while other related texts in microfiche form at the Leiden University Library were not included due to limitations of time and access. In addition to preservation, this research aims to reveal and interpret the messages contained within the texts. Given the fragile condition of the manuscripts, immediate conservation efforts are essential; without such efforts, the texts risk irreversible deterioration in the near future. The loss of these texts would not only diminish national cultural heritage but also erase the moral, religious, and social values embedded within them. Through these texts, a comprehensive understanding of past societal thought patterns, cultural practices, beliefs, and value systems can be obtained. Text A serves as the primary transliterated text and forms the basis for comparison with Text B, as Text A presents a more complete narrative structure and storyline. The values conveyed in this saga reflect the author’s intended moral messages to readers, including prohibitions and guidance related to marital conduct, mutual assistance, compassion for humanity, the obligation of prayer for every Muslim, respect for parents and teachers, and prohibitions against immoral behavior and consuming unlawful food, all of which constitute the core messages. In addition, the text also conveys supporting messages such as the practice of remembrance (dzikir), encouragement to seek and teach knowledge, proper sleeping procedures, the importance of repentance, and the recommendation to begin activities using the right hand.
