Abstract

Student center building Prof. A. Madjid Ibrahim who has been reconstructed back in use as a meeting hall with a capacity of 500 people, but the results showed that the temperature in the room is empty conditions at 13:00 pm 32.7 0C, humidity 61%. The time charged 30 people occupants temperature during hours the same 33.5 0C, humidity 60%. While over 100 people filled the temperature at the same time at 34.4 0C, 57% humidity, and wind speed to the three conditions is 0 m / s. From the results of research on different floors 1 and 2 indoor temperature difference measured at 09.00 pm with the comfort standard is 2.2 0C obtained under thermal comfort in the building arena student Prof. A. Madjid Ibrahim is not achieved because the temperature of indoor air temperature outside the comfort standard SNI T03-6572.

Abstract

A hydraulic ram pumps, or shortly known as a hydram, is a water-lifting device that operates automatically and continuously. It is a device that uses the energy in the flowing water such as spring, stream or river to pump part of the water to a height above that of the source. With a continuous flow of water a hydram operates continuously with no external energy source. Hidram pump design influenced several input parameters such as head, inlet pipe diameter and yield parameters: length of inlet pipe, heavy weight exhaust valve, the inflow speed, output flow rate and efficiency of the pump. In this study, the analysis is done using visual basic 6.0 computer program, as well as completion of the problem in terms of design of the hydram pump. The performance results are then compared with the experimental results. This program aims to ensure that everyone can design and make the hidram pump, with still follow the general rules of the proper design.

Abstract

Vibration analysis of rotor system has been widely performed by numeric method along with the development of computer technology. By the use of the technology, the analysis of the dynamic characteristic of a rotor system has been investigated. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of shaft diameter to the dynamic characteristic of a rotor system. The investigation is conducted by using computer program simulation. The study is conducted for four system rotor models with a variation of number of disks. Each model has one rotor shaft which is numerically divided into several line elements. The simulation result shows the natural frequencies of the rotor models.

Abstract

The study was conducted to measure exhaust emissions and describe the level of air pollution from motorcycles operating in Banda Aceh and and surrounding areas. The measurement of exhaust emissions is done when the engine starts with the average gas pressure between 3000 - 4000 rpm and the motorcycle is in  stationary condition, as well as air conditioning in the cabin is off. The measurement parameter is Carbon Dioxide CO2 ( % ) , Carbon Monoxide CO ( mg/m3 ) , Nitrogen Dioxide NO2 ( mg/m3 ) , and Sulful Dioxide SO2 ( mg/m3 ) and the emission gauge used is Quintox flue Gas Analyzer. Based on the results of the study of the level of CO2 produced by motorcycles of various cylinder capacities are 12 % below quality standards. The level of O2 generated in the combustion process of the motorcycles is far above 2% and 1050mg/m3 of SO2. The level of SO2 exshausted is 2% above the quality standard of SO2 set in the Regulation of the Minister of  Environment , which is 800 mg/m3.

Abstract

Fisheries as one of the pillars of the local economy in Aceh Province that had been optimally utilized. Catches especially during the harvest tends to be sold by the fishermen to other areas due to lack of knowledge of post-harvest handling. One of the post-harvest processing is the preservation of a cooling system is usually done with the use of cold storage box (cold box) at the Fish Landing Places (TPI). This study aims to get the length of storage time of fish that can maintain a temperature of 0°C to 5°C, by using the 3 kinds of cold storage box is made of wood material, fiber and styrofoam. From the results of testing two methods: the method of fish in the middle of the ice around it and the traditional methods used by the community found that containers with wood coated styrofoam insulation to maintain temperature of 2°C, while the  isolation box storage timber, fiber and styrofoam fish temperature exceeds 2.5°C. Wooden storage box covered with styrofoam has the most room temperature lower than the usualbox used by the community. This box is the ideal storage box, the construction is very simple.  The box is fully insulated by wood and styrofoam.

Abstract

Combustion of biobriquette produced from coal and palm shell generate considerable energy. However beside generating biobriquette energy it also produces emissions gas. Emissions gas resulting from combustion include SOx, NOx, CO and CO2. Calcium is an adsorbent often used to adsorb released SO2 gas in the combustion process. The purpose of this study is to seethe effect of combustion temperature and type of adsorbent used in biobriquette to evaluate the efficiency of absorption of SO2 and the kinetics of the reaction of SO2 gasabsorption as a function of combustion biobriquette ratio Ca/S (mol / mol) on coal and palm shell ratio of 90:10 (w/w). In this study, the ratio of Ca/Swas Specified at1:1, 1.25:1, 1.5:1, 1.75: 1 and 2:1. Combustion temperatures used were 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500°C. The result of this study showed the decrease levels of SO2 for scallop shell and green mussels  was highest at the ratio Ca/S2: 1. The highest absorption of efficiency adsorbent for scallop shells are produced at the ratio of Ca/2:1 at temperatures 400°C, equals to 90.59%. Meanwhile for the green mussels, the highest efficiency was resulted ratio of Ca/S 1.5:1 at temperatures 400°C which was equals to 84.74%. Reaction rate constants of absorption in the biggest adsorbent of scallop shells produced at ratio Ca/S 1:1 equals to  0.265, while the biggest reaction rate constants of adsorbent green mussels produced at being Ca/S 1.5:1equals to  0,198.

Abstract

Nugget is one of food ready to served which raw material was a chicken meat. The aimed this research is to get a limited or how long time to save nugget that defended the temperature 0oC, with need time 2 – 4 days only,which made from a wood and styrofoam. From the result of research that the wood box able to defended the temperature in 0oC at the fiftieht hours,styrofoam box at sixty fourth hours and mixture box in seventy one hours. The temperature on nugget (T1) wood box from the first hour until thirty ninth hours experienced rise of temperature lower than mixture box and styrofoam. The temperature on the box (T2)   wood box from the first hours  until fourty sixth huors experienced rise of the temperature lower than mixture box and styrofoam box.

Abstract

The study is done to get an axial low head turbine design that gave good performance by using flat blade to further simplifying manufacture. The study is consists of three stages. First, designing an axial low head turbine. Second, manufacturing it and the last, testing on turbine performance. The testing that conducted to 3 m head use three kind of discharges, 0,14 l/s, 0,12 l/s, and 0,10 l/s. Three kinds of runners with blade angle, 30o, 35o, and 40o are also use in the testing. Based on the result of the test, it is known that the best efficency, 76%, turbine rotation on 613 rpm and power 2,013 kW is given by the blade angle 40o.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of variations in the use of fillers for particle board. Various composition of fillers from rice husk and wood sawdust were mixed with synthetic glue matrix of PVAC (Poly Vinyl Acetate Co-Acrylic) and port land cement to produce the particle board. Their effects to the thermal conductivity of particle board (fiberboard) is analyzed. Four walls of particle boards of 25 cm2 were installed in the specialy prepared test apparatus. The measurements were conducted for the surface temperature outside and inside with the measurement interval of  70 minutes. From the results of measurements, the smallest thermal conductivity property is given by kayu jati sawdust with a conductivity of 0.020 W/m0C. Rice husk particle board has a conductivity of 0.024 W/m0C, while the highest conductivity is given by rice husk bran particle board, which is 0042 W/m0C.

Abstract

The increase of population, followed by the increasing growth of the industry led to high demand of electricity. Many different ways have been done to find and use natural potential as electrical energy that can be used. The potential energy of water is one of the energy that can be converted into electrical energy maximally. One of still unused water potential energies is the water of Krueng Meureudu in Pidie Jaya. The river location is in Lhok Sandeng village, Meurah Dua sub district, Pidie Jaya. The width of the river ranges from 30 to 50 meter with the debit of about 10÷15 m3/ s. This can be used to generate electricity using Francis type water turbines to meet the energy requirements of the surrounding population. The first step in designing the turbine is to determine the turbine type based on the value of specific rotation (Ns) obtained from the head (H) and debit data (Q). Then, the design of main components, which are runner, shaft, spiral casing, guide vane and draft tube. Thus, based on the calculation, the dimensions and designs of the main components of the Francis turbine are obtained.
