Abstract

Food diversification efforts by leveraging local food, such as purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Blackie) needs to be improved because of the potential to be used as a functional food ingredient. Purple Sweet Potato Starch Modification function to change the functional properties contained in starch to increase the added value as functional food ingredients. This study uses a modification Heat Moisture Treatment (HMT) on purple sweet potato starch with the treatment temperature and heating times. The study design used completely randomized design (CRD) arranged as factorial with two factors, namely by heating starch at high temperatures (70oC, 85oC and 100°C) and prolonged heating (3 hours, 5 hours and 7 hours). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by a further test HSD (α = 0.05). The results showed that the treatment temperature and longer heating HMT give real effect to the Oil Holding Capacity, moisture content, FT-IR, starch content, fiber content and antioxidant activity, but to the Water Holding Capacity and digestibility no significant effect. Judging from the functional value best treatment is prolonged heating temperature of 85ºC with 3 hours resulted in digestibility of 8.50%, temperature 70°C with a 3 hour long heating produces antioxidant activity of 18.79%, and prolonged heating temperature of 100ºC with 5 hours produce high levels of fiber 1,39%.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa tentang Biologi di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Banawa. Jenis Penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dua siklus dan setiap siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan tatap muka dan satu kali pertemuan tes akhir siklus. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 24 siswa. Tehnik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi aktivitas guru, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa dan tes hasil belajar. Indikator keberhasilan data kuantitatif menggunakan rumus ketuntasan belajar individu dan ketuntasan belajar klasikal. Indikator keberhasilan data kualitatif jika aktivitas guru dan siswa berada pada kategori baik atau sangat baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD pada mata pelajaran Biologi dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Aktivitas siswa dapat dilihat dari hasil observasi aktivitas siswa pada setiap pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Siklus I pertemuan pertemuan 1 dengan hasil 68,40% dan pertemuan 2 menjadi 71,35%. Sedangkan aktivitas guru 89,28% dengan kategori baik pada pertemuan1 dan  92,85% pada pertemuan 2 dengan kategori sangat baik. Pada siklus II akivitas siswa pertemuan 1,  71,88% dan pada pertemuan 2, 74,65% dan aktivitas guru dari 92,85% kategori sangat baik pertemuan 1 dan 96,42% pada pertemuan 2 juga berada pada kategori sangat baik. Hasil tes belajar siklus I diperoleh nilai ketuntasan belajar klasikal 70,83%, daya serap klasikal 71%. Sedangkan hasil belajar siklus II dengan ketuntasan belajar klasikal 87,5%, daya serap klasikal 77%.

Abstract

Research on application of  Cooperative Model STAD type with helped elearning and wingeom application at math has been done in class X SMA Negeri 1 Palu. This study aims to determine differences in learning outcomes, interest and motivation to learn  about  a distance of a point to the plane material  by using a model of  STAD cooperative  with helped elearning and wingeom applications. The research sample of 56 students, which is divided into an experimental group were 21 students that the class X MIA 1 and 35 students as a second experimental class, class X MIA 3, which is determined by simple random sampling technique. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment with intact-group comparison design. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis (t-test of two parties, one way anova and two ways anova). The results showed that there were differences in learning outcomes, interest and motivation as a result of the second treatment using with elearning and applications wingeom. This is supported by the results of data analysis showed that the differences in learning outcomes and motivation can be viewed by one factor.The conclusion of this study there are differences in learning outcomes and student motivation as a result of treatment STAD model aided elearning and wingeom applications. But for interest there is no difference.

Abstract

Sabang Tende Waters is one of the tourist sites and is often visited by tourists. So seagrass will be undergoing environmental degradation and presentation tutupannya also continues to munurun. There are several factors which led to pressure on the field tour, number of seagrass nearly 200 people every week so in monthly can reach 800 people. Therefore the condition of Sabang Tende as the location of the utilization of nautical tourism will experience pressure on ecosystems seagrass research needs to be done, then the profile of seagrass ecosystems as one indicator of the health of the coast. Exploiting the potential of the coast can improve the welfare of coastal communities, but in the absence of sustainable management, it will reduce the function of the coast. This research aim 1). Identify the types of seagrass, density, density and type of closure of seagrass in waters Sabang Tende., 2). It examines the factors that influence Community characteristics, composition, density, and distribution of seagrass in waters Sabang Tende., 3). Analyzing the public perception about the role/benefits of ecosystem health indicators as seagrass in waters across the coast Tende. Research using the method of observation, interview, koesioner, and biophysical surveys. Research results showed the kind of density on the station I namely 27.5 ind/12m2stasiun II: 12m2 ind/42, station III: 36.9 ind/12m2. Based on the results of the research conducted in the third observation station, the number and type of seagrass found different (not always the same), i.e. the most types found on the station I (natural zones) as much as 4 types, while on station II (residential zone) as 6 types, and III (zone tourist resort) is only found 5 types of seagrass. The physical and chemical conditions on the the station I, II, and III 7 pH, salinity of 30 0/00, while the II, III have a range of 320/00 and it shows that the percentage 48.8 % said that seagrass beds that is in sabang tende in stir by a tourist who is visiting and 29 % of respondents said that seagrass beds that is in sabang tende having the condition seagrass beds good.

Abstract

This study was aimed to: (1) investigate the influence of Problem Based Learning model toward students’ learning achievement; (2) examine the difference of students with high achievement motivation and those with low achievement motivation’s learning result; (3) test the interaction between Problem Based Learning model and achievement motivation toward students’ learning result on Biology subject of XI Grade Science Program at MAN 2 Model Palu. The method applied in this study was quasi-experiment. The population of this study was the XI Grade students of Science Program at MAN 2 Model Palu, comprised of 4 classes. Sample selection was determined through the assigment of random sampling technique. The independent variablse of this study were: the Problem Based Learning and Direct Instruction.The students’ learning result as the dependent variable, and the achievement motivation which served as the moderator variable. The data collected through learning achievement test and achievement motivation questionnaire. The data of the study were analyzed by two-way ANNOVA technique asssisted by the SPSS program version 16. The result of this study proved that: (1) the Problem Based Learning model had a significant influence on students’ learning result. It proved to be grander than the Direct Instruction in influencing students’ learning result; (2) there was a significant difference of students’ learning result between students who have high achievement motivation and those who have low achievement motivation. Students with high achievement motivation performed better result in their learning rather than the students with low achievement motivation; and (3) there was no presence of interaction between Problem Based Learning model and achievement motivation towards students’ learning result. Where the learningmodels (PBL and Direct Instruction) and the achievement motivation did not influence students’ learning result either at high or low level of achievement motivation.

Abstract

This research, generally, aims at investigating the structure and the characteristic of model sytem in responding the potency of seaweed cultivation and formulating some alternative of policy in expanding seaweed cultivation to increase the cultivators prosperity and the local income. The validation test result to the model system of seaweed cultivation showed that the model was statiscally accepted. The test consisted of the Absolute Mean Error (AME) which P = 0,077 (P < 0.10), Absolute Variation Error (AVE) which P = 0.043 (P < 0.10), Durbin Watson (DW-test) which the value 1.92 and Kalman Filter (KF) which the value 0.313 (KF < 0.50). The Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP) result showed that it is needed the expansion of seaweed cultivation which the feasibility value showed that B/C ratio is 2.67 and the number of priority vector is 0.45, it means that 45 % opinions support the expansion of seaweed cultivation in the investigating area. This case is also supported by the result of financial analysis, which the indicator value of B/C ratio is 1.15 and the IRR value is 79.06 %., it means that the business of seaweed cultivation is beneficial and suitable for it being expanded.

Abstract

Tilapia has a high tolerance to salinity waters. This study aims to assess the growth and survival of tilapia reared at salinity. Assessing the optimal salinity for the growth and survival of tilapia fish. This study will use a completely randomized design (CRD). Completely randomized design to be used consists of 4 levels of treatment with each of 4 replicates ie Treatment A: Maintenance of tilapia in medium salinity 0 ppt, Treatment B: Maintenance of tilapia in the media with a salinity of 10 ppt, Treatment C: Maintenance fish indigo in media with 20 ppt salinity, treatment D: Maintenance of tilapia in media with 30 ppt salinity The variables measured were daily growth rate and survival of tilapia reared at salinity media The results showed that the growth of tilapia is affected by salinity, The highest absolute growth value was obtained at a salinity of 20 ppt with an average of 2.68 grams, then followed at a salinity of 30 ppt with an average of 2.35 grams and a salinity of 10 ppt with an average of 2.31 grams and the best growth rate achieved at a salinity of 20 ppt is 26,48%. Tilapia fish survival was not significantly different in the four treatments. This suggests that the increase in salinity from 0 ppt - 30 ppt does not affect the survival of tilapia fish

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the level of sustainability of aquaculture Minapolitan based in the Sarasa village Dapurang subdistrict, Mamuju Utara regency. The method used is RAPFISH analysis method using 5 dimensions of human resources, natural resources, institutional, technological and infrastructure. The results showed that the sustainability status Minapolitan based aquaculture in the Sarasa village Dapurang subdistrict, Mamuju Utara regency categorized quite sustainable because the resulting index value of 65.33. Status sustainability Sarasa Minapolitan in the village in terms of dimensions less sustainable technologies. Thus, the preparation and implementation of policies that can improve the condition of the sustainability of farming in the Sarasa village Minapolitan Dapurang subdistrict, Mamuju Utara regency deemed necessary.

Abstract

The research aimed at investigating the effect of model of  problem based learning (PBL) on the concept comprehension and critical thinking skill about  ecosystem and environment of class X students’ of biology at SMA Negeri 1 Sigi. The method used is quasi-experimental pretest-posttest 2 x 2. The research sample is determined with random sampling. The class selected as the research sample was class X A and X B. The data was collected by using the concept comprehension test in form of  multiple and  the critical thinking skill test in form of essay test. Data obtained was the primary data which directly analyzed descriptively and analysis of covariance. Resuts of the data analysis at significance level α = 0,05 is at follow: (1) the learning outcomes (the concept comprehension) of student that were learned by the model of problem based learning (PBL) (mean=72,86) was higher than the cognitive learning outcomes of studens that were learned with the conventional learning (mean=58,93) with a significance value of  0,003.  (2) the learning outcomes (critical thinking skill) of student that were learned by the model of  problem based learning (PBL) (mean=74,12) was higher than the cognitive learning outcomes of studens that were learned with the conventional learning (mean=57,45) with a significance value of 0,018.  Based on the result of  this research, it can be concluded that: there are the effect  of model of  problem based learning (PBL) on the concept comprehension and critical thinking skill about   ecosystem and environment of  class X students’ of biology at  SMA Negeri 1 Sigi.

Abstract

This research aims to know community structure of crabs present in mangrove at Pinotu village, Toribulu subdistrict, Parigi Moutong regency and to developed its resultant for biology learning media being a pocket boo. The research was descriptivelycarried out at the village and was improved to design 4D. Sampling was undertaken by observing crabs found in each of the determinate stations in which those was then divided into quadrant transect and retrieval time consisting of 11.30 – 12.30; 17.00 – 18.00; 23.30 – 24.30 periods. The resultant observation was eventually to be a pocket book for biology learning media. Results of the research showed that 6 species of crabs were found in the area including Uca annulipes, Uca rosea, Uca paradussumieri, Scylla serrata, Epixanthus dentatus, and Sarmatum germaini. Total of the observed crabd was 297 individuals. Absolute density value and retrieval times were mostly found in station II during 18.00 – 19.00 periods. Sarmatium germaini was a species of crabs possessing the highest of the relative density value (55,56%). Moreover, diversity index per station ranged 0.7305 – 0.7491 that means it was less then 1.0 indicating a low diversity. For dominancy index, it ranged 0.678 – 0.776. the highest dominancy was observed in station III valued 0.0776 suggesting that a richness of species of crabs was a quite low. Distribution patterns of species present in station I, III, and III were 0.394, 0.304, and 0.016, respectively, recommending that those were uniform distribution patterns. These seems that the habitats, physical factors, retrieval times strongly affected on crab community present in the mangrove forest. In addition, data analysis showed that the community structure of crabs in mangrove forest at Pinotu village was categorized as a low diversity that it was highly resulted in an ecological pressure. The developed pocket book has been validated by content, media, and design experts providng the following value: 91.4%, 9.71%, 77.33%. it has also been tried out to small group and larged group giving the values; 87.2%  and 84.4% respectively. Accordingly, the pocket book can be appropriately used as biology learning media.
