Abstract

This research is literature research using the Systemic Literature Review or SLR research method. The background to this research problem is that mathematics is a science that is studied at all levels of education, but students' mathematics learning outcomes in Indonesia are quite low, because mathematics is still considered a difficult or boring subject. Many researchers use technology-based mathematics learning media using the Quizizz platform to improve learning outcomes. Quizizz platform users from Indonesia rank second highest in the world in June 2024. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the causes of the popularity of Quizizz use in Indonesia, especially at the secondary school level. Through analysis of the results and discussion, it was found that the popularity of the Quizizz platform at the secondary school level in Indonesia was caused by two main factors, such as (1) ease of use and (2) benefits of use. Ease of use includes mobile friendly access, varied and interesting features, as well as a usage guide. Meanwhile, the benefits of using it include increasing students' knowledge aspects (such as problem solving abilities) and skills aspects (such as the ability to apply technology), motivation, etc. Apart from that, this application is also useful for educators in terms of time efficiency, both in terms of creating learning tools and evaluation.

Abstract

Melayu dance is often performed by students at school events, but they often do not know that there are many mathematical elements in a Melayu dance. This encourages the author to try to find the application of geometry transformation contained in joget lambak dance. Many types of Melayu dances are very famous, one example is kapur sirih which is used to welcome special guests and joget lambak dance which has a special meaning, where the joget lambak dance on this occasion will be matched with the Melayu song "pucuk pisang". Joget lambak is a dance of young people, joget lambak trips are usually full of nuances of joy, nuances of cheerfulness, which when dancing also occur dancing interactions between young people in order to find a partner to release longing. Usually joget lambak dance becomes an intermediary for them to express that feeling. Geometric transformation is a transformation that studies the process of changing a geometric field that includes its own position, size, and shape, which is caused by translation, dilation, matrix-compatible transformation, rotation, reflection, scale change, and composition of two transformations. This research is a type of literature research with a qualitative approach. The data is collected by document study and analyzed by data analysis technique which is doing a documentation. The result of this study is that it turns out that the joget lambak dance is not only about art, but in it we can also use it as one of the lessons on geometry transformation material. There are so many forms of geometry transformation contained in the lambak dance movement pattern.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential of ethnomathematics in the concept of solid geometry contained in traditional Lebaran foods in Labuhanbatu. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that traditional Lebaran foods in Labuhanbatu contain various solid geometry concepts, such as cylinders, rhombic prisms, spheres, and blocks. These solid geometry concepts are closely related to the process of making traditional Lebaran foods, both in the form of the ingredients used and in the manufacturing process. Additionally, traditional Lebaran foods also contain ethnomathematical values reflected in the patterns, motifs, and shapes found in these foods. Based on this research, it can be concluded that traditional Lebaran foods in Labuhanbatu can be a potential learning resource for teaching solid geometry concepts in mathematics education. Exploring ethnomathematics in traditional Lebaran foods can help students understand solid geometry concepts contextually, thus increasing students' interest and motivation in learning. Therefore, it is hoped that the results of this research can contribute to the development of contextual and culturally-based mathematics education in Indonesia.Key Words: Exploration, Ethnomathematics, Solid Geometry, Lebaran, Mathematics Learning.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics strengthens the relationship between mathematics and culture. The concept and culture of mathematics are inevitable in everyday life. Castles can serve as symbolic representations of certain cultural contexts. The Maimun Royal Palace is an example of how the city of Medan is represented culturally. This paper examines and analyzes the mathematical component of the Maimun Palace's ethnographic method for qualitative descriptive research. According to research, this method aims to provide a comprehensive explanation of all mathematical concepts contained in the Maimun Palace. Bishop's important actions at the Maimun Court demonstrate these mathematical concepts and components. The three main objectives of this research are as follows: (1) collecting and reviewing relevant literature; (2) providing an explanation of the results; and (3) provide an explanation of specific aspects of Bishop's mathematics. Today, flat shapes such as triangles and semicircles are used, along with the mathematical concepts of symmetry and geometric transformation, in carving motifs; The majority of geometric patterns and ornaments in this traditional house are in the form of squares, rectangles, rhombuses, and triangles.

Abstract

Augmented Reality is a technology that is able to combine the real and virtual worlds by displaying three-dimensional (3D) objects on the device's camera media so that on the device screen you can see 3D objects that appear to exist in the real world. This research aims to develop and test the feasibility of an Augmented Reality-based module that can improve students' spatial abilities. This research is development research with the Plomp development model which consists of: Preliminary Investigation; Design; Realization; Test, Evaluation, and Revision. The instruments used were expert validation sheets, observation sheets, interview guidelines, teacher and student response questionnaires, learning outcomes tests, pretest and posttest of student spatial abilities. The types of data are qualitative data and quantitative data. The data analysis carried out was expert team validation data analysis, practicality data analysis, and effectiveness data analysis. The research results show that the material expert score is 91.53% and the design expert score is 90.53%, which is in the very valid category. The module has also been declared practical as seen from the teacher response questionnaire score of 80.00% in the practical category, and the questionnaire score in the small group trial of 84.26% and in the field test of 84.38% in the very practical category. Effectiveness is shown by 83.33% of students completing the learning outcomes test, and the results of the N-Gain calculation show that 11 students experienced a moderate increase in spatial ability and 13 students experienced a high increase in spatial ability. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Augmented Reality-based module for flat-sided building material that has been developed is suitable for use as learning teaching material. The research objective is to develop learning media with Android-based augmented reality in junior high school level mathematics lessons. The research method used to develop this learning media is a type of research and development (RND). The development model used is the ADDIE model with stages Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. In this research, the product has been validated by media experts, material experts and language experts, as well as students on a small scale. The results of the validation of experts and students can be concluded that learning media with Android-based augmented reality is in the very feasible category with the validation percentage obtained by media experts 95%, material experts 93.28%, language experts 87.5% and student validation 90.19%. So that learning media with Android-based augmented reality is suitable for use as a mathematics learning media for junior high school level.
