Abstract

AbstractNatural herbicides is an effort to improve the competitiveness of the quality and quantity of production. Although the tall grass (Imperata cylindrica L.) is a weed, but this plant can be used as a herbicide to suppress the growth of weed seeds in the soil. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of grass root extract in suppressing the growth of weed seeds in the soil. The research was conducted in the home garden experiment pads Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra Muhammadiyah Jln. Tuar no. Medan District 65 Sand with altitude ± 27 m above sea level and implemented from the month of February 26, 2012 to 23 April 2012. Using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial with 10 treatments and 3 replicates and tested using Duncant test (DMRT). With the concentration of A0 = 0%, A1 = 15%, A2 = 30%, A3 = 45%, A4 = 60%. In this research found that the degree of concentration of 15% significantly affect the period of germination, mortality, and length of primary roots. In this research found that the degree of concentration of 15% significantly affect the period of germination, mortality, and length of primary roots. In this study differences in the doses used in the treatment level is too low at 15%. So the difference in the data obtained is not significant among all the standard treatments. But the results of research with a concentration of 30% is in treatment in the use of extracts A2G2 alang - alang more effective against the primary root length on weeds and spinach shy daughter of thorns. For mortality, the use of extracts of grass - grass is more effective in the treatment of spinach burr weed. Keywords: Weeds, Herbicides natural alang – alang

Abstract

AbstractThe research was conducted using case study methods (case study). This study aims to determine how to influence the level of capital, labor, experience, education and age of farmers' income levels and how the feasibility of areca nut farm. Research hypotheses are tested using multiple linear regression and the method of R / C ratio (Revenue / Cost). From the research results obtained by the R-square 0.98 identifies that it is simultaneously (synchronously) no significant effect between capital, labor, experience, education and age of the areca farmers' income by 98% the rest influenced by other variables not examined. From the test results are obtained stasistik multiple R-square value of 0.99% means that overall there is a strong influence between capital, labor, experience, education and age of areca farmers' income levels, it is supported by the calculated F-value> F-table at the 95% confidence level (a 0.05) thereby H0 refused and H1 accepted. No effect of partial capital, experience and age on the level of areca farmers' income in this case is supported by the value t count> t-table, while the labor and education had no effect on the income level of farmers nut on a 95% confidence level. The results of the calculation, the nut farm viability obtained was R / C ratio of 1.82. Abstract

AbstractThe research on the degree of grafting of maleic anhydride (MA) on Cyclic Natural Rubber/CNR with the initiator Dicumyl Peroxide (DCP) has done. Grafting process carried out by reflux in a flask technique coupled with the base of the condenser and oil bath at a temperature of (105-110)°C, variations in the concentration of MA (3, 6, 9, 12, 15) phr, DCP variation inisiator concentration (0.05; 0.1; 0.15) molar ratio and variation in time (15, 30, 60, 90) minutes. Determination of the degree of grafting is then performed by the method of titration and FTIR spectra analysis to determine the grafting of MA on CNR chain. The results showed that the MA-g-CNR occurs at 15 phr comparison with the degree of grafting of 0.12% for the variation of the concentration of MA; 0.15 molar ratio to the degree of grafting of 0.07% for the variation in concentration of DCP inisiatior; 90 minutes with a degree grafting of 0.14% for the time variation. Keywords: grafting, cyclic natural rubber, maleic anhydride, dicumyl peroxide
