Abstract

In present work, ramie fiber based composites are fabricated and tested on its mechanical properties and interface structure. The work aims to investigate effect of volume fraction of ramie fiber (VoF) on mechanical properties (yield and tensile strength, bending stress and strain, and modulus elasticity) of the composites. Besides, bonding and mixing between ramie fiber and resin are also observed under interface structure test. The VoF observed are 25, 35, 45, and 55%. The results indicate that maximum yields strength of 8.03 kgf/mm2 and tensile strength of 12.29 kgf/mm2 are obtained in the composite with VoF of 45%. Meanwhile, bending stress of 121.78 MPa and bending stress of 3.25% are observed in the composite with VoF of 55%. Although good bending between ramie and resin are occurred, but non-uniform mixing between the two is observed due to fabrication method used.

Abstract

The research area is located in Karangsari Area, Pengasih District, Kulon Progo Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The purpose of this research is to know porosity and naming of limestone based on petrographic analysis. The method used to determine the porosity and naming of the limestone by analyzing the thin section of limestone and for naming it using Folk Classification (1959) and Dunham (1962). The results of data collection and processing of limestone slabs are observed at Location Observation 1 found Mudstone and Biosparit, at Location Observations 2-5 obtained Packstone and Biomicrite. Based on the petrographic appearance of the rock, the porosity belongs to the intergranular porosity of the pores located between the grains covered by the cement at Location Observation 1 with a 20% percentage of good porosity category, Location Observation 2 with a 20% percentage of good porosity category, Location Observation 3 with percentage 20% sufficient porosity category, Location Observation 4 with percentage 15% category porosity enough, Location Observation 5 with percentage 15% category porosity enough.

Abstract

One of the new and renewable energy resources is Plastic Pyrolysis Oil, that produced from pyrolysis process of plastic wastes. This oil could be utilized as energy source using steam-atomizing burner, which it burning characteristics dependent to air pressure that used in the burner. The objective of the research was to investigate the influence of air pressure on the burning characteristic of plastic pyrolysis oil using steam-atomizing burner. The raw material that used are dry LDPE wastes. First, it was heated in pyrolysis reactor using biomass combustion as energy source, produced pyrolsyis oil, noncondensable gases, and carbon black. The oil that produced is used as fuel for combustion in steam-atomizing burner, to know it burning characteristic, with variable air pressure on 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 bar. The observation was made on fire temperature, the long of flame, and it efficiency, that showed by fuel consumption in burner and yield of plastic pyrolysis oil that produced. The experiment results showed that as the air pressure increased, all parameters were increased, that are fire temperature, the long of flame, fuel consumption in burner, and the yield of plastic pyrolysis oil that produced in the pyrolysis reactor.

Abstract

Affandi Street is one of the main Street that uses plant in every road (green line) in an effort to reduce air pollution. Angsana and Glodogan Tiang plants have a role in reducing air pollution. The purpose of this study was (1) to compare the effectiveness of Lead absorption and Carbon Monoxide in the air between Angsana plant and Glodogan Tiang, (2) knowing the point of the highest contamination of the plants and (3) to know the leaf position which has the most effective absorption. The research was conducted on October 2017-February 2018. The method used was the lower and upper leaf sampling on Angsana and Glodogan Tiang at 3 points along Affandi Street that is, the point 1 intersection of Condong Catur, the 2nd point in front of Mirota Gejayan , and point 3 on Demangan market. Repeat sampling three times in one month, then the sample was tested using Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and Spektrofotometer UV-Vis method at Balai Besar Teknik Kesehatan Yogyakarta, and data analysis using ANAVA and MANAVA method with SPSS application. The results showed that plants greatly affect the absorption of air pollutants in the Affandi Street, from the results it is known that the Glodogan Tiang plant is a better plant in absorbing Pb and CO with average absorbing 3.51189 mg/kg, while the average Angsana absorbs 3,38519 mg/kg. The highest point of pollution location is at location point 3, Demangan market. The more effective leaves position in absorbing Pb is the lower leaf plant and the more effective leaf position absorbs the CO that is the upper leaves of the plant.

Abstract

Increased population growth, economy and insfrastructure development, especially the construction of airports in Kulon Progo district indirectly impact on power availability. An Increase electric load in each year will affect the capacity of the power transformer at the 150 KV Wates substasion. With increasing electric load it will be the greater the electrical load borne by teh power transformator, so to prevent the occurence of overload, it is necesarry to eavaluate the power transformer capability by doing electric load prediction. In this reseacrh, the method used is trend analysis. For power transformer-I use exponential trend with MAPE value of 2,91% obtained estimate of load in year 2019 equal to 25,74 MVA where loading already exceed 80% While power transformer-II using the quadratic trend with MAPE of 1,19% obtained by the estimated load in 2025 of 52,29 MVA, after the addition of a special load plan, obtained load estimation in 2019 has reached 80%. So that in the year 2019 has been done addition of new power transformer, and in year 2024 can be done uprating on power transformer-I.

Abstract

Composite represent a number of systems of multi phase is nature of alliance that is alliance matrix materials or fastener with lasing. Of the merger will yield composite materials which have the nature of mechanical and different characteristic of its material, so that can be planned a composite material which wanted. Coconut coir is found abundantly but it’s exploiting which still less, besides their mechanical properties of this fibre still hanging in doubt. Pursuant to consideration of matter above, hence research about composite with materials filler of fibre of palm tree so that can know the mechanical properties of the each fibre of palm tree composition and matrix. From result of research which to be got highest composite interesting strength equal to 5.538kgf/ mm2 heavy fraction fibre of palm tree 40 %. And highest interesting strength mean equal to 5.128kgf/mm2 heavy faction fibre of palm tree 40 %. Strength of highest composite impact equal to 33.395Joule/mm2 with strength of mean impact 11.132Joule/mm2 heavy fraction fibre of palm tree 40 %.
