Abstract

The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to  know  whether  students’  understanding  of mathematics  concept  by  using  Inside-Outside  Circle  method  is  better  than  students’ understanding  of  mathematics  concept  by  using conventional  method  for  student  garade VIII of SMPN 11 Padang. The kind of this research is experimentalresearch, by using students in class VIII D and VIII E as samples which registered in 2011-2012  academic year. The instrument of this research is written test in essay form based on  the indicator of concept understanding.  Based on the data analysis to test the hypothesis, it is found that P-value 0.013  is lower than  α=0.05, it means that Hois rejected and H1is accepted. So, it can be  concluded  that  students’  understanding  of  mathematics  concept  by  using  InsideOutside Circle method is better than students’ understanding of mathematics concept  by using conventional method.Key Word: Lingkaran Dalam Lingkaran Luar, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis

Abstract

One of the innovations in learning mathematics than can fulfill the demands at this time is problem solving method model SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, and Share). In using this method, the students are included directly in finding the concept, in order to make their learning process more valuable. Besides that, they also can be more active because they are trained to formulate a problem, design solution, formulate the result and also communicate the results that they get.There are four phases in learning method model SSCS, that are 1) the Search phase is a phase related to ideas to make problem identification easier, 2) the Solve phase which centred at specific problem that have determined at the searching phase and the students are required to have the result and declared their planning in getting an answer, 3) the create phase that required the students to have answers to the problems that doing generalization, and even doing modification if needed, and 4) the share phase, the basic concept of the share phase is including the students in communicating the answers through the problems or question and answer, and then reproduce the questions to be investigated in another activity.

Abstract

The  general  puposes  of  experiencing  math  subject  to  elementary  and  middle  school students are; first preparing the students to face the changing of real life through the thinking  rehearsal  based  on  the  effective,  effisien,  honesty,  critical,  rationale,  and logical  way  of  thinking,  and  second,  preparing  the  students  to  apply  the  mental principle  of  math  in  their  daily  life  and  as  basic  in  learning  other  disciplines. Regarding to the importance of learning this subject, teacher of math should be able to create  an  effective  teaching  learning  process  to  stimulate  and  to  rise  students enthusiasm in learning match. One of the strategy that can increase students desire in learning  math  is  PAILKEM  (Pembelajaran  Aktif,  Inovatif,  Lingkungan,  Kreatif, Efektif, dan Menarik). There is an interactive dialoque between  teacher students and students, during teaching-learning process.This creates a condusive situation in wich students feel free to discuss their problems in learning math to their teachers and their classmates.  At  the  end,  through  this  strategy,  students  can  increase their  ability  in learning  and  it  is  hoped  that  teaching  learning  process  will  be  done  in  optimalachievement.Key word: Learning of mathematic, PAILKEM

Abstract

The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to  know  whether  students’  understanding  of mathematics concept by using Cooperative Learning of The Power of two and Four type  is  is  better  than  students’  understanding  of  mathematics  concept  by  using conventional  method  for  student  garade  VII  of  SMPN  22  Padang.  The  kind  of  this research is experimental research. The sample of this research is student in class VII 6 and VII 7. The instrument of this research is final test in essay form which consists of  indicator of concept understanding. The reliability of the test is0.71.Based on the data analysis, it is found that the meanscore of the test related to  students’ understanding of mathematics concept in experimental class is  77.31 and it is higher than control class that is 69.59. Hypothesis testing by using t-test found that p-value 0.015 is lower than α= 0,05. It can be concluded that students’ understanding  of mathematics concept by using Cooperative Learning of The Power of Two and Four  type  is  better  than  students’  understanding  of  mathematics  concept  by  using conventional method.

Abstract

Education is proposed to cause humans to have good personality and characters. The implementation of character education needs whole understanding about the concept of character building and education. Building the students’ character is not an easy and simple task, but it needs some serious efforts which should be continuously done. Therefore, government has promoted curriculum based-character from 2010-2014, by which the character education is not only assigned to one of the subjects as Citizenship Education, but also to other subjects including mathematics. Mathematics is one of the subjects supporting the government program of character education, because some character values, as honesty, responsibility, care network, independence, and etc have been integrated in it. Thus, learning mathematics is not only focused on gaining cognitive purposes, but also on gaining affective and psychomotor purposes. In learning process, the teacher character so that the students can put him or her as the rule model. Key Word: Character Education

Abstract

The infortance of mathematics’ role indicates that the students have to learn mathematics seriously, and actively. So, they are able to understand the concept of math, reasoning and communication, and problem solving. The reasearcher found that students of class XI Social department SMAN 12 padang dit not understand concept of math well. It could be seen from the degree of completeness of mid semester 2008-2009 academic year, taht was only 53%.One of learning model that was applied to overcome this problem was cooperative learning type Group Investigation (GI). Investigation is a learning activity which gives a chance to students to improve their understanding through several activities and the result will be suitable with the students’ development. The research Questions of this study were: 1) How were the activities of the student class XI Social department SMAN 12 Padang through Group Investigation (GI) approach?, 2) How were the result of learning of students class XI Social department SMAN 12 Padang applying Group Investigation?This study was pra experiment, it was One-short case study design, in which this research was done only on one group without having control group.Based on data analysis, it could be concluded that generally students’ activity tend to icrease. Based on post-test, it was gotten that the mean score of the result of math learning was 68.18 in which the percentage of completeness was 82.05%

Abstract

This research has background of the problem because of learning outcome of students math is under of minimum criteria. Teaching and learning process is monotonous so the students are bored in learning. This research has purposes: 1) to know is understanding of students math concept by using teaching and learning method of “Roda Keberuntungan” is betten than by using teaching and learning conventional; 2) to know indicator achievement of understanding of students math concept at IX grade of SMPN 3 Koto Baru Kab. Dharmasraya in academic year 2011-2012.Type of this research is experimental research is experimental, with totaly of students population is IX grade SMPN 3 Koto Baru in academic year 2011-2012. The sample are class IXA and IXB. The Instrumentation is used test understanding of concept and quiz. It is using essay test that has indicator of concept understanding with reliability 0.864.Based on research finding is gotten meanscore of understanding test of students math concept atv experimental class is 80.33 and control class is 68.73. Hypothesis testing used t-test by using software minitab, it is gotten P-value (0.000) less than α (0.05) so hypothesis is accepted with 95%. In Conclusion, understanding of students math concept by using “Roda Keberuntungan” method is better than understanding of students mat concept by using conventional method. Based on data analysis of quiz is gotten that has increasing on indicator understanding of students math concept for every meeting by using “Roda Keberuntungan”.Key Word: Roda Keberuntungan, Pemahaman Konsep matematis
