Abstract

This study aims to determine and predict the onset of financial distress using Altman Z-Score and Zmijewski’s X-Score on cigarette companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period of 2014-2016. Altman Z-Score detects financial distress and bankruptcy on companies using five financial ratios; they are working capital to total assets, retained earnings to total assets, earnings before interest and tax to total assets, market value of equity to book value of liabilities, and sales to total assets. Meanwhile, Zmijewski’s X-Score uses three financial ratios; they are return on Assets, debt ratio, and current ratio. This descriptive research uses quantitative approach. The data are secondary in forms of companies’ financial statements. The results show that both prediction models have similar results. Of the four tobacco companies being studied, three companies are in safe zone during the three-year research period. Furthermore, one company is predicted to experience financial difficulties and have bankruptcy potential in 2014 and 2015 and bounce back to safety in 2016. Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the direct and indirect influence of electronic word of mouth on hotel reservation intention mediated by brand image as the intervening variable. This explanatory research explains the causal relationship between variables through hypothesis testing. This study uses a sample of 100 individual respondents who have read online hotel review in Airy Rooms at least once. The hypothesis testing was done using T test and Sobel test. The data were  analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS), in Smart PLS 3.0. Based on the four hypotheses, it can be concluded that electronic word of mouth has a positive but insignificant influence on the intention of reserving hotel rooms in Airy Rooms’ website, that electronic word of mouth has a positive and significant effect on the brand image of hotels in Airy Room’ website, and that brand image has a positive and significant effect on customer’s intention to reserve hotel rooms in Airy Rooms’ website. Furthermore, electronic word of mouth has a positive and significant influence on consumer’s intention to reserve hotel rooms in Airy Rooms’ s website with completemediation of brand image. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penilaian prestasi kerja dan kompetensi karyawan terhadap promosi jabatan pada PT Semen Padang. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian explanatory yang bertujuan untuk menjelaskan hubungan atau pengaruh antar variabel yang diteliti. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan tetap PT Semen Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel sebanyak 94 responden. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran kuesioner dan diukur dengan menggunakan skala Likert, data sekunder dikumpulkan dari perusahaan dan studi pustaka. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode analisis deskriptif dan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan teknik analisis regresi linear berganda. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel penilaian prestasi kerja dan kompetensi karyawan secara simultan dan parsial berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap promosi jabatan pada PT Semen Padang. Kata Kunci: Penilaian Prestasi Kerja, Kompetensi dan Promosi Jabatan

Abstract

The study aims at identifying the direct and indirect effect of E-Service Quality and Perceived Value on Zalora consumers’ Loyalty Intentions. This explanatory research attempts to elucidate the causal relations among variables through hypothesis testing. This study uses 100 respondents of Zalora consumers, selected using purposive sampling technique with the criteria of reaching 17 years of age at the minimum and having made at least one purchase in Zalora in the last 3 months. The research instrument was assessed using validity, reliability, and classical assumption test. The hypothesis was evaluated using t-test in SPSS 23, and the data are carefully examined using path analysis. The result of the study shows that e-service quality gives a significant direct effect on both loyalty intention of Zalora consumers and perceived value toward such online shopping website. Perceived value also significantly and directly influences loyalty intentions of Zalora consumers. This trend can lead perceived value to give a significant yet indirect effect in mediating the influence of e-service quality on loyalty intentions of Zalora consumers in Malang city.Keywords: E-Service Quality, Perceived Value, Loyalty Intentions

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to analyze the influence of organizational commitment and job satisfaction on volunteer’s intention to stay in TurunTangan Malang. The type of this research is explanative research with quantitative approach. The sampel of this research are 55 respondents with saturated sampling technique which are active volunteers. Data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis by considering the classical assumption test. The results of this test indicate that organizational commitment and job satisfaction influence simultaneously on volunteer’s intention to stay. For partial influence, only organizational commitment alone has a positive and significant influence on volunteer’s intention to stay  and also becomes the dominant independent variable. While job satisfaction does not significantly influence volunteer’s intention to stay. Key Word : Organizational Commitment, Job Satisfaction, Intention to Stay

Abstract

Manufacturing activities of the industry is directly tangent to the community. Companies are required to create a positive impact on the environment and society. One strategy that can be implemented is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This study aims to reveal the mechanism of CSR implementation and also evaluate the implementation process that has been run starting in 2011. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The focus of this research is on the data obtained through direct interview with the Sustainbility Development Department of PT Tirta Investama Pandaaan. The results of the evaluation of the CSR implementation process is still the problem faced by the company. The main problem that occurs is the excessive expectations of some communities in each program and there are groups who are on behalf of the wider community but carry a personal mission. The solution that can be done to overcome the problems of corporate CSR is to increase the intensity of communication with the community and conduct discussions with key stakeholders.Keywords: Corporate Social Responsibility, Implementation Strategy, Integrated Community Development

Abstract

This study focuses on the role of macroeconomic variables and ownership structure on financial performance (ROA) at Bank Mandiri and Bank BCA. The macroeconomic variable was measured by the interest rate of Bank Indonesia and inflation, while the variable of ownership structure was measured by managerial ownership and institutional ownership. This research was conducted using Multiple Regression Analysis method. The result of this study indicates that macroeconomic variables are more influential on the financial performance compared with the variable of ownership structure from both of the banking firms. The above-mentioned macroeconomic variable is inflation. Inflation affects ROA because along with the rising of the national inflation rate, the interest rate will rise as well to reduce the circulation of money supply in the society. That results to a higher public inclination to invest their money in the bank. The increasing amount of third party deposits in the bank will raise the asset of the firm. The assets are used by the firm to increase profits which results to the increase of return value of the firm's total assets. In the end, the assessment of the firm's performance is better because the ROA shows improvement.Keywords: macroeconomic variables, ownership structure, financial performance, interest rate, inflation, managerial ownership, institutional ownership, ROA, multiple regression.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi preferensi pelaku UMKM di Kampung Kue Rungkut Lor Gg. II dalam memilih lembaga keuangan sebagai sumber permodalan. Tujuan penelitian ini ditetapkan karena pelaku UMKM khususnya pelaku usaha di Kampung Kue Rungkut Lor Gg. II memiliki preferensi untuk memilih lembaga keuangan sebagai sumber permodalan dan memiliki pertimbangan masing-masing dalam memilih lembaga keuangan tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaku UMKM di Kampung Kue Rungkut Lor Gg. II menggunakan 2 lembaga keuangan sumber untuk pendanaannya, yaitu dari bank dan koperasi. Dengan adanya lembaga keuangan sebagai sumber modal, pelaku UMKM Kampung Kue Rungkut Lor Gg. II bisa terhindar dari menggunakan modal dari jasa rentenir.Kata kunci : Preferensi, UMKM, Lembaga Keuangan, Sumber Permodalan

Abstract

Though sociologists and economists have developed and tested numerous theories about suicide, still very many professionals especially in Indonesia remain unaware about the economics of suicide phenomenon. We derive an economic theory of suicide and test its implications using: (1) data by suicide number as, income (GNI), population over the age of sixty-five, population of density, and unemployment rate as in forty countries in the world with the highest suicide rate; (2) a panel data in 2000 until 2015; (3) multiple regression analysis; (4) EViews 9 software. Most of our predictions are verified. In particular, the result shows that population over the age of sixty-five, income, and population density significantly affect suicide number, while unemployment rate does not. The implied effect of income on suicide number is positive, as is the positive relationship between population density to suicide number. Abstract

Cryptocurrency is a form of money that is secured by cryptography, a technology that will keep safe any information from third parties, to pacify the transactions and to control its value over time. Cryptocurrency has no organization or institution who has authority to control it, which makes some people think that it is not safe. Many research has talking about cryptocurrency in its technological side. However, no study has ever been correlating this topic with economic growth. Using panel data regression, this thesis correlating BTC, as the most known and expedienced type of cryptocurrency with GDP as the variable that represent economic growth. It also has 3 other variables as the control variable that will make sure the result to be unbiassed. Those are capital (K), labor (L), and Technology (A), as in the Solow’s growth theory which reviewing growth through its supply side, the input production function. The sample are taken from 5 Asian countries with the highest number of Bitcoin usages (Japan, China, India, Singapore, Indonesia), with period that started from 2011 to 2016.KEYWORDS: Cryptocurrency, economic growth, solow growth model, bitcoin.
