Abstract

Introduction: Factors that may increase the risk of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), and one theory suggests a possible connection between metabolic syndrome and the development of BPH. This study aims to investigate the potential relationship between metabolic syndrome and the development of BPH. Methods: This study analyzed medical records from Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang from 2015 to 2020, using a case-control research design. It applied Chi-Square and Logistic Regression methods for data analysis. Results: The study, based on data from 90 patients, found that the highest number of BPH cases (75.56%) occurred in those with hypertension. Factors like body mass index and blood pressure were significantly associated with BPH (p-values = 0.046; OR = 2.473). Logistic regression confirmed the impact of fasting blood glucose, blood pressure, and body mass index categories on BPH. Conclusion: This research illustrates that there is an association between type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and obesity with the occurrence of BPH. However, there is no statistically significant relationship between the components of metabolic syndrome and the occurrence of BPH.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Decreased performance in basketball players can be caused by several factors, one of which is a decrease in the explosive function of the lower limbs which causes a decrease in skill in playing basketball. It can be increased again by doing some exercises, such as Polymetric Exercises . Purpose : to see the effect of plyometric training on increasing the explosive power of the lower limbs ball club . friendship basketball in the city of Samarinda. Method: Study desain is pre experimental one group pre test post test. The research was conducted on 15 altet samples . ball . basketball by providing plyometric exercises ( Front Box Jump , Lateral Bounds, Lateral Box Jump, Single Leg Deadlift to Jump, Single leg hops) and measuring explosive power using a vertical jump test . Results: The results of this study have a significant effect on increasing the explosive power of the lower limbs basketball athlete with mark significant p – value = 0.000 used paired sample t-test (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is an effect of plyometric training on increasing the explosive power of the lower limbs of the friendship basketball community of Samarinda City.

Abstract

Introduction: Pre-eclampsia is one of the causes of death in mothers and babies. One of the factors related to the occurrence of pre-eclampsia is obesity. Obesity can be identified using the Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aims to analyze the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and the incidence of pre-eclampsia in pregnant women at Bhayangkara Hospital. Method: This type of research is observational and uses a cross-sectional research design. The total sample was 40 pregnant women determined using the total sampling technique. The research instrument used an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test with a significance value <α=0.05. Results: The study showed that most of the body mass index was in the overweight or obese category, amounting to 32 respondents (80%). The incidence of pre-eclampsia in almost all respondents with severe pre-eclampsia was 35 respondents (87.5%). The Spearman rank test results showed a P-value = 0.000 < α 0.05, meaning there is a relationship between body mass index and the incidence of pre-eclampsia. Conclusion: There is a relationship between body mass index and the incidence of pre-eclampsia. The suggestion is the need for health workers to make innovations related to preventing pre-eclampsia.

Abstract

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is muscle discomfort that varies from mild tension to severe pain that can impair function. DOMS pain is caused by the accumulation of metabolic waste in the muscle, such as lactic acid, as well as extracellular fluid that irritates the sensory fiber endings. Physiotherapy modalities, such as Sports Massage and Ice Compress, can be applied to prevent and treat DOMS. This quasi-experimental study used a two group pre-post test design that compared the effect of sports massage and ice packs on changes in DOMS pain values. This research was conducted at the Yonzipur 9 Ujung Berung field, Bandung City, with a population of 24 rugby athletes PON XXI JABAR, sampling using the total sampling method which was divided into 2 groups, namely (1) sports massage and (2) ice compresses with each group totaling 12 respondents. The measuring instrument used to assess the DOMS pain scale is the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The results of the study based on the median of the sport massage group before and after with a value of 7.5 and 4; the ice pack group showed a median value of 5 and 3 (before and after). Based on the Mann-Whitney analysis hypothesis test, the p value = 0.269> 0.05. It can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of the two methods. These findings indicate that Sports Massage and Ice Compress have comparable effectiveness in the management of DOMS muscle pain in athletes after intensive physical activity.
