Power system equipment must withstand not only the rated voltage which corresponds to thehighest voltage of a particular system but also over-voltages. Accordingly, it is necessary totest high voltage equipment stage and prior to commissioning. The magnitude and type oftest voltage varies with the rated voltage of particular apparatus. The standard methods ofmeasurement of high voltage and the basic techniques for application to all type ofapparatus for alternating voltage, direct voltage, partial discharge (well known as afterlayingtest) are aid down in the relevant application such as XLPE underground cable. Keywords: After Laying, XLPE Cable

Cascade circuit is once of methode to simplify digital circuit design, because its reducing thenumber of input in every part of cascade circuit. Usually, the design methode is apllied incombinational circuit design. This design methode can be implement too in synchronoussequential circuit, usually for counter circuit design. But in the asynchronous sequential, thisdesign methode is very rare to applied. This article is discussing only for cascade circuitdesign methode in asynchronous sequential mode, using âMaster Quizâ case study todescribe thisKeyword: Rangkaian CASCADE pada SEQUENTIAL ASINKRON, untuk merancangrangkaian cepat tepat dengan jumlah regu banyak.

The sub-system interaction and instability phenomena are a common problem in theDistributesd Power System (DPS). In order to regulate the output voltage or the speed, theinternal control function of a converter known as constant power load (CPL), results in theconverter tends to draw a constant power. This phenomena cause the input impedance ofCPL has negative incremental input impedance, which tends to create instability as it isconnected to a system. This paper concerns about the compensation method used to improvethe stability ot two or more connected subsystems, consisting of and L-C filter and a CPL. Acompensation method known as passive damping network containing only RC components isexamined purposedly to eliminate and reduce the instability of the subsystem. The passivedamping network was designed and simulated using PSpice. The results show that thedesigned passive damping network suitbale for small-scale power distribution system thatcontains constant power load with power level of 1kW.Keywords: Constant Power Load, DC â DC Converter, Passive Damping Circuit

Routing protocol is a set of rules implemented by router in routing process to build a routingtable. The table is used as a reference to forward data packets from source to destination ininternetworks. There are three types of routing protocol: Distance vector, Link state andHybrid routing protocol. Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a Link state routing protocolthat implements SPF (Shortest Path First) Dijkstra algorithm to determine a shortest pathfrom source node to destination node. OSPF as a public domain routing protocol not onlyworks as an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) in certain Autonomous System (AS) but also asExterior Gateway Protocol (EGP) which able to control the route of data packets amongdifferent Autonomous Systems. This capability is achieved by implementing multipleinterfaces OSPF with separate topological databases with their own Links state informationin every Autonomous System. In this research, Zebra software package is used to implementOSPF routing protocol and for the purpose of analysis and measurement of the output weuse a linux web base packet-analyzer software package. The result we found indicates thatthe bigger number of router and link on the router, the bigger the bandwidth used innetworks while the bigger number of area, the smaller bandwidth used in every area. Keywords: OSPF, link state, routing protocol, autonomous system.

The most challenging issues in railway systems today is a driverless systems which includesmodern requirements for safety and reliability and also allows the basic improvement of theflow and effectivity of the operation including a comfort improvements for operators. Thesystems was known as Automatic Train Control (ATC) system. The ATC here is able to keepthe scheduled time and to optimize the train running with respect to minimum energyconsumption, also considerably simplify the driverâs work. Keywords: Automatic Train Control, Automatic Train Operations, Automatic TrainProtection.

In order to understand the atmospheric or lightning surges it would be important tounderstand the theory behind lightning.. This paper presents a review of literature of balllightning as a discharge phenomenon. It is assumed that ball lightning is produced andsustained by the electric fields associated with charges from a lightning strike dispersingalong preferred conducting paths in the earth. The theory gives an explanation of theformation, lifetime, energy sources and motion of a ball lightning. Keywords: ball lightning, lightning strike, discharge phenomenon

MPEG-1 is one of the standards to encode the information in digital signal. This standard iswidely used in many application such audio, video and teleconferencing. The concept of theMPEG-1 video encoding is discussed in this paper to give better understanding to the readerof what MPEG-1 Video, and how it can be more applicable. The benefits of MPEG-1 videoencoding are the file size produced is smaller than the source, the standard has been used inmany applications, and also the encoding and decoding process are easy to do back andforth. Keywords: MPEG-1, audio/video, teleconferencing, encoding, decoding

Power losses at medium voltage network distribution systems cannot be avoided. Although its value is difficult to know exactly but it can be calculate. The value is influenced by load and line resistance, it is one of the aspects of efficiency on power electric distribution. This paper uses two calculation methods. The first method is basic formula which PLN usually use based on field data acquisitioned. The second method is calculation based on research estimation power losses per year; this method is providing (IEEE, 2006: 1092). Keywords: Medium Voltage Network, Distribution Feeder, Llosses.

Attenuation in an Optical Communication Link always causes the transmitted signal powerbecome as lower as the length of the fiber become longer. For a long distancecommunication link like submarine cable needs a repeater to amplify the optical signalpower that transmitted in the fiber. The most popular repeater in long distancecommunication link is Optical Repeater with its Optical Amplifier. This paper is anintroduction of an Optical Amplifier. The most important part of an optical amplifier is theActive Medium. The active medium of an amplifier normally consist of 10 to 30 m length ofoptical fiber that has been slightly doped (e.g., 1000 ppm weight) with a rare earth elementsuch as erbium (Er) for 1550 nm wavelength and Praseodymium (Pd) for 1300 nmwavelength, and the host fiber material can be either standard silica, fluorite-based glass ormulti-component glass. The optical amplifier that consists of fiber doped with Erbium iscalled EDFA (ERBIUM DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER). The simplified energy levelconcept of an EDFA and its basic operation how the photon signal could be amplified whencome through the active medium is simply introduced. Besides, the basic architecture of anEDFA, three configurations of the pumping direction of pump laser into the active mediumand the amplifier gain of an ADFA are also described. Keywords: Optical repeater, active medium, EDFA (erbium doped fiber amplifier)1. A Distance Detector is a circuit that is built using ultrasonic sensor to detect objects aroundone`s car and AT89S52 microcontroller as the processor. An Ultrasonic sensor will detectobjects around the car. The sensorâs transmitter will transmit ultrasonic waves. If theultrasonic waves bounce back to the receiver, it means that there is an object around the car.Microcontroller will count the time needed to receive the ultrasonic waves and determine thedistance between the object and the car. The distance can be read from the Liquid CrystalDisplay (LCD) or Light Emitting Diode (LED) panel that is placed in front of the car driver. After being assembled and tested, this device works properly. This device can detect anobject up to the distance of 2 meters from the sensor. The deviation between the real distanceand the calculated one ranges from 0.82% to 34.40%. the longer the distance, the smallerthe deviation. Keywords: ultrasonic sensor, microcontroller, distance, LCD, LED
