Abstract

Free Space Optics (FSO) as Data Communication System technology contribute positivelynot only to its users but also to its operators. It is regarded as the development of infraredcommunication that can overcome some drawbacks of wireless data communication such aslosses. This study concerns the implementation of Free Space Optics for cross connectedbuildings with the calculation of link margin factor to determine exactly the resultingperformance under different kinds of weather: sunny, moderate rain and heavy rain. Theresults shown are those for the distance of 35.66 m. The obtained attenuation factors are asfollows: -0.0078452 dB in sunny weather, -0.0156904 dB in light rain; and -0.1412136 dB inheavy rain. These results are still less than the link margin of 32.2228 dB, which means thatFree Space Optics is good enough to be implemented. The result also showed that for thedistance of 118.79 m, the attenuation factor is -0.4704084 dB in heavy rain and still lessthan the link margin of 22.5524 dB. It means that Free Space Optics can be implemented forline of sight communication. Keywords: Free Space Optics (FSO), link margin, weather, attenuation factor

Abstract

A combination of an antenna array and an adaptive processor can perform a radiationpattern in the direction of arriving signal and at the same time reject any interfering signalor noise from other directions. With the variable weights on every element, signal processorcan easily adjust the weight by a simple adaptive technique based on the least-mean-squares(LMS) algorithm. During the adaptive process an incoming signal simulates a receivedsignal from a desired look direction, this allow the array system to learn so its directivitypattern has a main lobe in the previously specified look direction. At the same time, thearray processing system reject any interfering noise and signals, whose directions ofpropagation are different from the desired look direction, by forming nulls in the antennapattern. The technique described are simulated by Matlab. Substantial reductions in noiseand any other signals are demonstrated. The results are the arrays can be used over a widerange of frequencies and the more elements of the array the used more acurate the pattern. Keywords: simulation, random real number, forecasting, mean squares, scenario

Abstract

The rapid development of Internet technology can be reflected by the increasing number ofthe Internet users, the complexity of the applications in the Internet and its related computernetwork technology. Nowadays, more and more companies are moving their businesses onthe Internet. Once the companies have decided that they want to utilize the internet tosupport their business activities, their consideration not only based on their needs when thesystem is set up but also the prediction about future condition. Any interrupt or stop ofservices on the servers means business losses, and high availability of these servers becomesincreasingly important. The load on popular Internet sites is growing rapidly, some havealready got tens of millions hits per day. More and more administrators have met theperformance bottleneck problem of their servers, and with the increasing access requests theservers will be easily overloaded for a short time. This condition sometimes exceeds theirprediction when they first set up the system. This paper presents how to create Linux virtualservers or in brief we called LVS. LVS implements parallel processing concepts in the Linuxbased computer network. LVS is a high-performance and highly available server built on acluster of real servers. By utilizing one computer as a LVS Director which is responsible todistribute user accesses, LVS will be able to schedule and distribute the load into number ofLVS real server. In the system, we utilize the method of IP-level load balancing to makeparallel services of the cluster to appear as a virtual service on a single IP address viaNetwork Address Translation. They are two scheduling algorithms used, a Round Robin andWeight Least Cost load balancing. In order to test the performance of the LVS system, anLVS Web server is developed in the Computer System Laboratory, Electrical EngineeringDepartment, Trisakti University. The response of the web server using different number ofreal servers and different load balancing algorithm, round robin and weight least cost, ismonitored. Keywords: Internet, LVS, NAT, komputer Cluster, Round Robin, Weight Least Cost.

Abstract

Operating temperature of potential transformer design is 20 oC. However it is not applicable in Indonesia with temperature 30 oC. Because of that, the load of the transformer need to be adjusted. Operating lifetime will become shorter and loss of life will become greater at higher temperature. Loss of life of the transformer depends on winding isolation and transformer oil. Overheating in transformer winding can damage the isolation and increase oil temperature resulting in degradation of the oil. If the changes occur in a long period, it can decrease the isolation value of the oil. The final research observes the correlation between load of transformer and ambient temperature to the loss of life viewed from deterioration transformer winding insulation and analyze GTG 1.3 PLTGU Tambak Lorok Semarang Transformer loss of life refer to1972 IEC 354 standard. According the result, 80% of transformer load is caused minimum 24% loss of life. With IEC 354 standard’s transformer and 20 oC ambient temperature resulting in minimum 100% loss of life on 100% load. According to 20 load data, with maximum load of GTG 1.3 PLTGU Tambak Lorok Semarang Transformer loss of life is 15.69% Keywords: transformer, ambient temperature, loss of life

Abstract

Frame relay, according to its name, is a technology that depends on frames that’s beingrelayed in a data transmission. This technology is a simplified form of packet switching, similar in principle to X.25, in which synchronous frames of data are routed to differentdestinations depending on header information [Bates,2002:57]. A regular analysis on networkperformance and quality must be taken to guarantee certain service level. This task is soimportant as frame relay usually carries data on high speed data communication backbone. The performance analysis from the Frame Relay network will be discussed at the providingcompany. Performance analysis is useful to know the quality of service from the Frame relaynetwork . To analyze the quality of service from the Frame relay network can be seen from themeasurement that can affect the network. There are three measures which can affect thenetwork significantly such as bus utilization, excess burst percentage and dropped packetpercentage. Those three are closely related and having significant impact on overall framerelay’s network quality. Based on the results from the networks analyzed shows that it hasenough processing power and bandwidth resources, eventhough nearly 30% of their networkpath is under specified service level guarantee. Even so, overall quality of frame relaynetwork meets the specified service level quality. Keywords: Frame Relay, Bus Utilization, Excess Burst Percentage, Dropped PacketPercentage

Abstract

The design, analysis and implementation of a high frequency 1-3GHz tunable pure NMOSQuadrature Up-Conversion mixer topology are presented. The mixer is implemented in adeep submicron 0,25 μm CMOS process technology. Utilizing an off-chip tunable inductorachieves tunable range of frequency. Various passive components had been incorporated inits circuitry to increase the linearity of the topology. The mixer, which is a configuration of abalanced modulator, is composed from a Parallel Structure Low Voltage Multipliertopology, a High Gain Phase Shifting network and a Differential Cascade amplificationstage at the output. Various topology of four quadrant multiplier, biased in different regionof operation has been simulated and analyzed. The utilized topology requires fewer amountof stacked transistors, thus reducing the voltage headroom requirement of the circuitry. Theproposed high gain phase shifter relaxes the requirement of cascading several stages oflimiting amplifier at the output. Operating from a power supply of 2.0V, it consumes 150mWof power, with an OIP3 of 0dBm and 1dB compression level of 4.6dB.Keywords: Balanced Modulator, CMOS analog integrated circuit, Mixers, Phase shifters,RFIC

Abstract

Nowadays the electric energy cost is always increasing every year. So we need to save inusing electric energy. To increase electric efficiency some efforts can be done, for exampleby reducing the load harmonic, increasing power factor (cos ) and minimizing the startingcurrent of electrical machine; so we only buy electric energy that we need really to be used,or for only active load that we need in our home. For this occasion we discuss only forsmall load as many usages in living home, but it indeed can be continued for larger load ashigh rise buildings, industries, factories, etc. Keywords: Power factor, harmonic distortion, electrical machine
