Abstract

Regarding increasing of load demand every year, it is necessary to provide power in largeammount which directly involved operation cost especially fuel cost. Therefore, to minimizethe fuel cost, should used an optimization technique that is Random Unit Outage, whichresult not only in minimum operation cost but also reliability level of the system. thisoptimization technique is divided into three steps by three methods; Gradien method,Dynamic Programming, and Convolution method. Abstract

Solar cell is one of renewable energy. Solar cell can convert directly sunlight dissociationenergy of diatomic to become electric energy. Electric energy yielded by solar cell hardlyinfluenced by the sun intensity of light received, so that solar cell can only yield electricenergy if there are sunlight. Supply of electric energy should be able to be applied everytime. Hybrid of solar energy alternator (PLTS) with electrical grid of PLN will yieldcontinuous supply of electric energy. At this hybrid system, electrical supply from PLTS isdesigned to be around 30% from overall load of electrical equipment in household, the restload around 70% is fulfilled by PLN.Hybrid process of PLTS with the electrical grid iscontrolled by a switch controller which its working principal based on one way direction;when PLTS works (on), hence electric supply from PLN is disconnected and so vice versa.Keywords: solar cell, hybrid system, switch controller

Abstract

This paper focuses on the process of designing and implementation of fast multiplier chipusing Trachtenberg method that is usually used for fast arithmetic computation in learningcalculation. By combining fast Trachtenberg method and fast hardware implementation insilicon chip, the faster multiplier will be produced. The performance of multiplier is essentialpart in determining the performance of digital signal processing system. In the era of digitalsystem nowadays, it needs the faster signal processing system due to the massive data to beprocessed especially in the real time system. The process of chip design initiates withdesigning all modules needed to build the fast multiplier chip. After all the modules workproperly by simulated verification, all the modules will be combined together to create thefast multiplier chip. There are two Trachtenberg methods, they are direct method and twofinger method. In this paper, Trachtenberg Two Finger method is used for designing of fastmultiplier on the EPF10K30ETC144-1 target device in AHDL (Altera Hardware DescriptionLanguage) code. Abstract

We present an analytical model of base and collector current distribution for SiGe HBT.This model covers some important factors to be well considered in the process of devicestructure fabrication: bandgap narrowing due to heavy doping and/or the addition ofgermanium fraction to silicon substrate, effective density of states at conduction and valenceband, and diffusion constant. Abstract

The research studied about designing the integration between Wireless Fidelity(WiFi) and GSM indoor network, followed by the observation of its signal quality andrelated environmental factors. To achieve the research goal, it is mandatory to calculate theEffective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and the Signal Strength (SS) for GSM network orReceived Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) for Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) network. Taking intoconsideration about the GSM and WiFi hardwares specifications, RBS power, Access Pointsand any related enviromental factors; those parameter can be definitely calculated. Theresearch results showed that for GSM indoor network the EIRP 11.9141 dBm and the SignalStrength -70.2759 dBm; while for WiFi network the EIRP 18.7524 dBm and the RSSI -37.3376 dBm with to System Operating Margin is 30.6624 dB. Furthermore it can be statedthat for obtainning the improved output signal strength as implementation of integratingboth network system, it advisable to add Multi Band Combiner altogethet with booster at theGSM network side.Keywords: WiFi, GSM Indoor, Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP), Received SignalStrength Indication (RSSI).

Abstract

Digital computers are available not only for design of control system but also to perform thecontrol function. Advances in digital computers and microprocessors have made their usevery attractive as components in control system. Using digital computer with a plantoperating in the continuous-time domain requires that its input signal be discrete, which inturn requires the sampling of the signals used by the controller. An A/D converter must beincorporated in the digital control system. This paper presents the choice of sampling timeand bit numbers and they’re to the system characteristics. Abstract

Design is an activity that requires not only fundamental knowledge in the domain of theapplication and understanding of the interactions with other aspects such as ergonomic,economic, technical and social but also creativity of designers. To generate innovativesolutions, expert designers often use their experiences, the history of failed as well assuccessful designs, as a valuable information source to help them to solve a current designproblem. For beginners, such information is even more valuable. Thus, experiences earnedfrom previous design processes can be a rich source of ideas and inspiration in every stageof design. Case-based reasoning or CBR is a methodology in automated reasoning andmachine learning. In CBR, a reasoner solves a new problem by searching for the similarityof the problem to one or several previously solved problems stored as cases in the case baseand then adapting their known solutions instead of working out a solution from scratch.Designers analyse the design problem through formal methods, but creating a new designrequires previous experiences, or at least, exposure to anothers design experiences. InCase-based design, CBR supports a design process by reminding designers of previousdesign experiences that can help to solve new design problems. This paper describes apreliminary survey of CBR application in design to support the research of CBR applicationin engineering design education. A CBR basic concept will be explored first followed by ageneral step of engineering design process. It is also described issues raised by theapplication of CBR in design process, and finally we propose the possibilities of introducinga CBR method in engineering design education.Keywords: Case Based Reasoning, Engineering Design, Design Case, Case Base.

Abstract

Many complex physical systems are described by differential equations for which a solutioncannot be determined in analytical form. However, techniques are available to obtainapproximate solutions of such differential equations, or sets of equations, by numericalmethods. Thus the solution of differential equations is another important phase in numericalanalysis. In general, methods of numerical integration employ a step-by-step process todetermine a series of values for each dependent variable corresponding to a selected set ofvalues of the independent variable. The usual procedure is to select values of theindependent variable at fixed interval. The accuracy of a solution by numerical integrationdepends both on the method chosen and the size of interval.Keyword: step-by-step, differential equations, numerical methods

Abstract

The increasing demand for telecommunication services nowadays, particularly in optical fiber transmission, has necessitated the optimization of optical amplifying device, such as Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA). The latest development of technology has enabled the implementation of Raman Amplifier in the long haul system (300-800 km) and ultra long haul system (>900 km). The Raman Fiber Amplifier (RFA) is recommended for several advantages, such as flat gain for all wavelengths, low noise figure, and applicable to any kind of optical fibers. It is quite possible that by using C + L Band approach, much higher raise in the band Hybrid EDFA/RFA’s amplification factor can be achieved. Abstract

In ice block industry, usage of electrical power for induction motor as prime mover ofcompressor is very high. Level of usage of electricity at ice block industry base on change ofrefrigeration media temperature. Referring to the mentioned, hence mass flow rate ofrefrigerant circulating in system, refrigeration effect per kilogram, comparison ofcompression of compressor, refrigeration capacities and mechanic energy which must beyielded by the compressor to circulate the refrigerant determining transfer of heat systemperformance as work principle of cooler machine can be determined. This Final Assignmentpresent an economical technique of usage of electrical power of induction motor that is byproduct the ice block when of media refrigeration temperature reach the lowest level that isnight time with method comparison of usage of electrical power of induction motor as primemover of compressor at ice block industry which giving result the lowest usage of electricalpower.
