Abstract

In this paper, we establish some new sufficient conditions which guaranteethe boundedness and the uniform boundedness of solutions of certain nonlinearand nonautonomous differential equations of second order. By defining appropriateLiapunov functions, we obtain some new results on the subject, and examples arealso provided to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed results. By this work, weextend and improve some boundedness results in the literature.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.16.2.35.115-126

Abstract

Results on allelle frequencies in three chromosomes, drawn at randomfrom a diploid population, evolving in equilibrium, at a particular generation, arepresented in this paper. The genes on each chromosome are subject to unbiased andreciprocal gene conversion and mutation. Using the coalescent approach we find theprobability distribution of the allelic configurations in the three chromosomes, andthe moments of the allelic numbers that exist in one of the three chromosomes orin a pair of chromosomes. We also consider the identity coefficients of two genesdrawn at random, one from each of two chromosomes, and the probability that allgenes in the three chromosomes are monomorphic. Numerical examples are alsogiven together with simulation results, and they agree well.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.16.2.33.89-104

Abstract

In this note we discuss the concept of b-orthogonality in 2-normedspaces. We observe in particular that this denition of orthogonality is too loose sothat every two linearly independent vectors are b-orthogonal.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.16.2.36.127-132

Abstract

A graph is said to be semisymmetric if its full automorphism group actstransitively on its edge set but not on its vertex set. In this paper, we prove thatthere is only one semisymmetric cubic graph of order 28psub2/sub, where p is a prime.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.16.2.38.139-143

Abstract

In this paper, we discuss a generalized dependence measure which is designed to measure dependence of two symmetric alpha;-stable random variables with finite mean(1alpha;=2) and contains the covariance function as the special case (when alpha;=2). Weshortly discuss some basic properties of the function and consider several methods to estimate the function and further investigate the numerical properties of the estimatorusing the simulated data. We show how to apply this function to measure dependence of some stock returns on the composite index LQ45 in Indonesia Stock Exchange.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.15.1.39.1-12

Abstract

In this paper, we consider a numerical method for designing optimal controlon Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) problem. In the optimal control design process through Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP), we obtain a system of diferential equations in state and costate variables. This system lacks of initial condition on the adjoint variables, and this situation creates classic dificulty for solving optimal control problems. This paper proposes a constructive method to approximate the initial condition of the adjoint system.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.15.1.40.13-20

Abstract

A consistent kernel-type nonparametric estimator of the intensity function of a cyclic Poisson process in the presence of linear trend is constructed and investigated. It is assumed that only a single realization of the Poisson process is observed in a bounded window. We prove that the proposed estimator is consistent when the size of the window in definitely expands.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jims.15.1.42.37-48
