Abstract

Maintenance system is critical because if the maintenance goes well it will be able to guarantee the availability of the mechanical equipment so that the production system will running smoothly. One of the mechanical equipment that most important in the manufacturing especially in the sugar mill is the milling machine. The milling machine should always be in a condition that ready for use. In order to guarantee the availability of the machine, maintenance of a good strategy absolutely must be done. This research used MQFD method whereby this method is an integration between QFD and TPM method. According to Pramod et al., Merging the two methods are expected to improve the quality of maintenance as well as to accommodate the all costumer voices both internal customers and external customers as compared to existing methods of maintenance. The results of this study, it is known that the milling machine maintenance needs to be improved in order to improve the performance of milling machines. As the solution, the steps to be taken are Implementation of routine inspection, Train maintenance staff, Assessing and Improving awareness of the operator and machinist, Utilizing softwares to record and analyze machine components data, Execution Planned Component Replacement and cleaning the machine regularly.Keywords:Maintenance Quality Function Deployment (MQFD), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), House of Quality (HOQ), Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

Abstract

Renewable energy has potentials to be developed to meet our energy needs in the future. One promising energy source is browns gas. Browns gas is a mixture of di-atomic and mono-atomic of hydrogen and oxygen. One effort to produce browns gas is through the process of electrolysis of water. However, the process of electrolysis still considered a process uneconomical and inefficient, since the energy of electrochemical decomposition of water is relatively high. Thus, the challenge of brown gas production is reducing electrical energy. In this study, we propose to use solar energy for browns gas production plant, since the solar energy is environmentally friendly energy sources available so abundant in Indonesia. The experiment was carried out in two methods. First, the electrolysis was done using electricity produced by the solar panel directly without voltage control. The second method, the voltage of electricity from the solar panel was controlled using a regulator then it used for the water electrolysis. The results show that the direct method generates fluctuative electricity with the rate power of 29.67 Watt. This electricity was used for electrolysis process and produced brown gas 0,1393 g for 4 hours. On the other hand the in-direct method generated power relatively constant at 18.3 Watt and produced the brown gas about 0.1365 g.Keywords: solar energy, browns gas, electrolysis, hydrogen

Abstract

One of the most critical component in a pressure vessel is the nozzle because it is very sensitive to thermal fatigue. The fatigue life of a top head nozzle of crack gas drier is calculted based on ASME NB—3216.1 module during fluctuative temperature cycle. The life of ten locations at the nozzle are caculated using two dimensions axisymmetric model. ABAQUS and ANSYS are used to analyze thermal fatigue. Abstract

The research on the processing of organic municipal waste conversion has been done by using pyrolysis method. The research aims to gain an alternatif fuels and to minimize the landfill space. In the pyrolysis process, it was investigated the char formation as solid fuel as well as its heating value. The char formation was determined by the change of mass and volume of waste for minimizing landfill area.The waste compositions were obtained by surveying the 10 families during 10 days and then it was made the waste spesimens as the pyrolysis feedstocks. The pyrolysis processes were operated in range temperature 200oC to 400oC. Then, the char formations as pyrolysis products were tested by using bomb calorimeter to qualify the heating value of the products. The results showed that the waste was able to be a solid fuel due to the quality of its heating value. The increasing of the heating value could reach 150% from unpyrolyzed waste to pyrolyzed one. In addition, the pyrolysis method was able to significantly minimize the volume of waste, so that it has a potential way to overcome the need of a large landfil area in which it could reduce up to 50% in mass and 85% in volume. In waste pyrolysis method, it was only needed 2 hours operating process and low-temperature process (only up to 300oC). It did not require require a high-operating temperature, therefore, the handling of municipal organic waste to save area landfill and produce alternative fuel could be done in short time and did not require great energy.Keywords: waste, conversion energy, alternatif fuels, pyrolysis

Abstract

Indonesia has a great potential to develop hydropower, because Indonesias mountainous topography and hilly and is drained by numerous rivers (large and small), and in certain areas there are lakes or reservoirs and the potential of water as an energy source. Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) is a technology that has been proven to not harm the environment, support the diversification of energy as renewable energy, support the use of fuel reduction program, and most of the construction using local materials. Kinetic Turbine is one of the options in utilizing the potential of the kinetic energy in the form of velocity, kinetic studies using vertical shaft turbine, blade-shaped bowl that can withstand the flow in order to increase the tangential force generated.Amount ofkineticturbine bladesis one ofthe variablesthat affect therotationandtangentialstyle ofaturbine, so the effecton the value ofthe powerand efficiencyofakineticturbine. Abstract

In this paper surface optimization for the surface roundness has been done by considering the cutting parameters as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. The experiments were performed on a CNC lathe, and the materials used for the experiment is steel St.60, with 100 mm length and 1" diameter. For design and optimize the results experiments used Taguchi method, and to predict the level of significance tests that contribute to the unity of the surface is done by ANOVA with Minitab 15 software. From this research the optimized values contributing as cutting speed 60 m/menit, feed 0.2 mm/rev and depth of cut 0,125 mm respectively. To find out the extent to which the accuracy of the minimum values of surface roundness, then do validation on parameter values corresponding to the optimization of the minimum value of the parameter.Keywords: roundness, cutting speed, feeding, depth of cut, Taguchi.

Abstract

Problems faced by South Leitimur Ambon District was had a lot of undeveloped tourism potential developed as a tourist attraction that makes this region as a tourist destination areas (DTW). Thus, the strategic planning and development of tourism industry must be oriented to the development of tourism potential possessed by considering the problems faced, the economy was able to increase the income of local communities. This research is a type of qualitative research data collection techniques through direct observation (observation), indepth interviews (depth interviews), distributing questionnaires (questionnaire) and the study of literature. Presentation of analysis done formally (in tabular form) or informal (narrative). The method used is the method of SWOT and QSPM form, data analysis performed by Internal External Factors, IE matrix analysis, SWOT analysis and research QSPM. The result of analysis is to show the position of tourism in the district of South Leitimur with a market penetration strategy and product development, strategic SWOT analysis of the SO, ST, WO and WT, QSPM analysis shows that the strategy should be prioritized first Product development is a 15.550 total of TAS, TAS total Progressive strategy II 14.050, III 13.350 TAS total market penetration and IV diversification strategy of the TAS total of 13,00. To develop the sub-region South Leitimur based on the results of the analysis and strategic issues are obtained, it will be obtained or performed the following programs: Tourism Potential Collection owned, Development of tourism potential, the potential increase in tourism, infrastructure improvement, increase the quality of human resources , Increasing and strengthening management systems and increase welfare.Keywords: tourism potential, strategic planning, analysis and swot analysis qspm.

Abstract

This paper studied the modeling of proton conducting electrolyte SOFC hybrid system fueled by biofuel. The hybrid system consist of a proton conducting electrolyteSOFC stack, a gas turbine, a combustor, two external reformers, two compressors and heat exchangers. The results of study show that power of protonconducting electrolyte SOFC stack and also gas turbine power output when mixing methane with biofuel in externally reformed proton SOFC hybrid system ishigher than pure methane, vice versa, the system efficiency is lowerthan pure methane as a fuel. However, when mixing methane with biofuel, the system efficiency increases with increasing operating pressure.

Abstract

Direction of the vehicle stability is influenced by many things, both in terms of design and the operator of the vehicle itself. The emphasis is one of the influential, it is obvious when the vehicle turns, at which time the position of the focus will turn to change the result of the centrifugal force occurs. Position and magnitude of the centrifugal force that occurs will affect the vehicle slip angle, which will affect the performance of the vehicle. To determine the direction of vehicle behavior, use some concepts: understeer, oversteer, and neutral steer and understeer constant index (Kus). In analyzing the stability of the vehicle used by the calculation analysis Quasi-Dynamic calculation method. With the initial condition is referred to as ideal conditions or conditions Akerman (αr = αf = 0). Abstract

Implementation of the practice course in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Polytechnic of Ambon during this work takes too long, so beyond the allocation of the appropriate amount of time available in the curriculum credits. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the workload mismatch practice course. Stages of student work time measurements performed using the method of Time Study and Maynard Operation Sequence Techniques (MOST) to obtain the normal time and standard time student practical work. Correlation with time available on the course curriculum for the Job Machine Tools 4 the number of credits is 144 hours, then declared for the methods of time study needs more work time (342.6 hours / 5 students), so the result is inadequate (less than 198, 6 hours).
