Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the students’ critical thinking ability through TSTS and GW model in excretion system subject and students activity in teaching leaning process. The design of this research was pretest-posttest non equivalent. The research sample was students of XI IPA 1 as the first experimental class and XI IPA 2 as the second experimental class that was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The quantitative data was taken from pretest and posttest score and also N-gain that was analyzed by t-test on the level accurate of 95%. The qualitative data was the students’ critical thinking ability, data of students’ learning activities and questionnaire of students’ reaction on TSTS and GW model. The result of this research shown that TSTS model has been more increasing students’ critical thinking ability than GW model, it was shown by N-gain score on TSTS class (44,03) while in the GW class (32,30). The highest increasing indicator of students’ critical thinking ability was giving argument (32,74%), while the highest GW indicator was doing deduction (31,15%). The average of students’ activity in TSTS class was 84.44 while in GW class was 77,51. The highest activity in TSTS class and GW class occurred when changing information. Key words: Two Stay Two Stray, Gallery Walk, Critical thinking ability, Students’ activities, Excretion System

Abstract

Base in the observation on XI IPA 1 grade students of senior high school Bukit Kemuning  known that XI IPA 1 class  in even semester academic year 2011/2012 shows the average value mastery of the material of the human movement system is still lo, seen the average of student scores that 60,83 well below from the mastery learning that 65,0.  The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the use of teaching materials leaflet with teaching models TPS towards the activity and student lerning outcomes in the subject matter of the movement system.  This research is quasi experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. A sample of this reaserch is XI IPA 1 grade students of senior high school Bukit Kemuning. The data of this study was obtained from the test (pretest and posttest) and the observation sheet (students learning activities). data analysis using a t-test with the program SPSS17.The results showed that an increased in the average between the pretest (71,73) and posttest(71,73).  The average student activity at the third metting increased by 5,88%.  Also based on the data questionnaire leaflet interest of teaching materials, all students stated instructional material leaflet in interesting (96,32%). Thus, learning to use instructional materials leaflet is effect on activity and learning outcomes of XI IPA 1 grade students of senior high school Bukit Kemuning the subject matter of the human movement system. Keywords: Leaflet, Teaching materials, TPS, Learning activities, Larning outcomes, Movement system

Abstract

The average students` score of  Growth and Development in living organisms concepts was   lower compared to score of the average  school. This study aimed to determine the effect of  Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning models  to increase the mastery of the  students learning activities and  concept mastery  of Growth and Development in living organisms. This study used pretest-postest not equivalent designed  applied on sample which was selected using cluster random sampling technique. The data of this study was obtained from the test (pretest and posttest) and the observation sheet (students learning activities). Data was analyzed  using  t-test through  SPSS17 program.Based on the data analyzed,  the of N-gain score of experimental class on student`s concept mastery  was higher  than the control class. Students learning activities  used TPS model tend to  increase  from the first lesson to the third lesson with the average  of 17.34 %.The  study showed that the application of cooperative learning model type TPS affecting student`s concept  mastery and learning activities on the concept of Growth and Development in living organisms. Keywords: TPS  model learning, concept mastery , students` learning activities

Abstract

The problems in the learning process at Junior High School 13 Bandar Lampung is still dominating the teacher in the classroom. This results in low student concept mastery. cooperative learning model of STAD type to enable the students to learn so that students can increase mastery of concepts. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the use of cooperative learning model type STAD significantly affect students mastery of concepts in the subject matter of the respiratory system in humans. (2) the average students mastery concepts using cooperative learning model STAD type of subject matter in the human respiratory system is higher.  (3) students learning activities using cooperative learning model STAD type of subject matter in the human respiratory system is higher. The sample in this study was VIIIC and VIIIE graders who were randomly selected by cluster random sampling technique. The results showed an average N-gain of the experiment class is 50.74 higher than the control class is 32.05. Test t1 to N-gains obtained on the tcount(-5.224) ttable(2.000) so that H0 is rejected. That is an average of N-gain in the experimental class significantly different from the average N-gain the control class. Then t2 test results show that tcount(19.343) ttable(2.042) so that H0 is rejected. That is an average of N-gain in the experimental class higher than the average N-gain the control class, so that students mastery of concepts can be expressed on the subject matter of the respiratory system in humans using cooperative learning model of STAD type is higher than the model of learning directly. Keywords: STAD, students mastery of concepts, the respiratory system.

Abstract

The results of observation with X grades’ biology teacher of Persada Senior High School Bandar Lampung, there’s note that in the learning process students receive most information from teacher (teacher centered), so the effect forward to student learning activity and material mastery are still not optimal yet. One of the efforts to maximize it are using TGT models learning and  Flash Card media. The study aimed at inflence of TGT models with Flash Card media towards learning students’ activity and material mastery. This study uses design pretest-posttest not equivalent model with X3as experiments’ class (27 students) and X1 as controls’ class (30 students) was elected in cluster random sampling technique. The data of this study was obtained from the pretest and posttest, observation sheet and questionnaire of students respon about this study. Data analyzed using a t-test and u-test on the SPSS17 program. The results showed that average percentage of students learning activities in all aspect that observed in experiment class (77,62 %) was higher than control class (62,78 %), with an average N-Gain of material mastery on 65,89 % in experimental and control class on 38,65 %. In addition, 27 students was pleased to learn the matter of virus by using TGT models and Flash Card media. Thus, the used of TGT models and Flash Cards have influation toward students learning activities and material mastery of Virus as significantly. Keywords: TGT, Flash Card, material mastery, student learning activity, Virus.
