Abstract

Critical thinking skills and mastery of subject matter is required by students in the learning procces. The research has purpose to determine the effect of application audio-visual media through TPS model to the critical thinking ability and material mastery on environmental management subject matter. This is a experimental study research by pretest postest non equivalent group design. The samples of this research are VII E and VII F classroom chosen by purposive sampling method. Quantitative data obtained from the pretest and the posttest which analyzed statistically using t-test by spss 17. Qualitative data obtained from questionnaire regarding student response on audio-visual media through TPS model which analyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase in the critical thinking skills and material mastery of the experimental class on all indicators (critical thinking skills N-gain 61.12%, mastery of subject matter N- gain 62.25%). Moreover, 70% students give positive response on audio-visual media through TPS learning model. Therefore, the using of audio-visual media through TPS has influence significantly to increasing the critical thinking skill and material mastery of the student. Keywords: audio-visual media, cooperative learning model of TPS,   critical thinking skill, material mastery.

Abstract

The observation at X class SMA N 3 Kotabumi, known that mastery of material by students are still low. An alternative models to solve that is STAD. The objectives of this research were to know the influence of STAD model in improving student learning activities and mastery of material. The research is a quasi experiment with design pretest-posttest nonequivalent. The sample was students at X7 and X6  which chosen with purposive sampling. The quantitative data was gattered from value pretest, posttest, and N-gain score which was analyzed statistic using t-test. The qualitative data in form of description activities and questionnaire of students response of using STAD models. The result of student learning activities are in average good criteria. In the aspect worth asking (86.3%), answer questions (76.9%) and expression (87.7%). Mastery of the material has increased, with N-gain average (0,73). Questionnaire showed that all group leaders felt aid group members in discussions and members find it easier to understand the material and with the help of leaders in discussions. Thus, that the application of the model STAD effect on the activities and significant effect mastery of the material. Keywords: biodiversity, learning activities, mastery of the material, and STAD model.

Abstract

Problem-solving skill is a thinking skill that must be developed in junior high school. Classroom observations from VII grade Junior High School 2 Waylima shows that problem-solving skill is still low. This study aimed to determine the effect of PBL models in improving problem solving skill. This study design is non equivalent pretest posttest group. Samples was VIIID and VIIIE grades selected by purposive sampling. This research data in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data obtained from the average value of pretest, posttest and N-gain was analyzed using t-test and U test. Qualitative data in the form of descriptions of student learning activities, and questionnaire responses. The results showed that PBL model can improve problem-solving skill by students with average score of pretest (50.64); posttest (75.32), and N-gain (0,50). Learning activity also increase with an average of 86.45%. In addition, most students responded positively with used of PBL models. Thus, it can be concluded that the used of PBL model significantly affect problem-solving skill in the influence of human population density toward evironment subject matter. Based on observationin SMAN 3 Kotabumi, student’s critical thinking skill were not optimally developed. Alternative that can be used is picture card media through STAD learning model. This experiment aims to know the improvement of student’s critical thinking skill. This is quasi experiment using pretest posttest group non equivalent design. Sample are students from X3 and X4which selected from population by cluster random sampling method. Quantitative data from the average of pretest, posttest and N-gain which statistically analyzed with t-test using SPSS 17. Qualitative data are student’s critical thinking skill description, learning activities and student’s response about using picture card through STAD model which descriptively analyzed. Result of this experiment showed that student’s critical thinking skill improved significantly in giving reason (48,07%), reconstructing argument (54,28%) and looking for similarity and difference (42,73%). The student’s learning activities in all observed aspects is improved.  Student’s activities in teamwork (89,22%), doing discussion (86,27%) and presenting group discussion result (84,31%). The students also give positive response about usingpicture card through STAD model. So, student’s critical thinking skill improved significantly by using picture card through STAD learning model.   Keywords:  picture card media, STAD learning model, critical thinking skill, Protista

Abstract

Observation on 7th grade at Junior High School of 5th Bandar Lampung reveals that the critical thinking ability and the material mastery were not optimal due to teacher-centered oriented learning. Therefore it is necessary to develop media and learning model study. To resolve it, the research using audio-visual media and talking chips model was conducted. The research design that used in this research is pre-test post-test non-equivalent. Samples used are 7 D and 7F class chosen by cluster random sampling method. Quantitative data obtained from pretest and posttest scores and N-gain which analyzed using t-test. Qualitative data gained from questionnaire regarding student response on audio-visual media through talking chips model which analyzed descriptively. Result of the research reveals that the average of critical thinking skill and material mastery of subject matter of the experimental class on all indicators (critical thinking skills N-gain 26,79%, material mastery N- gain 28,46%). Moreover, 87.50% students give positive response on audio-visual media through talking chips learning model. Therefore, the using of audio-visual media through talking chips has a positive influence significant on increasing the critical thinking skill and material mastery of the student.  Keywords: audio-visual media, talking chips, critical thinking skill, material mastery.

Based on observation with biology teacher in SMP N 1 Merbau Mataram, students learning activities and outcomes were not optimally developed yet. An alternative that can be used to improve learning activities and outcomes is using picture and picture models. This experiment aims to find out the influence of models Picture and Picture towards improvement of students learning activities and outcomes. This study is quasi experiment using pretest posttest group non equivalent design. Sample are students from VIII A and VIII B which obtained by cluster random sampling method. Quantitative data is outcomes that obtained from average of pretest and posttest scores which statistically analyzed with U-test. Qualitative data are student’s learning activities and students responses about applicating model Picture and Picture which descriptively analyzed. Result of this study shown that the average of students outcomes in experimental class are higher than control (experiment= 69,48; control = 45,17). The average of student learning activities percentage in all observed aspects in experimental class shown higher enhancement than control (experiment = 90.8; control = 60.25). The students also gives positive responses to applicating model Picture and Picture. Keywords: human’s growth and development, learning activities and result, picture and picture models.

Abstract

Studying-result is the final aim on learning process which is closely related to the on field-studying. Observations in VII Grade of Public Junior High 2 Jati Agung shows low on result and activity of learning. This research was aimed to know the influences of Bamboo Dancing. The design was equivalen control group. This research's data was quantitative and qualitative. The sample was Class VIIA and VIIB which selected by cluster random sampling. Quantitative data obtained average value of the pretest, posttest and N-gain on Life Organization matter.  Qualitative data obtained percentage average of students activities and responses of using Bamboo Dancing was analyzed descriptively. The results of the research show that Bamboo Dancing increasing the activity of the student with good criteria which is on 76.62% , it is also evident from the increase observed for all aspects. The Study-result from the experiment class is increasing too, with N-gain average (0.154) shows the high criteria. Besides, all of the student gave positive response to the Bamboo Dancing . Thus, it can be concluded that the uses Bamboo Dancing is influential in increasing the Study and activity result.Key words: bamboo dancing, life organization, student study results and learning activity.
