Abstract

Tolerance between religious communities is crucial for creating harmonious social relations in a pluralistic society. However, religious diversity also has the potential to lead to conflict due to differences in identity and belief. In contrast, Bandar Klippa Village, as a multireligious village, exhibits a relatively harmonious social life with minimal conflict. This study aims to analyze the state of interreligious tolerance, identify underlying factors, and examine the village head's leadership strategies in building tolerance. The study employed a qualitative approach with a single case study design. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that interreligious tolerance in Bandar Klippa Village is relatively good, reflected in interfaith social interactions, joint participation in community activities, and conflict resolution through deliberation. This condition is supported by the values of togetherness, the intensity of social interactions, and the village head's inclusive leadership strategy through interfaith dialogue, active attendance at religious activities, strengthening social activities, and the involvement of interfaith representatives in the village's social structure. Implicitly, this research emphasizes the importance of inclusive and participatory local leadership in maintaining social stability in multicultural societies and can serve as a reference for village governance practices and the development of local leadership studies.

Abstract

Rohis activities in schools play an important role in shaping students' religious character, but there is still a gap between the potential role of Rohis and the low interest in worship and involvement of some students in religious activities. This indicates the importance of effective da'wah communication strategies in attracting student attention and participation. This study aims to analyze the influence of da'wah communication strategies on students' interest in worship and involvement in Rohis activities at Dharmawangsa High School, Medan. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 32 Rohis members selected using census techniques. Data were analyzed using linear regression and t-tests. The results showed that da'wah communication strategies significantly influenced students' interest in worship and involvement. The coefficient of determination showed that da'wah communication strategies contributed 86.4% to interest in worship and 57.8% to student involvement, while the remainder was influenced by other factors outside this study. These results confirm that effective, persuasive, and student-specific communication strategies can improve the quality of Rohis activities and provide practical implications for Rohis instructors and schools to design innovative, creative, interactive, and relevant approaches to the world of students.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of tawasul through the role of the teacher as presented by Muhammad Luthfi Ghozali in Mencari Jati Diri Volume 1: Tawasul Seeking Allah and the Prophet through the Path of the Teacher, focusing on epistemological, practical, and theological issues arising from positioning the teacher as the dominant spiritual intermediary. Research objectives include hermeneutic explanation of the tawasul concept, identification of main problems such as student dependency and teacher authority ambiguity, and analysis of tensions between the teacher's position and tawhid principles. Qualitative library-based methodology employs Hans-Georg Gadamer's hermeneutics, involving close reading of the primary text, triangulation of secondary Sufism data, and the hermeneutic circle for horizon fusion. Findings reveal tawasul as a valid means of inner transformation, with the teacher serving as a proportional wasilah; problems are addressed via contextual Sufi understanding; theological tensions are clarified to align with absolute dependence on Allah.

Abstract

This study examines the da'wah communication strategies of Ustadz Das'ad Latif on the TikTok platform (@dasadlatifofficial) in response to the growing development of short-video social media in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through virtual ethnography, data were collected via participatory observation, content analysis, and digital interaction tracing during January–June 2025, with a data corpus of 2,100 videos and a purposive sample of 200 videos selected for in-depth analysis. The findings identify four integrated digital da'wah strategies: (1) message strategy, through the simplification of religious messages based on analogy and contextualization of contemporary issues; (2) presentation strategy, through visual consistency, code-mixing language use, and personal narrative techniques; (3) interactivity strategy, through participatory dialogue, video reply features, and live streaming sessions; and (4) algorithmic strategy, through hashtag optimization, consistent upload scheduling, and content duration adaptation. This study concludes that digital da'wah on TikTok is not merely a transfer of medium, but rather a comprehensive reconstruction of communication strategies adapted to the logic of digital platforms, thereby offering a significant contribution to the development of digital da'wah studies and contemporary Islamic communication in the social media era.
